I brought my dog in for daycare here a year or so ago, it was one of the most traumatizing experiences we've had. Ten minutes before they closed I was stuck behind an accident on the bridge and I began calling to notify staff I was running behind. No one picked up the phone as I called for 15+ minutes. I get there 5 minutes after close (my fault I get it) but the doors were locked and lights were off. No staff attempted to reach out to me via email call or text. I have absolutely no clue where my dog (my emotional support pet) is. Their policy says under these circumstances that I've abandoned my dog and they may give her to a shelter. Again, I have absolutely no idea where she is. Two panic attacks later, I show up the next day, pick my baby up, and take her home. They still charged me, never apologized and claimed they tried to reach out to me. My number and email on the account were correct (I double checked). I'm begging you not to take your dog here, they do not care about you or them even a little. It's been years and still to this day it is the only time I've lost my temper with a service worker. Please please, please, do not bring your dog here. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would--but unfortunately, Yelp insists on giving something for effort, and I guess showing up 45 minutes late counts? I took my dog in hoping for a basic grooming appointment--nothing fancy, just a bath and a trim. What I got was an emotional support animal who now needs emotional support. My dog came out looking like he lost a bet. His haircut is uneven, his nails were barely touched, and he smells like a weird mix of cucumber melon and regret. The place was messy, the vibes were off, and the owner seemed more interested in scrolling through Instagram than actually grooming dogs. (Maybe if she spent less time stalking her ex and more time focusing on her clients, it'd be a different story.) I genuinely didn't think it was possible to give a golden retriever a mullet, but here we are. Save your pet--and your time. Go literally anywhere else. DO NOT GO TO STACY! read more

Our dog, Buzz (Boykin Spaniel), absolutely loves this place. The last daycare we went to, you could tell Buzz couldn't stand it and dreaded it. Everyone who works at In The Dog House are SUPER friendly and genuinely love dogs. You can just tell every dog is so special to them as if it's their own. Sometimes I feel like Buzz and the employees have inside jokes and I feel left out on the fun! I also like that Buzz doesn't come home smelling like trash - He would always come back smelling like cleaning products at the old place. In The Dog House also offers a variety of individual play time / cuddles which I like to pay for when we board him. I think Buzz really appreciates the extra attention. If I could give zero stars I would. We called ahead and booked a stay for our dogs, and planned our whole day around not having the dogs around. The dogs are great, don't get me wrong, but a day in the city is a whole lot easier without them, especially during a road trip. I would give 0 stars if allowed. I entrusted "In the Dog House" to take care of my 14 month old Boxer while I went on vacation. I returned to a severely ill dog that required emergency veterinary services due to septic shock. My baby contracted a terrible case of mycoplasma pneumonia, that developed into bilateral pneumonia. She spent 9 hours at the Emergency vet, multiple return visits to our local vet and a total of 6 weeks of antibiotics. I requested that the owners reimburse half of the vet bill, they replied that the bill was overpriced and offered to pay 250, the emergency vet bill cost 2000, (Sunday morning, July 4th), not many options available. I have spent more than 3000.00 over this event!! If you love yourself dog and value their safety, avoid this place. read more

My dog was updated on all shots and in very good spirits going in. I called several times to get Update on her since it was her first time. The day I picked her up, they had no reports. I walked outside and she sneezed maybe 10 times. Went home, sneezing continued and vomiting began and continued through the night. We're in vets office now treating what is most likely a kennel cough but it was disclosed to me that they have gotten several animals back after boarding at this place. When I picked up my dog she smelled ( like infection bad) so bad I had to bathe her immediately and after speaking to vet she confirmed the cleanliness of this place was a concern. My biggest issue was that my Dog was so dehydrated she had to have a fluid sac Put under her skin to revive her levels. I'm mostly upset that the location did not inform me of her condition on the multiple occasions that we spoke including picking her up. It was evident they were hiding her conditions. Once we called the Staff to inform them of our dogs condition, they deemed her UNFIT for the daycare.. We will not be returning. read more

