I had an extremely disappointing experience with Holy Spirit Heating & Cooling. The service ticket clearly stated that the motor housing unit on my A/C needed to be replaced--not the motor itself. However, when Mr. Alonzo arrived, he quickly "eyeballed" the unit and incorrectly concluded that the motor was not the right one for the system. Both I and the property maintenance supervisor explained that the motor was, in fact, the correct part, and that the actual issue was with the motor casing, not the motor itself. Despite this, Mr. Alonzo insisted he was correct and refused to acknowledge the actual problem, even after the supervisor walked him through the situation for clarity. Worse, Mr. Alonzo submitted an inaccurate report to the warranty company, which delayed repairs and created unnecessary confusion. Buyer beware--this company provided poor service and false information. There are far more knowledgeable and efficient HVAC companies in the DMV area. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for reliable service. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. I was provided them through my home warranty company for an issue with my air conditioning not running properly. The technician that came out to answer the service request was extremely unprofessional. Instead of diagnosing the issue and communicating with me or the home warranty company, he proceeded to work on the unit and then hand me a bill for disconnecting the 'PEK extender', which I did not ask him to do. At the time, I didn't know what this part was so I decided to call my home warranty company to let them know what was going on and see if it was a covered part and that's when things took a turn for the worse. He became hostile and implied that I was just trying to get out of paying the bill, nearly doubled the price that he just quoted me for his labor and threatened to disassemble the whole AC unit. I tried to remain calm and courteous throughout the transaction but it didn't matter. `His attitude and tone were poor and his demeanor was cold and uncaring. I wasn't sure what to do, I ended up just paying him so that he would leave. To make matters worse, the piece that he disconnected is crucial for supplying heat to the unit :(. So now I have to address an issue with the heating that I didn't have prior to this incident. If you want to avoid a nightmare in the future, please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I had a great experience with this company. My air conditioning went out in the hottest July week of 2023. Mr. Alonzo was prompt and professional. He replaced both my air and heating unit. My heating unit is in the attic and it was really uncomfortable for him and his worker. But I got no complaints and they worked until they finished it expertly. I'll continue to use him to do the annual check-ups of the system. I highly recommend his company. BTW - his pricing was great. He beat out 4 other companies. read more

I just wanted to update my review to add again what a fantastic job Alonzo does. I just had him come out today so that I could enter into a yearly warranty contract with Holy Spirit so that they would service my units twice per year. I've previously done the same thing with a different a/c company, however, Alonzo did a MUCH better job. He was more thorough during the servicing/inspection, and went above and beyond in several ways, not the least of which was to work very hard to help me figure out how to register my units with their manufacturer so that I could be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Never once has any other a/c company I've had come out to my house helped me with that - I didn't even know that was something I could do! In fact, I'm furious with the prior a/c company I was using, for they didn't even bother to tell me about that. If they had, and if I'd registered my units back then closer to when I'd first bought my house, I'd have received a 10 year warranty from the manufacturer, but at least I registered them late with Alonzo's help and received 5 years - all thanks to Alonzo. Without him, I wouldn't have coverage at all. Again - just truly appreciate Alonzo. He's so knowledgeable and so helpful. I'm so grateful this company is here. read more

Don't do it. Call Michael & Sons. I had them come out the same day he did and they charged me 500, for what this company wanted $1200. Also, for some reason, he refuses to email the pictures he took and sent took of what "he said" needed to be fixed. read more

My landlord had a warranty for them to fix the HVAC. We put the service order in a month ago and the issue is still not resolved. They initially came by to diagnose the issue and said they would have to order parts to complete the service. Again, this was a month ago. They have been very difficult to get a hold of: have not returned messages nor have scheduled a follow up. When we finally got a hold of them (weeks later) they said they needed to come back out to diagnose the problem (which comes with the standard diagnostic fee). It is now the middle of October and we woke up with our house at 58 degrees. We dropped the warranty company and have had to schedule a different company. If you have a warranty and they offer this contractor, I would HIGHLY recommend asking for a different company. read more

Well, like most things that happen in life, some are unexpected. My air condition unit stopped working, making my house unbearable to live in. I was referred to this company by my home warranty company. They do not return phone calls unless someone from the home warranty company contacts them and their maintenance service is priced 3 times higher than any of the other Heating and Cooling companies in this area. I waited 3 weeks for the part that I was told could not be mailed overnight. After further research from other a/c companies parts that are not available can be sent overnight - there is no 5 day snail mail waiting periods. Today I still have no air conditioning and its 90 degrees in my home. Unprofessional, unreliable. They have the audacity to quote scripture on their invoice. Don't use Holy Spirit Heating and Cooling or you will end up like me "Hot in Fort Washington"!!!!!!!! My rating for them is 0- no stars read more

