These nails look ridiculous & I had two different nail techs trying to do them. they did a fill , cut me all up, covered me in nail glue. then notified me afterwards I had fungus growing under my nail when asked for a refund and to have them removed to prevent infections they declined the refund . The receptionist is super unprofessional did not have any sympathy for the fact that the service was failed. When on the phone I asked to speak to a manager, she proceeded to tell me she was the manager and hung up on me . As a customer paying for there service I have every right to leave a review on any social media or website I want , they proceeded to block me on social media after showing my nails . As a business they do not listen to customers & will not right there wrongs. This whole salon really went downhill It's very disappointing. read more

Sorry for another review, but I wasn't sure how to reach out to the owner. My daughter had a terrible experience today and left in pain because of one of your employees incompetence. She wanted the nails taken off and her money back, which was apparently too much to ask! If I have to take my daughter to the hospital because of this, and since I pay the medical insurance for her I will contact you or a lawyer will for reimbursement of the medical bill! I don't know a whole lot about nails, but I do know my daughters spend a lot of money on them. For the money they spend one would think the solon would know not only could business but just some respect and let someone know when they see something wrong and give a good opinion on what the client should do! But not at this Solon, you have something wrong oh well they will drill down till your cuticles bleed and you guessed it glue some nails on top of the now very painful and bleeding fingers. After doing this they then decided to give my daughter advice, you heard it after doing the nails not before!!! My daughter then told them about how painful her fingers were. My $35 manicure turned into $98 When I questioned why I was charged so much, they said it was because they did acrylic nails with gel on top... I never asked for that. I went in on a Saturday afternoon. They had open seats with techs not doing anything. The girl at the front desk didn't say hi or anything and said it would be just a few minutes. It was almost 40 minute wait. The guy who did my toes, was cool. But the girl who did my nails was rude and didn't acknowledge me. My other problem- wayyyyyyyy expensive!! I spent over 55 on my toes for a gel pedi- not including tip and then my nails was 60 for dip mani. It's only been 2 weeks since I went and my dip mani already has cracked!!! Like, wthhhh!!!!! Dip color should stay on for at least a month. If I wanted to spend over $130 dollars on my nails, I would have went to Michelangelo's salon and spa or to Crocker park. I used to come get my nails done here years ago & I was always pleased on how they did my nails. I recently got my nails done here & I absolutely loved how they did my nails. My sister & I wanted a full set. She called 10 mins before they closed to see if they can fit us in. They said they could. It took about 25-35 mins to do a full set. The nail tech was fast but wasn't sloppy. I liked how she just did my nails & didn't try to make small talk. It was so relaxing! It only cost $24 for a full set which I thing is inexpensive. The place gets busy so, I would come in the earlier the better. Wow this place has gone so far downhill. I just left after an hour of sitting there.... waiting. Sorry, but after a full day of work the last thing I wanna do is be ignored for an hour. The owner, Dina, realized it too as a I walked out - this type of thing happens all the time. This place is like an Asian sweatshop, it's kind of sad. Their employees are worked to the bone, and it's a shame this place is not checked out by the BBB. The work quality sucks too- I have to go back weekly anyways to get them fixed cause they chip. I've never felt the need to request a specific nail specialist because they've all been great throughout the years. Today I tried someone new. I was really excited to try this place out. My friend bought me a gift certificate and sadly I won't be back. When I arrived the receptionist didn't say a word to me. She tapped on the clipboard motioning for me to sign in and then I asked her "ok is that it?" And she just nodded to me. I actually texted my friend to ask if she was deaf or mute. Nope just really bad at customer service. My nail tech shaped my nails really weirdly and the way they apply the gel is not satisfying to the eye. It's very thick and looks like you have press ons. I *USED* to go to Hollywood Star regularly for gel polish, dip nails, pedicures, etc. After I was treated rudely by Dina, I stopped going there for quite some time and after about a year I decided to give them another try. On and