The trash bin near my grandmothers tomb is always full. It's not a busy cemetery, so I'm not sure for how many days this bin piles up for. The hours also aren't the greatest. But it's not my convenience when I can go see the tombs of my loved ones. If I want to make time, I'll make it happen. When snow storms hit, THEY HIT HARD! But the roads here are plowed great! With added salt eliminating ice, and curvy roads make it even more enjoyable, maybe. If you had kids in the back seat. Almost my entire deceased family is buried here. There was nothing I could do at that moment because of distraught family members. If I were there alone, I would have stopped the burial! Instead, I immediately contacted the funeral home. To this day, four months later, Matt and the funeral home have not corrected the problem. I have called a number of times. I would NOT recommend this funeral home because of their insincerity and refusal to take responsibility for their mistake. The idea of my father's coffin having the wrong name on it makes me crazy on a daily basis. My father has gone to meet his Maker in a coffin with a mistake that will stay there virtually forever. That's what we found here. It took me a while to get around to writing this, but I'm glad to be sharing good news about Pelham Funeral Home. They were respectful, warmhearted people who asked what we wanted, thoughtfully offered us options and didn't try to up sell like some funeral homes might. They're sensitivity was truly impressive, from start to finish. The funeral home is also nicely furnished, immaculate and well managed. We were impressed at what a nice multimedia presentation they could prepare with photos and memories. They were really dedicated, patient and helpful, using photos from various family members to craft some beautiful memorial booklets, related printed items and video screen images for the memorial/wake. Clive, a dignified, outgoing and very friendly man originally from Ireland, is the best. He was reassuring right from first contact and we actually enjoyed talking with him during the planning. We enjoyed his warm personality and clear interest in doing things right. That says a lot. Clive's colleague Hanah was also wonderful during all of the planning and at the funeral. She kept track of everything and, like Clive, treated us like friends. They're professional, warm and outgoing. If you're looking for a place that will do things right with class, respect and humanity, this is the place. They put us at ease, treated us like family and helped us all get through some difficult times. I am deeply appreciative of that.

They made it seem like they had shipped caskets to other states, but the shipment was delayed a couple days because they really didn't know what they were doing. Some of the smaller things were flubbed as well: they said they'd send the death certificates in the casket itself and then didn't, we chose one inscription for the casket and they ended up doing a different one. At no point did we get an apology or even a "thank you for your patience on this matter". The receiving facility was part of a larger chain, and the Pelham folks made it seem like we wouldn't be getting a personal touch from them, though the smaller company screwed up anyway. There should be plenty of competitors that deserve your business more than these guys.

The entire process and setting made it easier for those who had to make the arrangements and those who attended the wake less stressful. There's a small private parking lot next to the funeral home. I highly recommend this establishment. I've gone to many wakes in many locations and this was one of the better places I've been. The floral arrangements were spread out and displayed with care.

We needed the monument (headstone and foot stone) installed for the one year anniversary, but it took forever for my sister and I to agree on the language, so we put off the order. I ended up checking with four monument companies in the spring and chose Pulver-Huess, in part because we had seen their work on the grave next to Mom's and thought it was very well done. They were also significantly less expensive than at least one of the other options. Roger was very patient as my sister and I worked out the most minute of details. It's a family-owned business (can't remember if Roger said he is the third generation and his son is the fourth or whether he is the fourth and his son is the fifth). Either way, you get the point. The office is in a house just across the street from Mount Hope and it is definitely not a fancy place. (In fact, if my sister had seen the place, I guarantee that she would have wanted us to buy the monument from someplace fancier.) And I don't think they even have a website. But the bottom line is that Pulver-Heuss made a difficult situation as pleasant as possible, and the headstone and footstone look gorgeous.