ITDH cared for Max and Charley so well while we were out of town the past 9-10 days. Max's hot spot has cleared up so obviously they have been caring for it properly and I can't express enough thanks at how healthy is coat looks. Their bath they were given was PHENOMENAL!!! There isn't a speck of dirt on their coats. BETTER THAN THEIR GROOMER!! I can't thank them enough for the help with them. The photos they post are great too! I searched daily for pics of them on their fb page. I really really appreciate the love they give them while we are out of town. They are so happy and act very well cared for when we pick them up. I just can't express enough thanks!!! Also, when I brought them in last Friday the girl who helped us did AMAZING as well!!! We came at peak hours around 4pm, there were multiple people picking up/dropping off, it was pouring outside, ALOT going on at that moment.... she was beyond helpful to all of us customers. She offered to take max/Charley off my hands so I could go back out to my car and get their food/supplies easier, she asked about all their meds, any special requests, the bath, the pickup time, she wrote ample notes.... I am just so impressed at how she managed that level of stress so professionally, all while keeping such a sweet personable demeanor. she was beyond amazing!!! I just want to say words barely touch on the amount of thanks and appreciation I have for how well my dogs seem to have been cared for. They do such a great job. Thank you very very very much!!! In The Dog House staff was very helpful and polite addressing my questions and concerns before boarding and got him in quickly for his day care trial to be approved to board - the quick turnaround time and flexibility was much appreciated. I think they're affordable and get the job done. To get a status update on your pet you have to call them directly to ask for one - their phones are usually busy. To see photos of your pet, you have to wait for them to post them on their Facebook... but there's no guarantee they'll post a photo of your dog on their Facebook during their stay (speaking from experience I didn't get to see any photos of my dog during his 5 day stay and had to call for two updates). Lastly, my dog came home with conjunctivitis in one eye. read more

My husband and I have been bringing our two mutts to In The Dog House for just under a year now. I must say our two dogs are very high energy and this place does a wonderful job of releasing that energy about 3 times a week for us. What I believe the most important aspect of The Dog house would be the fact they are genuinely true dog people! Some places we've been to in the past are great in their own way but you really see the true love for the dogs when visiting In The Dog House. It's all about the pets. The dogs get constant attention from the loving staff as well as time to run around and play with other dogs. It's like sending your dog to a supervised dog park to play all day while we two leggers handle our people business. My partner and I were in Europe a few months ago and were outstandingly surprised when over dinner with friends and family we brought up where our furbabies stayed while we were there, showing pictures, and describimg how wonderful the place was and as it turns out. The owner Ms. Deirdre is apparently is a well-known dog trainer even in Europe. We had no idea but mentioned it to her when we returned and it's true. I haven't used their doggy day care services, but I did interact with them two days in a row while working to adopt a dog through a local rescue. Lola (my pup!) was staying at this doggy daycare. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and so nice to all the animals. The space seemed great and large, with a run out back for the dogs. It is in a weird location, but it works. Certainly will be using them in the future for my little lady to go play with some friends. read more

Do NOT recommend! After going here for 6 years since he was a puppy with no issues, no warnings, and nothing but great things to say about my dog. He suddenly without any warning gets kicked out for humping. I can easily count on one hand the number of times my dog has done that and when I asked them if it has ever happened before, they stumbled and weren't able to answer and just told me it was a problem this time around. They are "worried it will start a fight". If they do not understand the underlying cause of certain basic dog behavior and how to remedy it, they have no business running a doggy daycare and a fight will 100% happen! I definitely miss the old management and employees. They actually cared about the dogs. read more

