I'm going to school to be a barber and I work during the day so I was at school at night really works around my hours and the teacher is amazing I really get Hands On Learning and I love that atmosphere everybody is very encouraging and I'm learning a lot and it gives me time to be able to have my life and also be able to have my career so that way I can have a trade and it's really fun and it's really great environment and it's safe and I learn a lot of really cool stuff and my Pell Grant covered everything all I had to do was pay $150 admin fee and I was good to go they covered all my tuition fees everything was covered everybody was very great and helpful and they helped me doing my FAFSA right there read more

I have been going to the beauty school for a year, now. It's important to learn that there are many inconsistencies on how this school is run. I go exclusively for pedicures. Simple file, polish and leave. No fancy french, or any kind of junk on the nails. Just a simple, clean pedicure. The first one, I was charged more than what the price list says. the student messed up the polish quite a bit and kept redoing. The second one took 3 hours to do my nails, but she did a nice job, no real complaints except that she forgot to cut the nails. I was charged the right price. The third one filed my toenails and left two crooked. I kept asking her to straighten them and she would say, "how?". So I took the clippers and straightened them myself. The first two pedicures, they sanded down the large callous on my big toes. The third one didn't, called an instructor over and I was told, they are not allowed to sand down the large callous on the big toes, but the first two pedicures, the callous was sanded down. ....... inconsistency. When the instructor told me they're not allowed to sand the callous, I simply took my fingernails and scraped the skin and smoothed the callous. I also didn't get the leg massage, but I was charged the proper amount. Would I recommend this place? I've watched people walk out crying after having their hair done. I have watched instructors try to fix things that the students screwed up. I would be trepidatious about having my hair done there. If you find it difficult to file and polish your toenails, a simple pedicure you can get here, but don't expect that they have been trained to do a professional pedicure. just something to meet the state board exams. What I see and speaking to the girls that do my toes, I have learned that hair weave, false eyelashes, brow art, and making wigs is more what these girls want to do, rather than facials, perms, hair cuts or pedicures.. So, their heart isnt really into pedicures. BUT... if you're a senior, like I said, getting the nails trimmed and polished shouldn't be a big burden on these girls that have their eyes on a larger prize in the beauty industry. Very torn over writring a review for them. It's because I've had good experiences and bad, so the best way is to do the pros and cons Pros $5 haircut with value of $20-30 It's great to give back. These are students hoping for a chance at developing this skill, so often there is an intrinsic reward I leave with after going there Once your in the barber chair-its almost all about you and how to get you what you want. As always, show pictures of the haircut you want either from your personal shots of you or others that capture some angles. It's funny because, you'll have a group of 6 students watching you get your hair cut and discussing every little detail of their trade Kind- they are both kind and eager. Every barber I had for about 2 years have been kind and eager to do a good job Cons: Only go if you have a ton of time to burn. It's a school, so the kids are learning, but normally I'm there from 1.5-2+ hours, which is extensive for a learning curve and $5 haircut Reservations are almost worthless. Student attendance is shifty, so basically with a reservation there is no guarantee they'll have someone to cut your hair. Furthermore, the front desk is quite busy facilitating everything from female care in the beauty area to even the barber shop, so it's not tough on them to have solid communication with the managers of different areas.*ADVICE- even with a reservation call in advance, and do not book one after lunch, because there is no guarantee they'll be there to help you. Eager to service: this both a Pro and a Con. The co. Element is they are so eager, they over promise and under deliver. this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had having a pedicure. I left with a bloody heel.. I blame the management ...she was kind. I blame the management when I said my nail my toe was so overgrown and they didn't have the equipment to trim it down. this gal took 10 minutes to try to shave it down it didn't work. Her supervisor said we don't have equipment to do that. She was nasty and unconforming. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. But I left with a bloody heel from the shaving of my procedure. Management did nothing to help this girl to make my experience OK. I tipped her well. My 45 minute pedicure took over two hours. Which made me late for my next situation at a job interview. The floors were filthy. I didn't even wanna put my feet down. And use the same filthy cloth over and over again. This is a horror show disgusting and horrible. I don't care how much Cheaper to go to a beauty school..this situation was unacceptable. Go to a salon or some Chinese shop. I was shaved until I bled on my heel. Done. The management short girl long dark hair did nothing to make my situation better. She was horrible. We don't use our scissors that to do this. We won't use any other situation to rectify this. Scheduled an appointment well over a week in advance for a silk press. I normally wear my hair in wash and go's and usually have my longtime stylist color and cut my hair in NYC. But due to the pandemic I haven't been able to get to her. But I figure a cut and a trim is trivial. I walk in 5 mins late. I apologize for that. Young Hispanic man working the front desk looks at me and has me sign forms takes my temperature. He tells me we have to see if we have to do hair like yours. I'm like huh? "How long is your hair." I say "it's shoulder length". My hair was in a puff. I have healthy 4b/4c color treated hair. He says "we will see". He goes and gets another Hispanic guy who I assume is an instructor. This guy just flat out says we can't do your hair this late. So I don't even ask why. I just walk out. I actually felt horrible by the way they looked at my hair and dismissed me. People are actually hair texture prejudice and I have experienced it before but never in a million thought a school would be this way. I take very good care of my hair and literally just wanted a blowout and a trim. If you are training future hair stylists you should set the example of customer service. You are setting the tone and creating an experience for clients. People will forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel. I won't return after this experience. read more

