The inside of the used vehicle I looked at was clean, and I felt the price was fair. Hamid was the first person to greet me when I arrived. He made me feel welcome and handed me the key for the test drive. He was friendly, helpful, and professional. Heather helped me with the Mazda minivan, and I especially appreciated that I never felt pressured. She was honest, courteous, helpful, and patient. She offered us something to drink and asked if we were comfortable. I felt like her concern was what would be best for me and what would make me satisfied with my purchase. She explained the paperwork clearly and gave me time to read what I was signing. There was no rushing, no pushing, and no sales tricks at all. When many people think of car dealerships, they think of high-pressure sales tactics. That was not my experience at Pelham Imports. Dolores was also very helpful after the purchase. When the vehicle title was returned as undeliverable, she kept me informed, helped get the title sent to the dealership, and called me when it arrived so I could pick it up. I have been to many car dealerships over the years, and this was a very good experience. I would feel comfortable coming back again or recommending Pelham Imports to someone looking for a vehicle. We were greeted with the smile and professionalism. Unfortunately, every car that we looked at had been crashed and had many flaws. I don't know for a fact, but my son questioned whether they get all of the salvaged cars to resell. They have a good prices and quite a bit of selection so if that's what you're looking for this might be a good option for you. However, I chose to go with another car lot.

Buyer Beware - My Experience with Moody I'm posting this…read morereview in hopes that no one else has to go through what I've experienced. I purchased a vehicle from Moody and had to return the same day due to a check engine light and Stabilitrak error. A staff member diagnosed it as a gas cap sensor issue and assured me it was minor. I asked several times if they were sure--each time I was told yes. Then I was met with radio silence for two days. The day after I picked the vehicle back up, the check engine light came on again--along with tire sensor warnings. Les Schwab confirmed that the tires were dangerously bald, with wires sticking out, and unsafe to drive. I had to immediately replace all 4 tires and recalibrate the sensors--out of my own pocket. The engine light? Three different transmission specialists all found cleared transmission codes and nothing about a gas cap. When I tried to speak with the owner, I was ignored repeatedly. Selling a vehicle in this condition is illegal under multiple Washington state laws, including: RCW 46.70.101(1)(b)(viii) - Selling an unsafe vehicle is a violation of dealer licensing laws. RCW 62A.2-314 - There is an implied warranty that a vehicle is merchantable and safe to drive. RCW 19.86 - Misrepresentation or concealment of defects violates consumer protection laws. RCW 46.37.425 - Selling a car with tire tread under 2/32 of an inch is illegal. As a recently single mother trying to rebuild my life, this has been emotionally and financially devastating. I've filed complaints with the Washington State Department of Licensing and the Attorney General's Office, and I'm still asking Moody to do the right thing: Take back this car or replace it with one that is actually safe to drive.

Before payment, you're treated like a valued customer they desperately need. My temporary tag expires in a week, and I still haven't received the car title they were supposed to mail out. I checked with the local DMV and there's no record of my information. I've called every relevant department, and each one says they'll look into it and get back to me--but days have passed and absolutely no one has followed up. So I don't recommend this place at all. If you don't want to create trouble for yourself, stay away from them.

The mechanics at Long Lewis Alabaster said that their inspection didn't find any issues, but after taking the car to my personal mechanic as soon as I could (one week after purchase), he found (and showed me) that the car I bought needs new front brakes and has an engine coolant leak, so now, I have to put over $1,500 dollars into a car that I was told was in good working order. I will NOT be returning to Long Lewis Alabaster for another vehicle purchase in the future. I'm rating two stars only because the salesman was nice, polite and seemed honest.

I came to the dealership to look at a particular car that had just been traded in. I was assigned…read moresalesman Rob Hurt, and he was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored not only that vehicle but several others on the lot. Before leaving that first visit, I test drove a vehicle that I really liked. Rob explained that I could place a $300 refundable deposit to hold the car while I finalized the insurance and financing details related to my totaled vehicle. Since the deposit was refundable, there was no risk, so I decided to put it down before leaving. Over the next several days, I made a few visits to the dealership to make sure it was truly the right vehicle for me. I even brought my son back so he could test drive it and give it another look. Rob was very patient and accommodating through the entire process. There was one visit where I became quite frustrated and was honestly tempted to walk out. I was simply trying to keep the car on hold and needed to leave so I could get my son home to study for an exam. However, either Mr. Hurt or his manager, Shomari, kept attempting to run my credit and finance the vehicle through their system even after I explained that I would be securing financing through my credit union. That part of the experience felt unnecessarily pressured, and I did express my frustration to Rob. One interesting feature of the process was their high tech system where you go into a private room and complete a virtual meeting to review warranty options and sign paperwork electronically. That was actually a pretty neat and modern experience. During the process, I received an email from Service Director Mr. Bowlin asking how everything was going. I replied honestly and explained the frustration from my most recent visit, but unfortunately I never received a response. I was eventually able to finalize the deal and complete the purchase. Rob was wonderful throughout the entire process, and I truly do not believe he was the one pushing to run my financing through their banks. That was simply the impression I got. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle, the car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I reached out to Rob to ask if the dealership might take care of that in good faith since I had just purchased the vehicle. He checked with the service department and told me they could perform the service, but that I would be charged for it. Personally, I feel that a large, reputable dealership should at minimum ensure the oil is fresh before selling a used vehicle. Shortly after that, Mr. Bowlin emailed again asking what they could have done differently to earn a five star review. I responded and shared the same concerns mentioned here. Unfortunately, I never received a reply to that email either. Overall, the experience was a positive one, largely thanks to Rob's patience and professionalism. A side note worth mentioning (in my opinion) is there are positive affirmations in the restrooms and Christian music playing in the building. My only disappointment was the lack of follow up when I shared concerns and gave the dealership an opportunity to address them. For that reason, I'm leaving four stars instead of five.
