For starters.. I needed a hair cut. Badly. At this point, it was almost a year if not longer since my last cut. I used to be one of those people that insists that it's cheaper to do my own hair. Notice I said "used to be". Normally I'd bleach my hair at home, color it every couple weeks or month depending on what mood I was in. At one point, I even had dreadlocks. Which over the years & in the end.. took a nasty toll on my hair. I finally decided to let it be healthier & try to better my ways. This being, letting a professional handle it. Anyways, my cousin had told me about this salon - she has been coming here for a long time. I reached out to Tiffany for a consultation. Although embarrassed, I told her about all of my past & recent hair mistakes. I did want some coloring done - my hair was covered in dark box dye with some bright red underneath it somewhere. I knew my hair was damaged, but as a priority, still needed a cut regardless. She helped me make an appointment to visit as soon as possible. On arrival, I was greeted by her assistant Madie. Super nice & smiley - which I loved. She guided me to the chair & put my cape on. She even offered me a beverage. I was already loving this place. Tiffany greeted me shortly after - also, super nice & friendly. At this moment, I loved everyone's personalities. Tiffany cut my hair & Madie had washed and styled it. Both of the ladies were very informative & explained every step they did along the way. I left with a fresh do & an appointment for color! About a week later, I returned for color. A fresh balayage. Tiffany knew about the dark box dye & underlying red color on my hair. We went over a few photos I had picked out. Dissected them together, figuring out what would work best for me. I went into this journey knowing that we might not be able to lift my hair to be as light as I picked out - I was okay with that. I really appreciated the time they put into helping me understand everything. Madie & Tiffany both worked on my hair as a team & conquered it. In the end, with a few processes and treatments later.. we were able to get a fall inspired color (much lighter than anticipated). We named it "pumpkin chai". In the future, I can return to have it lightened further. For now & for fall tho.. I'm gonna leave it be. I'm very happy with my experiences at Vivid. Their knowledge and expertise is far beyond other salons. They're constantly furthering their skills whenever possible. Which is super important to me. Staying on top of current trends, colors or processes - is how you stay the best! I would recommend anyone to give them shot. Came here 9/7/18 to get makeup done by Terri for my best friend's wedding. First of all, the ambiance here is on point. The front desk receptionist was very friendly and attentive. Terri was amazing. She was so nice and I even trusted her with my eyebrows. That's a big deal for me lol. The makeup looked perfect. I was getting compliments all night! If I could submit this review with no stars, I would. I do not believe this salon is even worth one. I came upon Vivid Salon after searching for Top Salons in the Greater Cleveland Area. At the time, they had good reviews and by the looks of their social media platforms, I really liked the work I saw. The first time I went to Vivid, I asked for a trim and ended up walking out with my hair 4.5" shorter. Now mind you, my hair grows EXTREMELY slow and I have been working on growing it our for years. Literally. Years. I was in total shock about how short my hair was but I figured that maybe it just really needed a trim, so I did my best to not dwell on how short it was and just move on. The next appointment I had was for a full-color and hair cut. I wanted a deep violet color for fall but instead, my hair was dyed red (and I mean RED). I know I should have said something right away but I didn't because I felt bad (even though I had NO reason to feel bad). Just like with the hair cut, I did my best not to be mad or upset. I waited a few days, thinking that the new color would grow on me but it didn't. I eventually called and asked that it be fixed, which it was. As for the haircut, I was told that with any service, it would be $10, however, I was still charged the FULL price. Over the course of two years, my expereince with Vivid was very mediocre at best. I always felt like things were rushed and they were SO PUSHY with selling their products. I fully understand that they want to make sales but it's uncalled for when I say no three times and I'm STILL being persuaded into purchasing a product. With each visit, they grew more unprofessional. Their prices continued to fluctuate and were also inconsistent (one visit I would be charged some kind of fee and the next I wouldn't, or I'd be told my services were one price and be charged another). To this day, I could not tell you what a hair cut costs. After trying two different stylists and giving the salon numerous chances over two years, I was completely DONE after my last hair cut. I could go into the whole story, but they say a picture is worth 1,000 words, so take a look at my picture. Not only is my hair about 7" shorter than it was prior to me going to Vivid, but it looks like my haircut was never even finished!!! This was my LAST straw...there is NO excuse to let someone walk out of your salon with their haircut looking like this! I refuse to ever go back to Vivid, and I will be sure to steer everyone I know clear. read more

