I waited a long time to write this review... Jonathan had our dog maybe 6 months ago and he's now a year old. I wanted to not just write a simple review but to really be honest and sincere because we researched for months to find the right place to train our pup. Our dog is a German Shepherd - Great Pyrenees mix and while he was doing well at wanting to please, he was super stubborn, guarded our home and WOULD not come back for any recall. Now, now, he's the most well behaved and amazing dog, he comes back 100% of the time with just the word "here" and he can jump up where I tell him, he barks once at passers by, but knows that's all. He can do off leash like a pro, today I took him to the trails and he stayed right beside me off leash the entire time I asked. Right now he's sitting in his "place" as he does whenever someone comes to the door. These are all things I tried training him before we sent him to Jonathan that did not work or stick no matter how hard I tried. Right now, I can open the front door, invite him out, and he will stay with me, if he does walk away, he'll come right back when asked. All of this would not be possible without Jonathan. There are some caveats I would say though. If you read the reviews you'll see Jonathan isn't the greatest communicator, and I won't disagree, he's really a dog person, not a people person, but for the care of my dog I want a dog person; if he was great with me but awful with my dog I'd be pissed. His services are expensive. And it will take longer than expected, so expect to bring the dog food and meds and maybe buy him a bed for being at Jonathan's, but it's very much a trust the process, he tells you up front, but he won't bring the dog home till the dog is ready. The other reason I waited for the review is so I could review the extended care and warranty. Upon his return I was unhappy with my dogs progress and I called Jonathan and he came back to me for another whole session to help. Not surprisingly, I was not doing it right... and the true value of his work is what you put into it after, we have been texting and videos and emails with him for the last six months and he's been able to guide us and has invited us to come back for more sessions to fine tune our concerns. If you just give him the dog and then don't expect to train after, you'll loose, because that's just not real, but if you use the essential and reinforce them you'll have a dog you love to be with every day. He mostly gave us the language to talk to our dog, and now we can work with him with ease. I would suggest if you want to invest in your dog, your life, your friendship and relationship with the dog, invest in Jonathan. read more

I can't recommend Jonathan enough. Slater is over 100lbs and was so wild I couldn't even walk him. I was honestly at the point where I thought I'd have to rehome him. I was super hesitant to leave him at all, but the results were so outstanding that it was 100% worth being apart for the four weeks it took. Jonathan is great because he doesn't do any of that crazy stuff like withholding food--he just took the time to see how Slater responded and used what worked for him. Now, I can actually take my dog out to lunch! Even better, Obie is now my service dog for my epilepsy. Jonathan seriously saved my dog and changed my life. Here's what I don't get with the negative reviews, you send you dog to sleep away camp and training, no one can train a dog in a set amount of time and all of these people want their dogs fixed in x amount of time. But dogs move at their own pace, and to think you can say it will always take this amount of time to get it done is simply insane. And then theres the people who want photos of their dog the whole time. These people clearly never went to camp, you kiss your parents good bye and then you go get dirty and learn to be a kid, same with your dog. My dog is confident on and off leash, he understands place a way for him to calm down, he's such a better boy since going to Holy City Canine. I can't recommend them more. read more

I was raised with dogs which were never trained. I decided to get a dog once I retired so Otto entered my life. Without Jonathan I would've been lost. Otto is a six month old Swissdoodle that keeps growing and is still goofy. With his help I can take this puppy almost anywhere. He walked me through the commands and it's still available should I need help. I have a great puppy because of him that is friendly to almost every dog he sees. He is very well versed on heeling and can be taken to stores and restaurants. My feeling is one year of hard work will bring many years of enjoyment to both of us. Everything that Valerie wrote in her review was pretty much my experience with Jonathan. He promised to send videos every two to three days. I received a total of two videos and one was of my dog playing with another dog. He kept making excuses as to when he would return my dog to me. He rarely answered his phone and was not prompt with returning emails. He might very well be a good trainer but not with my dog. I got the feeling that he was boarding too many dogs at the same time for training and with him being the only trainer. He came highly recommended from a very reputable dog trainer that certified him. I would have hired the first trainer but he was booked for close to 9 months before he could board my dog. I was pushed to the limits and the amount of stories and excuses that I was given made this an unpleasant experience for my dog and myself. read more

Cannot recommend Jon and Holy City Canine enough. He is absolutely a wizard when it comes to dog training. I was able to observe his style and he is extremely positive and loving with each dog. He brings a passion and enthusiasm for the training sessions that made my dog really respond well. I have a three year old rescue that had anxiety issues, would jump on me and guests when I'd come home, and would hover and beg for food. All of those issues fixed and my pup is like a new dog. Johnathan is a great trainer! Great prices! My puppy was out of control but after she came home she was a different dog! Well behaved and followed commands well. He also took the time to train me as well on all of the new things my dog had learned. I chose to use him for my adopted dog. I was drawn to the fact that he keeps the dogs at his house because my dog had already been in the animal shelter twice and I didn't want her to feel like she was there again. When we met with Jonathan, he seemed very confident and handled her well. We scheduled her time for training and when we dropped her off he said to give him a few days for her to get comfortable, then he would keep us updated on her progress. After a week I contacted him to see how she was doing. He texted a quick "she's doing great" and no more updates the entire 3 weeks. When it was time to pick her up I texted and called with no response. I tried once more to text him and he said his other response didn't send. We picked her up and she seemed much better! He said to contact him whenever we needed anything. After we had been home we had a follow up which was helpful. We continued to struggle with some training aspects, so I emailed him... no response. A week later I texted him. He "didn't see" my email so I sent it again. A week later he finally responded and said we need to meet up again then radio silence. Over a week from that I texted him again and he answered saying we should come over. I went to his house for maybe 10 minutes and she did fine. I said that she doesn't behave the same at home so he said he would come to my home. He set a time and then didn't show. I texted him and he said he was at the hospital with someone. He rescheduled for the next day. When I asked what time he said someone had passed away and needed to reschedule again. He finally came and did give some helpful corrections although was condescending . He asked me to send a video of our walks and he would send some helpful videos. I sent my video, no response. He never sent anything. I am absolutely done at this point. He may be great with dogs but he sucks with people. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing . I pictured having a very obedient dog and a boarding place when needed. Instead I have a dog who listens some of the time and I will have to look for a place to board. read more

It is with no exaggeration, that I say Jonathan Street probably saved my dog's life. I adopted a one year old pit mix, that unbeknownst to me, had a great deal of baggage, including severe anxiety and fearfulness. He was destroying my house, he wouldn't listen to any command and he was quite literally afraid of his own shadow. Neither of us were happy with how life was going and I was considering all of my options for dealing with Murphy's issues, including returning him to the shelter. But I believed he deserved a second chance at living a normal life. Luckily, I found Holy City Canine.
