The falafel The falafel is tiny, about the circumference of a quarter. You would forgive the misleading deal you get on six of them if it tasted decent. But it doesn't. The coriander and parsley overwhelm the flavor. The inside is dry and spongey. The outside is stale. It tastes nothing like falafel at all. 2. The beef and lamb "shawarma" Note the quotation marks. This is not shawarma, which is whole meat sliced off a spit. This is a gyro, a ground and blended meat blend. The gyro tasted fine, but I ordered shawarma and this is not shawarma. 3. The chicken shawarma This, at least, was shawarma. But that is the only positive thing to say. It was dry and flavorless. It tasted like it had been sliced off the pit and sitting in a warmer for a while. It tasted nothing like you would want shawarma to taste. No garlic taste, no paprika, no lemon, no moisture from a yogurt marinade--just unseasoned, dry chicken, spinning on a hot spit. 4. The sauces We tried the garlic sauce, hot sauce, and tahini (all on the side). The hot sauce and tahini were borderline inedible. The hot sauce tasted like someone lightly peppered Hunt's Tomato sauce and the Tahini had the texture of water. The garlic sauce was okay. The people were nice, so it feels bad writing this. But the reviews on this place are an abomination. I am going to check the profile of each person that rated this five stars and avoid any restaurant they recommend. My Palestinian grandmother would have a heart attack if she was served this food. I wish I took more pictures, but the falafel are the only thing I snapped because they were cartoonishly small and I thought that was funny.