I made an appointment for cut style blow out and condishioning a week prior, confirmed via txt. They called me 1 hr before my appointment to cancel because of the supposedly 2 wedding parties. Meaning, they booked someone after me that could make more money of. I said canceling was not an option for me since I had a wedding to go to and already bought the groupon. The girl on the phone responded " uggghhh then, you can come so we can get you out of the way". I showed up 30 min early, just so they could finish me before the "wedding parties". There were other hairdressers working on one wedding party, but Amy, my stylist, was still not there. When she arrived 30 min later, the first wedding party left and the hairdressers were ordering food. For the remaining time I was there, there was NO OTHER WEDDING PARTIES coming. Amy just looked at me and asked me what I wanted. I said I bought the groupon for cut blow out and style. She had a terrible attitude and was barely talking to me. She brushed and partially dried my hair, took the towel off, and said "done". Then added " what, you want some hair spray?!" I said that I also paid for styling my hair. She said that style is an up do and I have to pay extra. I explained that I don't want an updo! Just style! Then she said that style is the blow out drying. I showed her the coupon that distinguishes between STYLE and BLOW OUT. She made a face and said: "well then, your hair is long and u have to pay extra" She half assed my curls on half wet hair, barely even touched my hair with the scissors. Never corrected the undone curls. I tipped, like I always do, was nice and respectful. But, trust me I will never be back in this unprofessional place. This is my first time writing a review for a hair place. I just wanted to let the future customers know what is waiting for them: a half assed style done by someone who puts no effort in it, hairstylists who make decisions about up charges without management consult, and prioritize food over customer care. read more

I started coming here in 2006. Since then theres a new owner, the previous owner is still there it was a passing the torch sort of thing I think. The owner is great, she did a lot of updates and really added a lot of different services. Shes really progressing with the times, but they still have their older clientele and supply the services they need to do their best. Tiffany is a color goddess. EVERYONE asks where I "Get my red done". The prices are very reasonable. The owner also hires in new graduates and trains them beautifully. Like to support local? Here you go! Great parking. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Was going from dark to light and my stylist told me she was going to "lighten" me. Not knowing she meant BLEACH, I agreed. She bleached my entire head (when a normal stylist would've probably just thrown some highlights in to lighten in). So my hair was bleach blonde, slightly orange. Then she darkened my roots and they turned bright orange. So I walked out of the salon with white hair and orange roots. It was horrendous. The worst part is, the stylist LOVED it and actually thought it looked good. She said she was surprised my hair didn't fall out as much as she thought it would (who says that to a client?!) I went to my normal stylist the very next day to get it fixed and everyone at the salon just laughed and asked if I had done it myself. I never leave Yelp reviews but this was actually the worst experience I've ever had with my hair. The stylist just didn't listen at all to what I wanted, and the end result looked NOTHING like the picture I showed her. I always wanted to get highlights but hadn't since maybe 1998? I have not had a cut, color and highlights for God knows when!! I've had some great cuts from a super guy at another place I've been going to since late 90's but always did my own color! He did a couple of times but my gray comes back fierce and fast!! I'm not the girly type and always had reservations about having someone do color and highlights. Honestly, I've never wanted to spend the $$. I did one time and regretted it! I was desperate and I really regret it!! Totally different salon from both I've gone to! Big mistake!! Booked appointments too close together. Didn't have time to finish all my services. I had a am appointment for a hair cut and eyebrow