I sadly visited this Establishment for the wake of a friend's late father. There is a private parking lot next to the premises; also street parking. The inside of the funeral home is tastefully somber and well appointed as befits its purpose during a time of loss and mourning. read more

In unfortunate circumstances as we are currently living in, having to make funeral arrangements for a loved one can be overwhelming. It was beyond overwhelming for my family and I but the entire staff made it simple. They were pleasant, well organized, well versed in CDC Covid guides and protocol , clean and provide great customer service. This review is 8 months late, but I wanted to give Schuyler Hill Funeral Home an Excellent review, because they truly deserve it. My mother-in law passed away in February 2020, and the funeral coordinator along with the staff treated us with so much tenderness, respect and patience during our difficult time. Everything was perfectly and tastefully done from beginning to the very end. The death certificate(s), Thank you cards and guest book, along with a personal condolences letter from the funeral home was in a white bag, that was handed to my husband on the morning of the funeral, which was in a cemetery NJ. In person they seemed very genuine, but afterwards it was all about the money. After my father died, I was told I would receive a death certificate - as his sole living relative. However, later I was informed that because I was't the person paying the bills (his executor did) they wouldn't send me any documents. Nice touch. Guess they just couldn't be bothered. read more

The saddest thing a daughter has to do is plan her dad's funeral. I was looking for a funeral home in my neighborhood, when I called for one I got a women with and attitude and she was just uncaring I definitely didn't need that at this difficult time. I search through Yelp and I found Schuyler Hill funeral home. The minute you were on the phone with them they gave their condolences and made you feel at ease. I went the next day to make arrangements. I met with funeral director Jeannine she was so kind and sympathetic and worked with us to make everything less stressful and it all fell in to place beautifully. It really is a beautiful place they even have a wide screen photo of the person being laid to rest in their lobby, and a really cool fish tank too. The day of my dad's viewing the owner Mr. McQuade came over and gave us his condolences and said if we needed anything just let him know. What funeral home does that? That's why their in business for over 60 years. I will recommend this establishment to family and friends, and my dad would have approve one hundred percent. read more

This was the 1st funeral I ever had to organize, as my father passed away this month. Jackie, Tom, Josh and the rest of the team were efficient, and so helpful. They created a caring and relaxed atmosphere for both the wake and the burial. They made the process as easy as possible and walked me through every step. Everything was beautifully done. My mother was referred to this funeral home after she lost her mother (my grandmother) because a family member's friend owns this funeral home. When we showed up to talk about arrangements the woman my mother's friend was referring to was not there so I will not speak poorly about anyone other than the woman we spoke to but it was the worst experience and I hope nobody has to go through what we went through. The woman we met with was so self centered and a horrible woman. I understand that during the Covid-19 scare you may have policies in place but as a customer we were inquiring about what are options are to be able to work with the funeral home and still have a decent funeral for my grandmother who meant the world to many people. This woman could not show any ounce of sympathy. She started off with an attitude almost looked annoyed and bored the entire time. She talked about a funeral they just held at a cemetery and that SHE felt "uncomfortable that about 50 people were there". My first reaction was how can you talk about how horrible you felt about your surroundings to a family that has to go through exactly what that family went through and I can guarantee you the family that was grieving felt worse. The woman then told us that the funeral home has a rule that only 25 people are allowed in and that's it. Well we asked if we could make it so that 10 immediate family members stay and others come in and pay their respects and leave the building and rotate so that we do not break their rules. A simple "no I'm sorry that's not possible does the trick" but to be told "Nope. We lock the door behind you and that's it. Honestly, it concerns me that you are telling me that there are so many people that need to show up because I do not want a line outside on the sidewalk. We haven't gotten the Coronavirus yet and we don't plan to now." THAT'S WHAT YOU SAY TO A FAMILY?! I would usually read reviews to see if the party writing the complaint said anything out of line but my mother was so nice to this lady (which she shouldn't have) and asked questions in the nicest way possible. Even after all this idiot did my mother very nicely said to her "I'm going to check other funeral homes just to see if anything is different but I may come back. I just need to see if they have the same policies because my mother knew a lot of people and I would like for them all to be able to say goodbye to her". The woman just said okay and locked the door behind us and not once said I am sorry for you loss. These are the people that we do not need to be occupying space in this world. This woman was so detached from human emotion she should not be doing this job and I warn everyone not to go here. I am in a customer service profession and have had to receive news of someone dying while I am at work and cannot leave. I have never treated anyone with that kind of disrespect while at work even after finding out a loved on had passed away. I very rarely say this but this woman should absolutely be fired because we will always have the memory during such an awful time. She is terrible at her job and should do any other job other than be around people who need to speak to someone who has a heart and a bit of compassion. Seriously as good as it gets! This is my first time leaving a review on Yelp however I felt compelled to leave one as it may help someone in the same position I was in. To sum it up in the fewest words possible,  while grieving the loss of my mother I had to search for funeral homes that didn't creep me out, and provided the proper send off while keeping a tight budget in mind. This place was perfect! Not only did this place provide that clean, classy and peaceful ambiance, they also have a door man well suited with white gloves to greet all guest as they came and went. In addition off street private parking directly across the street. The staff there was extremely kind, compassionate and accommodating. This was my very first time ever having to do this and they were so helpful. I can't say enough about them especially Russell. He is a gem! He read a poem that soothed my heart at the cemetery and am so happy I chose to send my mother off with your help! I am eternally thankful!! read more
