We visited K9 Resorts at their grand opening in Mount Pleasant a few years ago, and have been happy customers ever since. We're so impressed by their facility, professionalism, and especially their kind and capable staff. Our small rescue pup has boarded there several times, and she really enjoys it. I love how she gets to play with other small dogs, indoors and out; we appreciate them having separate areas for large and small dogs. They take excellent care of her, even giving her a nice bath on the last morning. Just picked her up after a stay, and she looked happy, fit, and ready for a nice nap. I'm very disappointed with our recent experience at K9 Pet Resort. My dog developed cherry eye while at daycare, and no one contacted me to inform me that there was a medical issue. I only discovered it myself after picking her up. When you leave your pet in the care of a facility, you expect close supervision and immediate communication if something is wrong. Cherry eye is not something minor, it's a visible eye condition that requires attention, especially for breeds that are already prone to eye problems. The most concerning part of this situation was the lack of notification. As a pet owner, I should have been informed right away so I could make decisions about her care. Daycare staff are responsible for monitoring the dogs and reporting injuries or health concerns when they happen. That communication did not occur, and that breaks trust. I hope the facility improves its health monitoring and owner communication procedures, so this does not happen to another dog. read more

We use their daycare services on a regular weekly basis. The staff is incredibly friendly and the facility is super clean. Our dog races across the parking lot to enter every time. It is competitively priced and we feel very comfortable leaving our pup with them a few times a week. I wish they offered a webcam. read more

Every time we leave our dogs here, we feel assured that they will be loved and cared for well. We have left our babies here twice and each time, we've returned to happy and healthy dogs. The staff are accommodating, understanding, and provide food for their boarders. Since one of my dogs is not friendly with other dogs, we have the option to place both puppies in a suite with each other. It's the best option for us. The space is clean, modern, and sleek. The executive rooms are a great option and give the pups a nice open space. I will always use K9 resorts! read more

I really wanted to like it here. Let's start out by saying I board ours dogs ALOT and just moved back to the area and needed a new place. They love going to "camp" and overnights so figured this place had good reviews. The staff were overall friendly, the place is super clean and smells nice. The policy is you can't let your dog have personal effects that are fabric. My bulldog sucks on his stuffy when he's anxious, nervous, bored and for bedtime. I was very clear about this but they still said No. We got a call later that day that he rubbed himself raw on his leg and was bleeding. They gave him a bath and seemed to have gotten better. Our Great Dane needs a blanket to sleep under but they didn't have that and she couldn't have hers. Baths before they go home is mandatory with no exceptions...which I find odd because if it's for sanitary reasons they should be bathed before the stay not after, but anyways. I said don't blow dry them they can be damp it's ok, they don't like the No and they can't be separated for that long. I was told "they have to be dry before going home." At pick up: They said there was blood in the kennel but they didn't know where it was from. She has a skin tag on her tail that looks like a bug tick she has had since a baby....it looked as if it was torn (freshly)..as in someone thought it was a tick and tried to rip it off...as in during her bath...Then our Dane pulled me to the car, wasn't her jumpy self, crawled on the floor board, got under her blanket and cried for 7 miles looking up at the window. She has NEVER EVER IN ALL BOARDING HAS EVER DONE THIS, SHE WAS TERRIFIED OF SOMETHING OR SOMEONE!!!! the Bulldog ran to the car, grabbed his stuffy and about sucked the face off of it, which is also weird for him. Overall sadly we won't be returning on this one. They have them in other states which we might try while traveling but for this one, it's not for us. read more

My sweet little Frenchie loves K9 resort day camp!. I love the photos and updates during the day. She comes home exhausted. I love that she is getting exercise while I am running errands. I do not send her to day camp very often because Charleston is so dog friendly. I take her everywhere! I would 100% recommend K9 resorts. I found K9 resort from a friend at work. We both have puppies and where looking for places to board our puppies with less crate time. K9 resorts looks awesome online, so we decided to try it. I booked my first consult for my puppy for April. I was excited to go as the advertising and description of the place looked great. The associates working here where super nice and welcoming. They even gave me a tour outside of tour times. I was able to see the rooms and play rooms before I dropped my buddy off. I think a big plus for me was it was supervised play, the standard crates are very spacious, and I liked the long hours for boarding too. Most places close at 6pm, but they open and close at 7pm during the week which is a plus. They are also very accommodating, answered all my questions, and called to give me the results of my pups assessment. I was so worried my puppy wouldn't get time to rest, but he was fine. When I picked him up he was happy when he wanted to go back to play lol. He was so tired when he got home which was a plus for me (they warned me of that). I didn't observe any issues with him either. When he got home he just slept. 4 stars: I gave 4 stars, because when I arrived to pick my dog up they gave me the wrong dog. Looked similar to my dog, but it made me worry that maybe my dog could be given to someone else or not really he know by them (They did apologize). To be a first time client and be handed the wrong pup was kinda not a good first experience. I also gave 4 stars due to not being able to talk with them to confirm my appt the day before. I wish there was a text alert to remind you, but I called all day. At least 4-5 times no answer which made me worry that if my puppy boarded I wouldn't be able to get anyone. (They mentioned they are working on staffing and They called me back within the day.) I also didn't like they didn't post pictures of the dogs everyday. I thought with the availability of staff (supervised play) they could. Which most places who don't have an outside camera you can remote into will be sure to send pic each day. Which to me meant that I couldn't see my dog while he was there by phone or internet. All of this goes to new puppy jitter, however this is a Luxury pet resort so some of those things I expected with the price of the stay. Positive: -nice facility -great staff to help and take puppies back -clean and supervised play time with outdoor space to continue potty training -safe and well kept place for dogs Negative: -my dog was not known -no photos daily on social media -really hard to get someone on the phone read more

