My son graduated with his MFA in Film Production/Editing Emphasis last May. We realized that he needed help with a resume directed towards the film industry and contacted Hollywood Resumes. Angela responded to our inquiry. She was professional, informative and insightful about what should be included in his resume. She was prompt in responding and had a draft of his resume within just a few days. With a little tweaking, it was in my opinion (I am a retired public sector HR Director) it was the best it could possibly be due to his lack of paid experience. His resume did get him several job interviews (at least one hiring manager commented that his resume was strong), and he did secure one temporary, part-time job. However, he has not been able to land a full-time job as of yet, but we have been told it is a really tough time in the industry right now. Awful experience. The resume provided was not professional nor fit for anyone who has had real working experience in the industry. After 10+ years of work and owning my own company, they suggested that I put hobbies on my resume, that didn't seem very professional. My experience was minimized and turned into one sentence catch phrases like "knows big musicians". They are not fit to put a resume together for a student, let alone someone with real experience, and weren't willing to discuss refunds because they had provided a resume. I paid for a quality, professional, executive level resume and certainly did not receive that. read more

I've worked in the 'industry' for 20+ years as a field, story and later development producer - basically making other peoples' stories come to life - on the creative side. I can't recommend this service enough! My new resume landed me a job the first time I used it. I had been enjoying Hollywood Resumes newsletter for a while, and always considered using their service. But a voice in my head was telling me, "Hey, I have the experience. I have a fancy resume template. I should be good to go, right?" *Spoiler alert - I was very wrong. When I moved to LA, I applied to probably 50+ mid level jobs at studios as I already had a decent amount of experience (3+ years). I've been a screenwriter for over 20 years. With the current writer's strike forcing "pens down" and with no end in sight, I decided it might be time to come up with a Plan B. The challenge was figuring out what kind of jobs my very specific work experience would best qualify me for. Every time I looked at a job posting I was discouraged by the work requirements that I clearly didn't have. I started to look for a career coach, and a lot of coaching programs offered 10 sessions over 3 months for $1500+, with a laborious process of finding your passion and unlocking your potential. I just want(ed) to find a job. Quickly. Then I came across Hollywood Resumes and set up a consult with Cindy. She was incredibly generous with her time and I never felt like she was trying to upsell me to get a longer commitment (other coaches I spoke to made it very clear that it would take at least 3 months to find clarity... and left the door open for another package being necessary after that). I ordered a career coaching session and Cindy was incredibly efficient and on-point helping me hone in on a job search. We went over the allotted hour scheduled but she didn't rush me off or ask to amortize the next session to make up for it. I ordered a second session and we narrowed down my options to a handful of viable career paths. By the end of the second hour (which again went over), I left with a crystal clear shortlist of job titles that I could realistically target. The only negative thing I would say (which was a positive for me), is that Cindy could have charged me for the extra time, easily could have convinced/pressured me into additional sessions, and/or sold a mandatory 4-6 session package rather than a la carte. In other words, you're getting a steal compared to the alternatives out there, whether you have a Hollywood/entertainment background or not.