I went to this school. The administrator lady was the worst! She SAW ME attempted to get assaulted (a big girl threw a bottle of soda at me) NOTHING WAS DONE! No repercussions, no nothing. That day she also grabbed a student by the name of Steve M. NOTHING HAPPENED TO HER. So I took a break in hopes she would be gone from the school. THEN the school tries to use that break against me saying I don't have a break because I took one when I SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO TAKE A BREAK, The aggressor should have been removed from campus. I only was there for 3 days when I was forced by the lady who runs the salon and other classmates (not even by teacher) to do a pedicure, mind you I had no clue what to do and did not know the first thing about sanitation. Also according to state board you can not preform services if instructor is not present which she wasn't she was out of town. When I refused to do the service I was sent home. I attended HI a few years back when I lived in Florida. I took the electrolysis program and I was very satisfied with the education I received. They very much prepared me for the Board Exam. I recently took some further education here in CA and then realized how great the school curriculum was at HI. The covered everything in such depth at HI. Anyone interesting in the electrolysis program would be well served at this school. Break room has vending machines for food and drinks plus a microwave. There's a great bakery/ coffee shop next door as well as many other shopping places to get food and snacks. School is clean with many bathrooms. read more

Convenient location is about all I can say. They have a high turn over of employees as well as drama throughout the school. They constantly ran out of products to teach us with and had to use our own. Disorganized employees and two months later Im still waiting for my licence for skin care and I got a job at the HyDe but cant work because the school is so disorganized. Try leaving a messege for a return call to find the status and why I cant find my name on DBPR and nobody returns your call. In my life I have never experienced such UNprofessionalism going to get a Mani/Pedi. First off, I get that the nail techs are all students and they are all learning. However, my nail tech painted my nails worse than a 5yr old. I swear a 5 yr old can do a better job. Its uneven, thick in one spot, too thin in others. They lock up the nail polish so if like in my case you mess up a nail (cuz it takes 2 hours to dry if at all for some reason) they act like its a big deal and you have to wait for them to go and unlock and unsign out the polish. Ok, so they aren't that good. But why was my appointment at 1Pm and I was done at 3:45? THEN my nail tech asked me for a ride to the bus stop! Seriously? I mean I took her just out of pure shock & she had the nerve to ask me to stop somewhere to get cash out of an ATM so I can tip her since they couldnt just swipe my card for a tip!!!! (I had bought a Groupon, so the service was already paid for.) Then please tell me why to this day (2days later) the polish is STILL like sticky?!??! I can literally push the polish around and down my nails. Its disgusting. Even more so that I have to go to another salon to redo BOTH nails and toes. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. What sucks even more is because I bought a package from Groupon I still have to get another service from them. I'm thinking I'll visit the Miami Beach location in hopes that it won't be as "ghetto". HI-Casselberry is the most irresponsible institution on so many levels. I had to fight multiple times every class to get adults to please keep their masks up (instructor included). This is while Covid19 cases continued to rise. It is a classroom which students work in close proximity to each other, located in the back of a building. When I repeatedly raised concerns to the provided chain of command the response was delayed, political, and inaccurate. There was absolutely zero regard for a student concerned for their safety. Prospective students should be able to trust the accuracy of advertised protocols, available properly-working equipment, and instructors' ability to accurately teach information (not inaccurately read directly from the school-issued publications while Googling videos). The complacently goes well beyond these basic issues but I don't have the time to spend detailing every issue. I am writing this in fear the combative nature of the leadership I experienced will lead to some sort of retaliation for this review. However I can not, in good conscience, not leave the honest review I wish I had seen prior to my experience. I genuinely expected to be able to trust a school of higher education, accepting government (aka taxpayer's) funds to subsidize their attendees education, would take their role in public health and safety more seriously...or at least the education they promised seriously. This was the furthest from my experience. It appears something in this facility is systemically and seriously off. I experienced constant complaining by both employees as well as students in both my class and students from other class modalities. I genuinely hope this review helps aid another unsuspecting individual from the financial loss, professional delay, and possibly serious health complications due to pandemic complacency. I also wish those stuck as students OR trying to stay gainfully employed during these times the absolute BEST. To those perpetuating this toxic environment, I wish you every courtesy you have shown. At some point you need to realize the people putting food on your families' plates and a roof over your head deserve at least a minimal amount of respect and human decency. Without them, you have no employment. You are doing the entire profession and your community a major disservice. To all, please stay safe & well. read more

I usually get my hair done by my stylist in LA. This time, I thought why not give it a try - if they ruin anything, my stylist could fix it in LA. Boy was I surprised at the quality of work. First, the receptionist was very kind and accomodating. Next, whoever walked by me would say hi and welcome. Then, my student who will graduate in 3 months (Yasmin) introduced herself with a smile and we consulted about my color and cut with Pauline (their instructor). During the color, Pauline would come by and check. For the cut, she did the same thing. My hair has NEVER looked so good. The color matches perfectly and the cut was amazing - all for just 20 bucks. That school institute offers several diverse kind of services as facial, massages face and body, nail and others.