wax. She greeted me, introduced herself and varified that we were doing a cut and eyebrows. The stylist did a wonderful job on the cut and style. I don't feel like she rushed through in when she was behind. I am happy with the cut. There was no time for my eyebrows which she didn't even mention. She gave me coupons and rushed me over to pay, no apology. Nothing. I mean she didn't even tell me she wasn't going to do it. It was light there was no mention of eyebrows what so ever. And the person who had the appointment after me was waiting for at least a half an hour. If this review was based on the cut along it would be 5*. I'm in love with Vivid Salon. After my first trip here, it was a definite like (it started out a bit rocky) but I wasn't sure I wanted to be committed. I was in need of a new place to go and was feeling fickle - I found a good deal from Vivid on Groupon and figured it was worth a shot. After all, sometimes it's a lot more fun to keep your options open. I've decided that it would take a lot for another salon to catch my eye at this point. I mean, sure I will still appreciate other salon's work, but I'm ready to settle down with vivid. Terri is my hair girl of choice, although I've seen some great work from the other people there (do I covet the sweet grandmother's style I saw on Thursday? No, but I can tell it was done well and with care - and it looked good on her). I'm pretty picky with my hair, and let me just say that at my most recent visit I told Terri that while I really liked the most recent color, I wanted something different and pretty much left it up to her. If you would have heard me say that a year ago, you would have been hauling me away - I mean, I pretty much put my head in her hands and said, go ahead, honey, do what you think is best. Whoa. That is big for me. Anyway, the color is fantastic and my hair is super shiny. The cut is wonderful - Terri is great at listening to how often you'll style your hair and what you want the end result to be. She and I both know that short of a lot of extensions, I will never have Blake Lively's thick mane (well, and dying my hair blonde which I've done and let's just say I've been there and it won't happen again). Terri is awesome with a pair of scissors - she knows how to get each individual hair to lay just right. Also, as someone who has to do continuing education, I appreciate how often Terri is taking classes and learning more about hair (way above and beyond what she has to). Just looking at her when she talks, her whole face lights up and you can see her passion for her work (she's also super funny!). I've only done cuts and color here, but I'm tempted to get nails done at some point soon. From checking out their Facebook page, it also appears that they do client education classes (I really am interested in getting tutored on how to blow dry my hair because I am no blow pro). I know that they accept walk ins, but when I've been there they have always been busy enough that you are better off getting an appointment - and they are really great about trying to work with your schedule (especially if you are someone like me where you do not ever have any bit of a stable, set schedule). read more

I went in for a angled bob as I am growing out a pixie cut, my hair was at least 5 inches long on top, All I needed was a trim and little shape up. I left with a shag... After growing my hair out for 4 years I decided it was time for a cut. A cut.... not a chop. I made an appt with Terri. I told her I just wanted to shape it up and make it healthier that my bangs were the perfect length and I needed them to stay that way for work because my hair is pulled back every day. I showed her a picture with some layers and wavy but it definetly wasn't this short. She ignored everything I said and literally just did what she wanted with no regard for what I said or what works with my hair. I now have the worst haircut of my life which is choppy, uneven and resembles a mullet now. I can't even wear it up the way I need to for work anymore. The only way to fix it is to cut even more off and go with bangs which I did not want at all. I appreciate that I was given a refund after calling and complaing but that doesn't fix the horrible damage done. read more

