Would never suggest this school for kids. Especially with any learning difficulties. They also do not care to deal wirh extreme bullying.

My daughter went here for preschool for one year and I just pulled her out a week before school starts. I'll start at the beginning. I had heard nothing but good things about HFCS from my close friend so I went to tour preschool. The coordinator at the time was very welcoming. When I told her the only reason I couldn't pull her from her current school with her little brother to enroll her was because of the drop off time, she kindly reassured me and accommodated with a 30 minute earlier drop off time. I have two toddlers and I admit I wasn't as consistent as I would've liked throughout the year but I would make it there within 15 minutes and/or text I would be late. My daughter didn't talk much of the school when I would pick her up, but really liked her classmates. I fully embraced the Catholic community here as I went to a private school k-8 as well. I participated in every fundraiser, sold scripps, cookies and gift wrap. I attended all the field trips and events. I wanted to be so involved even if it meant taking the time off teaching my own students. I felt my daughter learned so much here and they even included a 13 min video at the end of the year and portfolio. Fast forward to end of year and reenrollment. After I paid the enrollment fee, the director tells me they can no longer accommodate an earlier drop off time. I'm thinking oh wow, I never would've separated her and her brother then, same drop off right across from my work. But of course I'm going to try my best not to have to change much for my daughter. So we accommodated and my husband would change his schedule to drop her off later. Come summer, my first time at VBS which was marketed by the school and apparently organized by the parish. On the second to last day, there was an emergency evacuation for an alarm that went off and I come to find out my daughter wandered off and no one knew she was gone. I email the VBS director (who profusely apologized and called me) and the principal. The principal basically said thanks for letting her know, but she is responsible for the school not VBS. This was not a great feeling. I really felt disconnected. Come to the day we dropped off supplies and meet our daughters teacher and class list is up. Her former teacher, now new preschool director, is no longer her teacher. She was moved to another classroom. Her favorite parts of school, her classmates were kept in her former teachers class, and she was the only student moved out. When we email to ask why, the response was the old director made the list and "much thought" was put into it. I felt there had been no transparency, no clear reasoning and some singling out. My husband and I spoke over the weekend and decided to pull her out. When we told her former teacher, there was no empathy or care or compassion. Her response was ok thanks for letting me know, and then left her extra clothing and supplies in a box in the lobby. They also never confirmed the monthly payment was taken and needed to be returned. No one would respond to my emails about the money. It took my husband calling the office and even driving down there to get an answer. For a god-loving people, this was not the warm school I thought it was. Actually, there was one person, the preschool aide Mrs. G that saw me picking up my daughters things on the lobby table and she genuinely said sorry it didn't work out and that she hoped we found the right place for our daughter. Even gave me the biggest hug. That was what I expected from a place I spend so much time and money at. It has really changed my views on the Catholic school system and I don't know if I would ever put my children in another school like that again. No accountability whatsoever. What a disappointment, making so many changes in our personal and work lives for a school who didn't even care about our 4 year old or our worries. But I am glad I experienced this now when she's young and she's so happy with her old friends. So great year for us either way. read more

Fantastic school to be a part of. Both my kids are going here for the past 10 years. One soon to gratuities from here after so many years. All the staff are extremely nice and card about your kid. Extra careful with COVID-19 and one if the few school where was allowed to stay open during this time. I definitely recommend HFCS to all of you. read more

The school never called me back about their decision on whether they will accept my child. I was expecting a call back, but the person didn't bother letting me know her decision. It would have been nice to hear from her (since she said she will call back two weeks after our meeting). It has been 4 months and it's pretty clear now that she doesn't care. read more

Okay, so I toured a lot of preschools. I become quite obsessive if it is anything to do with my kids, haha. Especially since I am pretty much a stay at home mom, and love spending time with my kids. I would only send my kids to a program I felt would offer something more nurturing for my son to be in than with his loving family. The preschool here is clearly the best maybe in all of CA, especially with Mrs. D. as the director. I was amazed at how much she cares and how much effort she puts into her program- activities, teaching the child manners, habits and, most important for me, the overall development of each personhood. She teaches her own class, unlike all the other directors I've toured with. Some other places I've toured was with ChildTime in Orange (closest to my house, but it's clearly the worst quality. They have the best outdoor play space though), Trinity Lutheran (2nd to the worst- also very close to my house), St. Cecilia's (very good), Ni Hao (pretty good), Renascence (not that great but learning to become trilangual is pretty awesome). Within just a couple hours of touring with her at Holy Family, I knew it was really different than all the other preschools with just the level of care she put in to get to know my child, and explaining how her class is run, explaining why she does things, knowledge about child development, etc. She was so patient with him too. I remember my son knocked down a pot of plants for fun and I was trying to force him to say sorry, and I found out she doesn't force kids to say sorry because she wants them to say sorry only when they really mean it- which was very insightful to me. Did I mention she has the play dough made fresh for her class every month? She also keeps her classroom very clean and does great art projects, and had high quality cookie cutters in shape of snowflakes during her 'winter' theme lessons when I visited. Also, this program has the BEST RATIO- it's 2 teachers to 8 kids. This is the only way I believe you can even attempt to do more enriching activities with such little ones. Childtime and Trinity Lutheran was 15 three year olds to ONE teacher which is just insane... The poor teachers there looked very exhausted and put out. Other teachers at Childtime I noticed didn't seem like they cared what was going on, and the kids looked mindlessly bored or just sad to be there. But like I said, I'm a stay at home mom so my needs are different. I'm not looking for a place that will keep my kid all day long because I need to work. I'm simply looking for a place I can take my kid for a few hours for an educational, enriching and nurturing experience regardless of cost. Although, ironically Holy Family was the cheapest of all the preschools I have visited. I wanted to write a review about this preschool like few months prior when I was doing a lot of preschool shopping, but I was on the waitlist and I didn't want to create more unnecessary competition for myself haha. Anyway I got a spot for my son next year so I can finally post this review. read more

My son just wrapped up his first year of Kindergarten at this school, and so far so good! My son is smart but also very active, so he struggled going into a formal classroom environment. We moved him from a different private school into Holy Family, and Holy Family was a much better fit for him. They were more willing to be patient and work with him until he got into a good routine. They also offer nap time for the first few months of the year, which I think really helps with this age group. They taught him how our actions affect others and that we need to respect our peers, teachers and parents. I am very happy with the growth I have witnessed from my son at this school, and will be sending my daughter here in the fall. read more

This is a wonderful, nurturing, environment for children to grow and learn in. They have high academic & personal conduct expectations. The school year is filled with a diverse array of fun activities for all the grade levels, both religious and secular. Teachers here are credentialed, many with advanced degrees and they are highly invested in their students. There is high parental involvement with many opportunities to volunteer. Holy Family Cathedral School is a wonderful school with a loving christian environment and great focus on the kids and their education needs. My son has gained so much confidence and knowledge in the 2 years he has attended. I have met some wonderful families that I know will be friends for a long time. Great teachers, ability to be involved in the classroom and small class size (25 and under) make it a great learning environment and gives me confidence that my kids are being given all the fundamentals for a great future. read more