I've boarded two of my dogs now at in The Dog House. My big lab, Cooper had the best time. He was well taken care of and when we returned for a second time he was eager to go on in. Most recently we took in our four month old puppy. She definitely needed the socialization and the dog house helped. I was kept up to date during her stay and even saw pictures of her on their Facebook wall. She came home nice and clean. I am pleased with her stay and will bring her back next time. Both times I've left my dog there for boarding she ended up with a hefty vet bill each time . Kennel cough and a rash on her stomach and arms and legs the first time . Second boarding she came out with an eye infection and puncture wound to the face. Took her directly to the vet after pick up. $150 later she was on antibiotics for a month (pictures attached) I asked them to communicate with me while dropping her off the second time considering the first time she left with issues. I told them if anything was to come up while boarding her to let me know . I called after I saw a Facebook picture post with an obvious mark on her face to be told it was nothing serious . I've taken my dog there several times before ownership changed and had no issues. At pick up they said it was a hot spot on her face and nothing was wrong with her eye, day of pick up vet records show otherwise . I understand dogs wrestle and play and things happen but I gave them specific directions to call me if anything came up to avoid any vet visits. This is more about lack of notification and communication than anything else. Their comment was maybe that wasn't the place for my dog. My dog had amazing care there before they took over and they take zero responsibility. As they state on Facebook they prefer working with animals more than humans . Well it shows in the lack of respect and communication towards owners . They said they meant to call but they were too busy. Was also told afterwards that they have now changed their policy about communicating . Hopefully that's the case. In response to the owner : *Never once did I ask for vet bill to be paid . *It was over Thanksgiving so that's 6 months not a year, please use facts. *You're not a vet, your simple hotspot theory was incorrect. *I haven't said anything in 6 months since we talked at pick up until now . *I requested you to call me on vacation if anything came up . You didn't do that because you "felt" it was not needed. *When a person leaves instructions they should be followed. *This forum is for people to share and rate their experience with a business good or bad. *Your business is based on customer service so if it was provided properly there wouldn't be this conversation . You are in control of the livelihood of your business not me. LASTLY...you posted my full name on here which is a yelp privacy guideline violation which shows you just do whatever it is you feel like without thinking or caring about repercussions. My two labs have been regular visitors to In The Dog House for the last 8 years. We have always had nothing but positive things to say about this kennel under previous management. However this past week when there were boarded for a total of 3 1/2 days things were way different. Upon drop off the person manning the front desk had trouble recognizing who his customers were and spelling their names. Upon pick up at 10:35am my daughter was informed that the dogs had not yet been fed breakfast (unacceptable). My dogs were also sent to the kennel with daily meds to be included with their morning breakfast. The baggie which contained these meds was full when the dogs were picked up, therefore no meds were dispensed. Strike 2! We requested the dogs to be bathed - yes, and nails trimmed - yes but with odd extremely sharp angles. Sorry ITDH but for as convenient a location as you were for us, you've lost yourself a customer! If you're reading this post I suggest you seek alternative kennel care. This kennel has gone downhill since undergoing a management change! read more

My dog loves to go to daycare here. I like that they have artificial dog grass and my lab loves to swim in the pool in the summer.

I was very nervous since I had just gotten my new puppy to try daycare, but after doing some research I decided to give In The Dog House a try and I am so glad I did. Emmie loves it there and cant wait to go she knows in the morning. when we walk to the car where she is going, and once I pull up she starts getting so excited. What a wonderful place for her to get her energy out and learn to socialize with other dogs. They are always posing pictures and videos of her, and she loves to swim in the pool. We are always greeted at the check-in counter with smiles and you can tell that they really love the dogs. The staff is so nice and friendly. I recommend this place to anyone who truly wants their dog to play and be taken care of. read more

I walked in to potentially have my dog stay for the weekend to find very unfriendly staff, and the "play pin" for the dogs was just a concrete slab that looks so uncomfortable. The lady I talked told my they have several pools that were 3 1/2 foot deep for large dogs and when we went to tour I saw a black bucket. Safe to say I was highly unimpressed and I would recommend to tour the facility before leaving your pup. The website does deceive the quality of this kennel. read more

After moving here last November I had been vigorously searching for a pet sitter that could take care of my very active two-year-old Goldendoodle. I was referred to in the doghouse by a colleague who assured me "this is the place for Mason". I must say Mason comes home very tired on a daily basis. I took a tour the facility just to see exactly what they did all day and the staff are in constant contact with the dogs throwing balls, playing with the water, giving attention to my baby.... We visited once and our dog just had a 2 night stay and we're totally impressed. It's a great facility - the individual kennels, the indoor play area and the outside area. The dogs have a nice big space to spend their time. It's very, very clean and well maintained. The staff is genuinely caring about all their guests. They have a great website and facebook page where they post photos and you can communicate with them about your pet. They are open 7 days a week for pick ups and drop offs and have long hours which make it very convenient. This is the best boarding place for pets that we've seen. read more

This is a great day care and boarding place for your dogs. We have a German Shepherd and a Welsh Corgi and they both love going to ITDH. Our GSD gets so excited when we turn into the street near ITDH, he just about tries to jump out the back window so he can get there faster. We often take them just for the day care and they come home happy and worn out - just how we like them. We also use ITDH for longer term boarding. We know our dogs are safe and happy, and we never have to worry about them when we are away. The owner and the staff are wonderful - they genuinely care about the dogs and it shows in the excitement our dogs show every time we arrive. They don't have a web cam, but post Facebook photos pretty much every day, so we get to see our dogs regularly. I would thoroughly recommend In the Dog House for both day care and overnight boarding. read more

