First I want to sincerely apologize to Bart for this extremely overdue review, there are no excuses! We purchased our new house in 2000 and found that the two rooms to the west of the house were ridiculously warm and were not receiving as much a/c as the rest of the house. It finally came time to replace our a/c and I called several companies to get a quote. As expected (and not surprised with the customer service in south FL), I either did not receive calls back to the messages I left; or, for those few that did show up, they gave us outrageously high quotes and did not give us a confidence level that they could fix our issue with the two rooms. As I continued to call companies for quotes, I called Holmes Cooling & Heating, Inc. To my surprise, someone actually answered the phone and it was also the owner. We scheduled an appointment and he was right on time. I explained what was happening and after analyzing the situation, he proposed an a/c that would provide full coverage to the entire house, redesigned the area for the air handler to accommodate the larger a/c, and made the ducts much wider (and other adjustments) to get the same a/c coverage in the two rooms as the rest of the house was getting. Bart Holmes takes extreme pride in his work and it shows when you watch him work and ultimately when the job is done. I would highly recommend Holmes Cooling & Heating, Inc. to anyone looking for someone that has years of experience and in-depth knowledge in the industry. I called Holmes Air Conditioning and the phone was answered by the owner Bart Holmes. I explained my issue which was my home air conditioner would turn on but would sometimes blow hot air. After talking with me for a good 10 minutes, Mr. Holmes set up an appointment to meet with me at my home the next day. He met me at the time discussed and spent well over an hour diagnosing and going over options with me. Because the a/c only does this some of the time and was working properly he told me that my best option was to wait until it did it again and then call him back so he could properly diagnose the problem before I dump money into it chasing possible solutions. I believe his professionalism and honesty is rare in South Florida and almost unheard of in the air conditioning business. The charge for the service call and hour of his time was $50.00. I contacted Holmes based on reviews I had read online. I am leaving this review because I was so impressed with the HONESTY and INTEGRITY of Bart Holmes the owner. I was dreading the thought of replacing my a/c and the giant cost so imagine my surprise when Bart came out on the same day and within 5 minutes figured out the issue and resolved it! He could have easily told me I needed a replacement which I'm sure many other companies would have done. Bart came out for a routine check of my a/c. He did the usual checks and water washed the outside unit to clean out the debris. When he turned the unit back on he did not like the sound of the unit. He added about a pound of freon. He said some valve seemed to be sticking. He turned the unit on and off to clear the problem. In all he was there for almost four hours and would not leave until he felt the unit was working properly. He only charged me for the one pound of freon. I am not used to service people who really care about doing the job properly and who have the knowledge to actually do it. Very impressed. read more

bart holmes installed my AC unit in 2015. the air handler was in the roof, the installers pitched it wrong...and the water went straight through my ceiling. So they had to come back and fix that and he gave me a whopping $100 to fix my ceiling. In 2019 the motor to the compressor blew out... This unit had a 10 year warranty...and he said it would be too long to wait to do paperwork and everything so he charged me $700 to fix it So imagine...this guy had me by the balls.....I've remodeled a dozen homes and never saw such a jerk.... I thought my air conditioning unit required major servicing and was prepared for the worse. However, the problem turned out to be minor and was remedied in short order. A routine service/inspection charge was all I had to pay. In addition, I was shown how to perform simple, routine maintenance procedures to keep my air conditioner in good working order without the need for additional service calls.