Definitely STAY AWAY! I would give this company zero stars if I could. Holy Spirit was assigned to my HVAC work order through my home warranty company. I should've known this company was suspect as soon as I saw the name. After waiting the obligatory 48 hours for them to call me to schedule an appointment, I reached out to them. An extremely unprofessional man answered the phone - I tell him the situation. He asks a few questions, gets frustrated and states "Well, anyway...I don't have any appointments until next Wednesday or Thursday" (6 days away!!) in a mocking tone. I tell him I'll call him back as my warranty company claimed Holy Spirit could offer me expedited service. Lies! I call my warranty company and they check to see if any other contractors have availability sooner - supposedly, they didn't. They'd called Holy Spirit and assured me that Holy Spirit had me down for a Wednesday appointment but, that I'd have to call to get the time slot. I called Holy Spirit right back and was told "You lost your spot - Now we don't have anything until Thursday or Friday". Again, in a mocking tone... This guy was basically laughing at the fact that I'd had the audacity to think my warranty company could help the situation. I called in yesterday to confirm my appointment as I had no faith that I was on any kind of schedule. Shockingly, someone answered (this company is only open 5 hours a day). Just as I thought, there seemed to be no record of my appointment but, I was told they could accommodate me of they could push the timeframe back an hour. Fine. I take it and ask if they'd call me 30 minutes prior to arrival (like every other company!!) and I'm told that they don't do that because they schedule so closely. Yeah...sure... So, I leave work early to go and wait for them to show up. Of course they were a no call, no show. I could've bet money that this would be the case. Ugh. I get the feeling that it was probably a blessing. This company is the epitome of unprofessional. read more

This company should be ashamed to defame God's name by naming there company what it is. First, the customer service representative if you can call Lisa that. She doesn't conduct answering her calls with no spirit in her. They try to make you pay money for what you already know is covered in your warranty. I think bank on you not being an informed consumer. The repair guy has the nerve to sit his behind on my porch demanding payment before he would begin work, all to find out he was at the wrong house. And my part finally came in, the same jerk came out and had the nerve to tell me he wasn't going up in the attic because it was too hot, and maybe, now he said maybe he can come by tomorrow. By that time I thought I was going to lay my Jesus down and light into his behind. But I didn't. I love supporting my black owned businesses, BUT this one I highly discourage doing business with them starting from the office to the field. read more

I highly recommend this service. The Tech came out and did the work on my condenser, and he spent 2 hours over the agreed time to make sure my furnace was nice and clean, he even took the entire thing apart to clean it with the water hose outside in the cold. I've been treated the same way. I was referred to them by my warranty company as well. He quoted me one price and then told me another. I gave him a check, I then a day later found someone cheaper. He has yet to refund my money. Needless to say I have filed a claim in court to get my money back. Awful service. They need to seriously consider changing their name to something else. read more

Awful. It appears that one man, "Alonzo Smith" runs the "business". He quoted me a fee of $125 for a "cleaning" that would need to be paid on top of the fee my warranty company charges. I told him I've never had to pay such a fee. He recommended routine maintenance to resolve the issues, and I again, told him that the issue was beyond routine maintenance. He needed to fix the leak, but refused to even look for it saying it could fix itself or get bigger. I asked him to look at the vents and air flow, he refused. He didn't want to answer my questions, and needed up walking out with no good-bye or resolution to me service claim. Totally, unprofessional. Now, my daughter is telling me he also put his hands on my 5 year old son who is on the Autism Spectrum. You don't put your hands on people's kids! Now it's about 30 mins after his visit in my home, and my AC does not work AT ALL. There is a large leak or water in my upstairs hallway. Before he cam my AC worked, I just have certain rooms with weak airflow. This is nothing "Holy" about this man or his work. read more

The evaporating pan on our HVAC rusted out as it was the original unit for our house. The evaporating pan was not separate from the HVAC but engineered as part of it. Our then home warranty company ordered one to be manufactured but that was clearly stupid. They then decided to pay us $150 and call it a day. Holy Spirit offered us a new Goodman HVAC unit with the updated freon and a more powerful AC unit. It was quickly and professionally installed and we were very comfortable during the extremely hot summer of 2016. However, when the temperature plummeted, we discovered the furnace was unable to warm the house. As the unit was still only 8 months old, I called Holy Spirit. Alonzo was out within two hours and made adjustments. It seemed to work,however, at night, the furnace was just unable to keep up with the 15 degree December Maryland night. Alonzo returned and within 45 minutes the problem was determined and resolved. We are now very toasty. As the unit was under warranty, Alonzo would accept no recompense. He would not even accept a Christmas donation saying the unit was under warranty and was his responsibility. Thank you Holy Spirit. Your ethics were very refreshing during these times of so much moral crisis. read more