Bought a Groupon deal for Vivid and I'm really glad I did. Terri did an amazing job on my cut and color, both of which were pretty extensive. I trusted her judgement and it turned out great. I gave this place a try since it's down the street from my new house. It was a complete waste of money and I wish I never went. I have gotten many gel manicures and spa pedicures in my life and this was the worst experience I have ever had. The pedicure is this horribly uncomfortable seat and with a lower back problem you are sitting in the worst position possible. No matter what I tried I could t get comfortable so I didn't enjoy my pedicure. She didn't do anything special other than a scrub. Then my manicure was a big disappointment. She barely cut back my cuticles and two days after the manicure I had to cut them myself. But the worst part was my thumb began peeling LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THE MANICURE!! Every finger peeled off less than two days after. Like I said I have had many gel manicures done and I have never had this problem. It peeled off without even ripping some of my nail. It was like a sticker was on my nail. She put some oil on my cuticles before she applied the polish and I have never had that done before. My guess is that was the issue. The absolute worst part of this was the price. For a half done manicure and not very comfortable pedi it was $90!!!!!! And yes I know I could have called and complained/ gotten it fixed, but why bother. I wasn't impressed with the place and I don't have confidence my polish will stay on again. I went to two different stylist over a two year period so I definitely tried to give them a chance. They just don't listen to what it is you're wanting. I've had extensions there, hair color, hair cuts, gel nails etc so I really did give them a chance. I only had my nails done one time and it was so awful! They were chipped by the next day and I don't mean just a little bit. It was ridiculous. They're also inconsistent with pricing too I was told that a hair cut is $10 if you have a service like color or extensions done but when it came time to pay it was the normal price. I asked for my extensions to be fixed when I went for my hair color appointment that was made on the phone because there were 7 of them matted but because it was the end of the day they didn't have time, and it wasn't like I asked last minute. I asked for the little bit of grey on top to be covered up and they didn't do a total cover, hence not listening to what you want. My experience with Vivid Salon and Spa was not the greatest. I called a month ahead of time to make a hair and makeup appointment for my mother and I for Labor Day morning (the day I was getting married). Four days ahead of my appointment, I get a call saying sorry, we have to reschedule your appointment to another day because we're actually closed that day. I told them that I couldn't reschedule since it was for my wedding. They said try to call around and find someone else and if you can't find anyone, give us a call back. Well I called around and no other places were open Labor Day. I looked online and did a search for people who travel to do hair and when I called them, all said they were already booked or needed more notice than 4 days ahead. I called Vivid back and they said we'll try to see if any of our stylists are available to come to you. Two days go by and then they finally tell me that they Brittany and Jamie will be coming to us to get us ready. When I touched base with Jamie, I found out the prices for coming to us vs. going to the salon were more expensive than I was originally quoted but again I didn't have a choice as I needed someone to help us get ready. The day of the wedding is here and I get a text message saying they're going to be late. They only showed up about 20 minutes late but it still would have been nice if they were on time since we were on such a tight schedule. Next, Brittany starts working on me while Jamie works on my mom. Both Jamie and Brittany seemed very unprepared. They asked us to borrow a hair dryer and asked us if we had some of our own makeup then Jamie took my hair brush off the counter to use on my mom. I wouldn't have been upset about this but for the fact that Jamie packed up my hair brush with her stuff and took it with her and by the time I realized it, it was the next morning as we were getting ready to go to the airport for our honeymoon. Jamie did a good job though on my mom's hair and makeup-my mom looked very nice. Brittany on the other hand did not do as great of a job. My makeup looked okay but she didn't have anything to cover up blemishes on my face so I used my own makeup for that. I hated my hair. It was uneven on both sides and looked like a frizzy mess and she could tell I hated it as she kept saying, "you know you can tell me you don't like it, it won't hurt my feelings." I told her it was okay because what was she going to do? It took her 3 hours just to do that monstrousity and it was hairsprayed beyond belief and by that time people were in our room starting to get dressed for the wedding; I just wanted them to leave. In case your wondering just how bad my hair looked, my mother in law saw me and asked if I wanted a hair brush to "fix" my hair when she saw me at the wedding venue. Overall, I would never recommend Vivid to anyone. Yes they came through for me and found someone to do our hair for us, but it was their fault they cancelled in the first place, I was charged more for it, and I looked horrific for my wedding day.