off I was still treated rudely, but decided to not let it get under my skin. I ALWAYS made appointments and was on time or early 99% of the time...there was one time that I was late (like 5 minutes) and received rude/passive aggressive comments from Dena - yet they are consistently late for your appointment by 20-30+ minutes with zero acknowledgment that the customer had to wait or let alone an apology. My husband purchased a gift card for me to treat myself so I called and made an appointment near Christmas to get my nails done. When I made the appointment I explained that I wanted ombré gel polish and a paraffin treatment - I was told that would be an hour and a half appointment - no problem I was off of work anyway and I was treating myself. I got there and waited for my appointment for over 30 minutes - again zero acknowledgment or apology for the wait. When it was finally time for me to get my nails done I showed the tech what I wanted - nothing fancy or complicated. It was a total disaster and looked terrible - it was all I could do to keep from crying they were so awful. I calmly and politely told the tech I did not like it and to please take it off - that was a problem - sighing and eye rolls. She then said she couldn't do what I wanted (I specifically asked when I made the appointment to make sure the tech could do ombré and was told she could). I then asked what COULD she do? She ended up painting my nails white with glitter - not at all what I wanted or asked for. Oh yeah, and the paraffin treatment? Never happened. At that point I didn't even care - I just needed to get out of there. I went to my car and cried because I was so mad and frustrated and hated my nails. I did have another appointment booked and from the parking lot called to cancel it. The receptionist did ask why and I said because I hated my nails and would never be back and the response was "okay, your appointment is canceled". I'm sure Dina will have some smart remark for my review, but potential customers should read the reviews - common denominator is Dina and her terrible attitude and customer service. I had a appoint on November 27,2021 at 12:30 I had even called a few days earlier to see if I could get in earlier the girl told me that I didn't have a appointment because my girl was off she scheduled me with someone else the day before they send you a text to remind you about your appointment this was Friday and I also got a reminder for the appointment she said I didn't have so I get there at 12:30 and it was locked up tighter then Fort Knox. I've been getting my nails done here since I was a teenager. We're talking nearly 20 years. They advertise walk-ins and I have NEVER been turned away as a walk-in. In fact, one time, when the receptionist said she didn't think they could get to me, Henry, the owner insisted they would take care of me and they did. I have seen is wife Dina do the same with other customers. You might wait, but they will take care if you. Today I walked in about 4:45 and they close at 6. There was one person getting nails done and one waiting and several nail technicians cleaning. I just wanted gel polish. I asked a couple questions of the receptionist about dip powder because I was considering trying it. And she basically stopped me mid-sentence, explaining that they were closing in an hour and she didn't want me to wait and end up not getting nails done but it was up to me. So I said I would wait (thinking I've never had an issue). Before I could get even write my name down she emphasized again how they might not get to me, there was no one available right now and there were still appointments coming in, etc. At that point I said fine, that I would come back another time. She then started insisting how it was totally up to me, was I sure I didn't want to wait, etc. Here's the thing, she already made it clear she didn't want me there. I get it, it's Saturday and you probably want to get done early. But I also know this:if they had appointments coming in they had to be scheduled for 5. I have had appointments there before and the latest you could make them for was top of the last hour. So, you would figure SOMEONE should be able to do my 20min gel polish, even if it wasn't until 5:30. Neither of the owners Henry or Dina were around at that moment and I'm pretty sure if they were they would have assured me they would get to me. read more