I've been taking my dog here for 2 years. We started K9 when Nelly was a puppy at daycare and she now boards there as well. Getting her started here was the best thing I ever did. She is always happy to go back. Even when she is boarded for a few days, she is ready to go back a day or two later. The staff is kind, and they have been there quite a while. There isn't much turn over, which is important because the dogs have consistency. It's very clean and organized. Every dog comes out with a huge smile. read more

3.5 stars after two visits explained! I will say firstly that our dog is always thoroughly worn out after every stay. We're very happy he gets to run and play to his hearts desire. He's also ravenous after each visit too, which I'm guessing is due to all the play, so something to keep in mind whe packing food! We found K9 Resorts from their reviews on Google and had high hopes. We have a 6yo GSD that has been previously been boarded and is active weekly at the dog beach house on Sullivan's without issue. We don't have any disrespect for K9 resorts, but it just is not the place for us. We dropped our boy off for a temperament test and immediately things were off. It felt very cold and uninviting. It was clean and bright though which was very nice. We entered an atrium empty of other customers and I waited a few minutes before I was even acknowledged. After checking him in, someone came up beside me and took his leash without asking or speaking to me. I did not like that at all. It felt like a corporate meeting room-- stuffy demeanor and no smiles. We were called back after an hour and stated he passed and was able to stay the day for daycare. Wonderful. When my husband went to pick him up, he was told that the prong collar we've used with him for years and is vet praised was ill-fitting and too tight on him. It isn't. They are high and fit snug, if you've never used them. Our boy is excited to put his on every time. The employee stated he didn't know how to use it and so he just put it on wrong. Which was a red flag for me on both accounts. I don't think we should be shamed on our own equipment especially when, of course, we know our dog better. We wouldn't have continued with this boarder, but we had already the deposits that are non-refundable. Each time we went in again, it was the same. Cold. No smiles. They take our dog out of our hands without asking. It just felt so off from out of the other pet hospitality places we've used before. This past stay, our dog wasn't given any of his treats/after dinner dental sticks. This company offers a report after visits online, but his are never filled out. Which also is fine, but if it's offered we just expect it. Pictures aren't posted and no updates are given. I also read that some people were offered a tour of the facility which wasn't offered to us virtual or in person. These are just other things we look for. Again, sometimes it's hit or miss. Some places aren't for everyone and sometimes people have off days. We hope every other experience here is better than ours. read more

The staff is very friendly. My suggestion would be to have better communication with clients and among staff. We recently booked our baby for 7 day daycare so we could travel internationally. I was under the impression she was going to be fed after I had personally spoken with staff and asked them to feed her. After 5 days I found out they had not been feeding her because their daycare clients do not normally get fed. I contacted the general manager (highly upset as you can imagine because I had told our babysitter NOT to feed her since K9 was going to feed her) she immediately pulled our baby to feed her. The manager apologized for the misunderstanding and mentioned there will be changes made to an email that gives misleading information about feeding rules etc. I am sure they are wonderful but if you are leaving your pup for daycare, make sure someone else is feeding them! read more

This was my first boarding experience with my new puppy and they exceeded my expectations. You can really tell if a company is efficient by how they handle any problems that arise. I got a call on my second day of vacation that my puppy got stung by a bee. The staff at K9 already had a plan to take her to the vet down the street and kept me updated on how everything went. Not only did the staff give me updates on how my puppy was doing but the vet did as well. The staff at k9 kept a close eye on her after this happened and noticed her injury wasn't improving like it should and got my consent before taking her back to the vet. I know my puppy was in great hands with the staff as they treated her like their own dog. Despite her injury my puppy LOVED her stay at K9 and had a hard time leaving all her new friends. Will definitely be using K9 as our primary daycare and boarding facility! read more

Took my 5 month old puppy here as we traveled across the US. This was her first time being boarded so we were nervous and wanted it to be perfect. The staff here didn't mind us calling to check on her everyday and even gave us little updates about her days there with other puppies. She loved the staff there and we loved having a happy and clean puppy to bring home. We also got a little tooth fairy bag with her name and dates as she lost teeth while we were gone! We have since taken Harley back there for a full day daycare and she loves it.