Things to consider: 1) Customers not allowed to see the back area where the dogs are, even on request. 2) No cameras. only their chosen posts on FB. 3) Dogs come home disgustingly dirty and emotionally different. 4) They crate dogs for 12-13 hours at night - 7pm-7am at best - without any interaction, water, or potty breaks (or human supervision) 5) They close for "breaks" during the day between 11-2 on most days but 11-4 on Sundays - FIVE HOURS during the middle of the day, during the times most people would be coming home from their weekend away, during which time your dog is held there, inaccessible, locked in the crate, unsupervised, even if you call prior to the "break" to say you'll just be a few minutes late, after driving 5 hours to pick up your pup and getting stuck in unexpected traffic....because "would you give up YOUR break if YOU weren't getting paid to give it up!?" (Words from the manager) 6) Any questions pertaining to any of the above are responded to with a snarky and arguably nasty remark by the "manager." 7) When you bring up any of the above to colleagues at your workplace, they each have had one or more similar experiences at this place. 8 ) When you make it clear that you dont really want to pay for "playcare" for 5 hours you didnt want your dog there, during which time he/she is locked in said crate and definitely not "playing", your told by said manager that "you obviously wont be back so your $12 doesnt matter anyway" 9) Evidently this place is under relatively new ownership, so many of the reviews below may or may not be reliable (note they are almost all from 2012-2016) Other places are better, I think. I hope. Or this industry is doomed. Because this can't be ok. read more

I boarded my dog and was told he would be kept with his brother (my parents dog) for the three nights. I found out they were kept in separate kennels at night. I picked my dog up Monday a little after 9 am and realized this evening they never fed him breakfast. When my mother picked her dog up they told her he had not eaten and she was not happy because that was at 10 am. I had no idea they had fed my dog because no one even said anything , it was only when my mother told me what happened to her that I found a bag of food stuffed at bottom of bag I had packed my dog (no extras were packed). I can only assume they were not let out as often as they should be either since no one had time to get there and FEED them by 9-10 am. I trusted this establishment with my loved family member but will never use them again. read more

This facility is very caring and works very hard to provide for any special needs your dog has. My Yoda is no longer with us but as her health failed they were very accommodating for her changing needs. They truly did care for her as if she was their own and she wasn't a particularly easy dog to love. I cannot say enough about how they cared for her until end. read more

I have been taking my baby, Ariel, to In the Doghouse since October 2017 and she loves it! I had some concerns about moving her to this facility because she loved her previous daycare so much, but Deidra and Josh did everything needed to make the transition smooth. Ariel absolutely loves both of them! I sent Ariel through a two week board and train program, and when she returned to the daycare everyone at the facility helps me continue the training she learned. I'm new to the area and was very pleased to find in the doghouse for my dog Sophie. Usually when I board her she is eager to get in the car and go home. But when I picked her up from In The Dog House she seemed ambivalent, like she could've stayed a lot longer. I think she had so much fun playing with all the other dogs and this was a great alternative to being in a crate. Everybody there was so nice and professional. I could not be happier with my dog's stay at In the Dog House. He's a 1.5 year old lab retriever and shepherd mix, 85lbs, but very shy and submissive. I wondered about him being ok with having so many other dogs around him and possibly being scared, but he came back with vastly improved social skills, and stopped letting other dogs intimidate him. He stayed 6 nights, and came home without any bad habits, freshly bathed, and had his nails clipped (something not even my vet can manage). The best comparison I can make is to a daycare for kids. My dog IS my kid, and I would never leave him with people I was uncomfortable with, or in a place that wasn't clean. The staff is GREAT and very friendly, and they will give your dog whatever special attention he or she needs. There's about a 4 page questionnaire to fill out about anything you could think of telling them about your dog and their needs and likes and dislikes and temperament. The price is great, but the piece of mind I have leaving my dog at In The Dog House is priceless :) read more

We drive from downtown to DI to bring our dogs here. This is the only place I will consider taking my fur babies. When we ask them if they want to go to doggie daycare, they literally sprint around the house with excitement. Our dogs are our children, they are also lab puppies, so they need a lot of attention and a space to expend some energy. They get all of that and so much more!
