This place has been open for a few month now in Watertown. I was not impressed by any of the meats really beside the beef brisket. The pulled chicken and pulled pork were both dry. The ribs were also a little on the dry side. The best side I had was the French fries. They were really good. The cornbread was also good especially if you enjoy sweeter cornbread. I liked the baked beans but they were nothing special. The potato salad and macaroni salad were not that great, average at best. Sadly the macaroni and cheese was extremely salty!!! For the hours they keep I won't recommend it but I can see why they can keep them this is one of the best barbecue spots I've been to. Their brisket is amazing they're mac & cheese delicious and the owner is very nice everything is very clean and they do have a catering menu. The view of the square is beautiful and the Food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I got the Mac Daddy with fries and beans and my BBQ was the Honey BBQ. My man got the Pulled Pork Cubano with broccoli and mac and cheese. Everything had a wonderful smoke to it and did not feel heavy or bloating! This is one of my favorite local places. They do a BBQ poutine which I think about daily, it's so good - most of the time, and this is one of two reasons I am taking a star off. They can be...inconsistent. Sometimes that poutine would tempt me to sell a kidney to be able to eat it every day and sometimes it's just ok. I always order it the same way and I can't figure out why it varies so drastically. The other thing is that they run out of food. Smoked BBQ takes hours and hours, so it's not like they can just whip out a batch when they realize it's going to be a busy day, but it's disheartening when you have a taste for something just to check their FB and see they are already closed for the night. I am very glad they are doing well, but...we actually ended up buying our own smoker and often just put up a piece of brisket ourselves when the urge starts to hit. read more

I suppose upstate NY doesn't have the highest standards for BBQ. My first time here the food wasn't as tender as I liked. I got the Brisket. Second time I called to place an order for pick up, they told me it would be better if I just came in. When I arrived, the lady told me they were out of food. That was a waste of my time and overall very disappointing. My advice- go to Walmart, you'll get the same standard of customer service and you can get a better tasting rotisserie chicken for much cheaper. I'll give 2 stars in an attempt to support local businesses. Won't be returning. read more

Now there are four (five? they just keep popping up!) barbecue places in the Watertown/Fort Drum area! Met some friends for a Sunday lunch, decided to split their homewrecker platter with the wife and daughter. It was a great way to sample most of their meats on the menu, as well as a healthy portion of their hot and cold sides. There were five or six sauces available, all of them unique and delicious. Of all the sides I tried, I found the smoked cream corn to be the most interesting because I've never seen it before, and wished I had more. I was a little disappointed with the mac and cheese, but it was good when mixed with pulled pork and sauce. We didn't realize it was inside a grocery store, but they had bar stool seating that easily sat all 6 of us. There was some open space that I felt could use a picnic table or two, but it may be against some sort of fire code. My wife wrapped up with grasshopper pie ice cream, and I vowed to return for their homewrecker eating challenge because I'm pretty sure I could down all of their delicious food. Upstate NY just doesn't know good BBQ. I'm from the south, where the BBQ is normally on point. They really tried here, but it is below par unfortunately. I tried the chicken and brisket, and the chicken had no flavor, and the brisket was slightly better in taste. They do have a good variety of sauces from which to choose to add flavor, so that is an added bonus. The sides are not the best, I would say the best side is the baked beans. They must be using water instead of capturing the drippings and it shows. Sauces were good, Carolina mustard and chipotle. But the chipotle was not nearly as spicy as I was told to expect. Went there during soft opening. I ordered something brisket. (Sorry forgot the name). The brisket was not properly cooked. It was chewy and leathery with some smoke flavor. Watertown needs a good bbq place. I think you have a huge potential. But with that kind of food, you need to work on the quality honestly. I understand this is just a soft opening. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but not heaped up and it was on a basic roll. Throw it on an onion roll and it would make s huge difference. The potato salad tasted like Jeans Beans or Price Chopper, and the "BBQ Beans" were not beans to serve with BBQ. These were Grandma Brown's with some brown sugar. I ordered the pulled pork platter with smoked mac and cheese and fries. The pulled pork was excellent. Tender and juicy, just enough smoke to taste but not overwhelm, good seasoning. The two sauces I got (apple and bourbon) were great. The smoked mac and cheese was great but not smoky at all. Maybe add some smoked gouda? The fries were the big letdown. They were undercooked and limp and the fryer oil needs desperately to be changed. They tasted nasty. This is an okay bbq joint. Ribs were dry. Brisket was dry. Pulled pork was a bit better. They keep the meats in what look to be soup warmers and then throw them on the salamander. The Mac and cheese is horrific. Nothing but mushy pasta. The hot sides are kept in a heated case. Cole slaw and Mac salad are cafeteria grade. Very kind and helpful staff.