The great thing about this place is they have lots of nails techs working during the day so there is rarely a wait list when you walk in! I would recommend asking for Teresa! The tech hunked acrylic on top of my nails. She did not file, buff or do anything to make them look natural or more appealing. She CLUNKED nail polish on them. Her technique was horrible. PROS: Both appointments and walk-ins welcome. Fairly clean. Pretty thorough pedicures. Carries a decent range of nail polish colors by OPI and China Glaze. Staff are fairly fluent in English. CONS: Quality of service varies between individual estheticians. Their drying machines are on the weak side, and the interior decor/setup is more sparse than relaxing. Inadequate ventilation--not that noticeable during down times, but during peak hours (usually weekends), the fumes can be overwhelming. Pricing on the high side, for what you get: $15 mani, $25-30 pedi TRUE RATING: 2.5 stars. Rounding up only because the pedis were pretty thorough and Pat--petite, middle aged lady I've never worked with--has a loyal clientele who swear by her. -- Hollywood Star Nails is anything but glamorous. It's a Parma strip mall nail salon with a fittingly tacky name, sparsely decorated, harshly lighted, and inadequately equipped for ventilation during peak hours. Also noted: NO tanning equipment in sight. Perhaps they have a bottle of spray tan they'll use at your behest? Perhaps I wouldn't be so harsh if I'd worked with Pat, but every time I go, I go with somewhat who's made an appointment with her already. But from just observing, she's obviously one of, if not the most seasoned of the staff. Unsurprisingly, she's on high demand. She does thorough work, remembers you and all your preferences, and has a compassionate and caring attitude. I'm used to cheaper pricing in Los Angeles--but maybe this is moderate in Cleveland: $15 manicures, $25 pedis. The pedis are pretty thorough: hot foot bath, massage chairs that have seen better times, foot/lower leg massage, the works. They even take a metal cheese grater to your heel to get it silky smooth! Ok, it's probably not a cheese grater, but it certainly looks like one and gets great results. I wasn't so impressed with my manis though. Both times I've gone, I spent at least 30-40 minutes under their drier after my polish application and got smudges/gunking within an hour. When I returned for touch-ups, my esthetician was reluctant to do anything, and then I was lectured that my nail polish wouldn't really dry until 2 hours later. Um, why did I even bother sitting under a dryer then? Though the dryers were rather weak and had no heat to them, just cool air. I also had a suspicion the fact that she put too many coats on might have made a difference. And if you want to say that's the nature of the polish, maybe you should apply some quick-dry drops to your handiwork. I wanted this mani for a wedding the following weekend and by then, it was mostly ruined. Not sure if this is particular to my esthetician, but I was required to pay and tip between services--after my pedi but before my mani--which I found awkward. Which begged the question: is my mani going to be better depending on how I tip you? If I go back for both in the future, I'll ask to pay first. I hate to spend more than I usually do on a haircut for just nails, but I'll probably end up shelling out at a higher-end salon for a manicure the next time I have to attend a formal event. Unless you get one of the more requested staff (Pat) or someone more seasoned, there are too many alternatives to make the likelihood of an ineffective mani from Hollywood Star worth the hassle. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. Went for my second appointment this morning at 9 AM. Nobody bothered to even open business until 910. As I'm sitting there even though I was the first one in they started taking other people so I asked when my technician will be in. Turns out they never even made an appointment for me! The receptionist was very nasty and said I didn't have one like I made the mistake! So I asked what we could do about it and she's very nastily told me nothing at this time. There should be a red alert warning available in comments!! This salon is to be avoided for your health's sake! My first appointment went well and my acrylic/gel polish looked great. Next app, different tec, I was told I had mold underneath the polish on my nail and the nail was green after she removed the gel polish. I was extremely upset as I was told it would just grow off the nail but was told it was ok to put polish on. I was not pleased with the mold situation or the polish which was way too thick. I called the manager who told me to come in and she would remove the polish. Five of my nails had red/black & blue lines at the cuticle. Dina the mgr told me the marks were on my nails - obviously - but put there by the tech's removal of my polish with the tool used for that. My mom and I have been going here for years. When I first began going, I would always get acrylics. If you are looking for clean, natural looking acrylics I would highly recommend this place. I have recently switch to shellac and I was just as impressed ($21 for shellac). The staff is also friendly, quick and efficient. It took me 20 minutes to get a manicure and shellac, and the results were as wonderful as if it took an hour.
