They both went on to Crean Lutheran High School and master's degrees at Concordia, and Cal Poly/SDSU. This school is small enough that the parents have a say in things that are heard by the staff and acted upon. If you want to be involved in a family run education, I would highly recommend Oakridge!

Academics are prioritized but not to an extent which is stressful or anxiety-provoking for students. Oakridge continually scores in the top 10% nationally on standardized testing, but this isn't surprising given Oakridge's extraordinary and passionate teachers. Perhaps what I love MOST about Oakridge (and what sets them apart from other schools) is the religious flexibility, inclusivity and emphasis on character development. Character development is part of the curriculum for all students, with the option for families to incorporate Judeo-Christian Bible study if so desired. Our family is a mix of backgrounds and religions which makes this flexibility so incredibly special and one of a kind. Oakridge genuinely celebrates all cultures and faiths and provides a welcoming, safe and judgement-free space for its students. My daughter is challenged to excel, supported as an individual, and encouraged to be thoughtful, confident, and kind. We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a special school community.

My child attended Kinder through 4th grade, 2018-2023. Ms. Rubio was the only principle at the time and is now on leave, no surprise there. She is garbage. My child was bring bullied and singled out by the kids, I reported this to the new principle who is still there, a male now. My child's teacher, 3rd grade teacher at the time, and counselor who is still there, who is also garbage. All in turn for all of them to tell me its my childs fault for being bullied and singled out. They had the nerve to ask me why he doesn't play with the other kids.. Hello!! He's being singled out! Also his 3rd grade teacher didn't like when my child told her Her tone was too high. They talk about speaking up but when the kids defend them selves "they are out of line" not of the staff told me my child was outta control, he yelled or did anything to disrespect them just that he spoke up once and that he doesn't play with the out the kids. All they did was roll their eyes. The counselor lady is the worst, telling me to get my child therapy instead of addressing the the kids that picked on him. They avoided that. The male principle didn't say anything at all. His 3rd grade teacher mad because my son spoke up for himself. Total garbage school. I transferred my child after the 4th grade only to see if 4th grade was better. it only got worse.. accusing my child. I had to take him to therapy all they do is hide all the bs.

Introducing him to French at an early age from the mommy and moi program as a toddler to starting full time classes at Pre-K, he is code switching from English to French and singing songs he learns in class. We do not speak French in our household and this School gives my son French cultural and language experience. The faculty and staff have been very supportive and welcoming us to the school. I appreciate the faculty to student ratio. The teachers are very caring and nurturing. My son goes to school every morning with a smile. Many day cares just seemed like drop off places with not much structured activities while preschools really emphasized their curriculum. We chose to take the preschool route. We also wanted our son to learn a new language and French was a great choice based on his heritage and we love the French culture. We visited the school back in February and Tiphaine and the rest of the staff was fantastic. We had a lot of questions and they really spent the time to walk us through everything. We got a really nice preview of the schools's warm culture. Our son has now been in preschool for the past month and it's been amazing to see him grow, learn French, make new friends, and we can see he is happy and excited to go everyday. PROS: - small teacher to students ratio - friendly community - engaged PA with bunch of events (some virtuals for busy parents and some F2F in the evenings) - caring staff with a new head (Frederique) - designed curriculum - after school activities (sports, yoga, spanish) - early and late drop off / day care options CONS: - tuition is on the high side (monthly installments as an option). But the cost is well worth it and we are just very impressed so far with everything. So glad we have found this schooo!!
