I suppose the roof was done properly, but only time will tell on that part, the problem I have with…read morethem is the guys working on the roof cut & destroyed one of the gutter supports on one of the long spans of the steel gutters that have been on my mobile with no problems for the past 23 yrs., I spoke with Walter (the owner) & advised him about what his guys had done, he called back 2 days later & said his guys said they didn't do it. Gutter repair man came out and connected the gutters using some sort of glue, the repair man said the original steel gutter support that was ruined & just tossed on the ground was " cut & there was absolutely no reason for it" I do believe this was done out of spite as the roofers were packing up to leave, due to the fact that I did not offer them a tip. Well, this old woman could not afford a tip after paying what I did for a new roof!! Repair of the gutter cost me $95.00 & this company refuses to reimburse me. I have the gutter support piece safely put away for the day I'll need to take them to small claims court.

We were fortunate to find John Schull, General Contractor, through word-of-mouth from two other top…read morenotch folks in the construction business. He is the General Contractor who did the great remodel on Four Daughters Irish Pub in downtown Medford to rave reviews. We made an appointment with him and shared our vision of converting our screened porch to a Santa Fe-style all-weather garden room. He was great to work with, a visionary with all the skills and focus that it takes to execute well. He really understood what we wanted from that first discussion. After that it just got better. We thought we wanted sautillo tiles, which are from Mexico and commonly used in Santa Fe. He explained the challenges of maintaining them to us, which my husband confirmed (he used to cowboy and ranch in Santa Fe). That disappointed me until John brought us a sample of the most gorgeous tiles I had ever seen in my life. They were from Spain and far more beautiful than what we originally had in mind. Both Michael and I instantly made a decision to go with them. The interior of our house is painted in a custom color that we call adobe orange. We explained to John that we wanted that color in the garden room as well. He found the most gorgeous aged wood that had streaks of that color in it (see photo) and recommended it for our ceiling along with beams similar to the vigas common to Santa Fe. We instantly said yes. I was bound and determined to have Pella sliding doors and screens - and I could not be budged. I should have listened to John on this matter as well because Pella's quality is absolutely not where it needs to be. They are beautiful but they are not as well-made as they should be. Without intending to do so, I made John's role as general contractor more difficult than it needs to be because he had to manage Pella, which is dang near unmanageable. Despite that, John got the desired result for us. We found the beautiful vertical stove that we wanted and John worked with Smokey Stoves to get it installed after he had one of his subcontractors, a stonemason, install the natural stone veneer that we chose. The quality of every single thing that John did for us was impeccable. To say that we are happy with the result is an extreme understatement. PS. He also changed something in the master bedroom area that had been driving me crazy since we bought this house five years ago. The master walk-in closet was separate from the master bathroom, which made planning what I wanted to wear and getting dressed far more difficult than it needed to be. He moved the door for me, closing off the one in the master bedroom and creating one from the master bathroom into the master walk-in closet. In addition he redid the shelves and hanging racks to much better fit our lifestyle. Again: So happy with the result. PPS. The former owners had a gardener put in, a brick patio that wrapped around the garden room. Unfortunately, no adequate preparation was done before laying down the bricks right on the dirt. We quickly realized that that had to be redone properly. John brought in Martin (pronounced Martine) Munoz. Martin's work, as well, was absolutely impeccable. We had a great time working with John and his subcontractors. What a great group of people! Believe it or not, we're actually going to miss the construction process. That says a lot, believe me. They bid a small job of another type, took a deposit, then doubled the deposit, both of which we paid. They ordered materials. Then we were forgotten. I had to proactively pursue them for status, which seemed to be received with bother. After about seven weeks and several excuses, I was offered a refund of my deposit because "I'm too busy to follow up more on what happened to this order..." Wow. Sorry to have been such a hassle for you. My bad. Unprofessional in a small town can't be a good thing. I'd recommend making another choice if it were you.

They keep you informed and involved, actually listen to your ideas and preferences and then do the job with expert care and attention to detail, explaining what is needed all along the way. Projects they've done for me include: Repairing rather than replacing rotting windows, (saving me thousands of dollars), fixing drainage issues on a balcony and re-tiling it, (which had been done previously by another outfit without success), Fixing all the wood rot caused by the aforementioned balcony drainage issues, installing beautiful wood floors and painting the rooms (and repainting someone else's botched paint job), fixing difficult doors, exterior stucco painting, and many many other small jobs I added to their punch list. My job entailed replacing two attic fans with my new, in-box units…read more 1- Your billing begins when the handyman leaves their last job. That's $65/hour just to drive to the worksite. 2- He arrived with an approximate 4 rung step ladder, which by itself would have created a challenge to get into the attic from an interior trap door on an 8 foot ceiling. The company made no effort to come out and preview the job, or ask appropriate questions to determine their needs. Since the typical job would mean loosening the shingles to pull the old unit out, roof access is required. Additional trips for equipment/supplies, at $65/hour prompted me to allow him to use my ladder, both outside and inside. 3- The repairman determined it would be easiest and more practical to leave the existing housing in place and just replace the motor fan unit with thermostat. This still required rooftop access. 4- The job was completed with 4 hours of billing AND a hardware charge of some $40. What hardware? Everything was included and there was no need to seal around a housing already in place. No itemized account for the hardware was provided so I can only theorize that I must have been renting the tools that were used. My gut feeling tells me that the billing presumed what the typical fan replacement might require and I was billed on their presumption rather than fact. 5- Mailed them a check for the full amount and added a note about they're being ill-equipped and over-charging for a job they can't substantiate -AND- I won't be using them in the future.

I had a very complicated roof (3 levels, valleys, peaks, plus separate garage) and we decided after much research to go with a standing seam 24 guage metal roof. We obtained 4 proposals and Fontana was most responsive. The owner came and spent much time with me answering all my questions, he was very patient. He "listened" intently and knew what I wanted. This was also the way his roofers acted toward me. They answered all of my questions, they were understanding, they went beyond the call by helping clean a sky light that had leaked debris into the house. Anyway, the finished product is excellent and attractive. They also installed new gutter covers, they cleaned the gutters and correct joints where I had leaks. They also removed the failed stucco around the chimney and redid it in standing seam, the end products looks like something right our of Architectural Digest! I've aready had several people passing by ask me who did the job. So overall, yes they are excellent, you won't go wrong, you get quality value for your dollars spent!
