We stopped in here before going to a concert. I assumed it was going to be packed and we would have to wait for a table. It was slammed in here with so many people but luckily there were a couple of spots at the bar so we snagged those. We ordered a few tacos, chips with salsa, and a couple of drinks including the hibiscus agua fresca and a loganberry frozen margarita. The chips here are INCREDIBLE. They are homemade and perfectly salted. The green salsa was great and had a good amount of heat but wasn't overpowering as a medium option. We ordered a couple of al pastor, barbacoa, spare rib, and braised beef tacos. They were all so good. I love how they double up on the shells too. Makes me feel better that I hopefully won't spill or have to scoop up as much after each bite. The vibes in here are immaculate. Everyone was so friendly and it was a great dinner before the concert. We had a recent Yelp event, and it was my first time. I want to begin by completing the service! A+!!! The staff was absolutely amazing, friendly, and the service was on point. It felt like stopping at your favorite aunt or uncle's house for family dinner. Very welcoming. Once you place your food order , it's out within 10 minutes (if that). Fresh , hot and delicious. We had the loaded nachos (a bit to spicy for me ), but still very flavorful. I also ordered the street corn and the churros. I had the passion fruit margarita as well. So refreshing! What a great time - we will be back. We popped in on a beautiful fall afternoon right as they opened. The location is just beautiful - I love the tall ceilings and the bright colors. The guys working were so fun to engage with--they were friendly and attentive. I swear, this was one of the best margaritas I've ever had. Kudos! The chips were a surprise--they are delicious! I love the salt and the flavor. And we loved the 2 salsas we got - green was def my fav! We are vegan and had plenty of taco options. You can't go wrong with the mushroom or tofu - they are out of this world! And we did go off the rails a bit with a baja fish taco. I can't wait to go back to this place! read more

Went here on a Tuesday for BOGO tacos. The chips that came with the guacamole was VERY salty. The chicken taquitos were delicious though. The tacos were good, but we felt they all needed more salsa. It would be great if they had a salsa bar or provided us different salsas in little bowls so we could mix and match. For example, the spicy salsa on one taco was my favorite and I would have liked it on all my tacos. They had a live DJ so the inside was a bit loud and we opted to sit outside. First time and I'm shocked I haven't been sooner. The place is small and quaint but I love it. I can definitely see it getting packed in the summer there is an outdoor patio. Everything we ate was amazing. Warning if you like hot the pineapple habanero salsa is legit! Very hot! We also got plantains which were my favorite I totally can eat them all the time. I ordered the buffalo chicken, fish and bbq tacos. You can upgrade and get a side of rice and beans which my husband did cause he's obsessed with rice. Everything was amazing nothing disappointed. Everything was great at Hombre y Lobo. The staff was super friendly and greeted us the second we walked in the door. We sat at the window at a low table that accommodated six people. The food was excellent. I had the tofu tacos with beans and rice. Everything had great flavor, and the service was super fast. We also shared the street corn, which was even better than the tacos. Well worth the trip. It is also walking distance to Key Bank center, but just far enough away to get a table on game days. It's well worth a trip to give them a try. Most of the seating is at the bar or one big high-top table. Maybe four or five regular tables seat between two to eight. They do take reservations if you are worried about the game day rush. read more

Chips & Tomatillo salsa Good flavor, the green tomato comes through well. A mild spice to it. Love the homemade tortilla chips. The taco sizes differ depending if they're corn or flour tortillas. The flour are maybe a 6" shell, and the corn are maybe 3-4" Baja Fish 9/10 Super soft fish, Crispy on the outside. Couldn't taste the crema very much. I think I'd rather have regular cabbage over purple cabbage too. Buffalo Chicken 10/10 Idk if they use a chicken tender or hand bread it, but the coating was delicious and a perfect fry. Juicy chicken. The buffalo hot sauce/blue cheese flavors come through great. It's pretty much the taco version of a chicken finger sub. Chorizo 10/10 Not a spicy chorizo. Really great flavor and soft meat. Carnitas 8/10 Had a tiny bit of spice to it, the meat was a good flavor. Still have no idea what salsa negra is. Shrimp Tacos 8/10 Good cook on the shrimp, nice and crispy too. Not a huge fan of the pickled onion, they had a little bite to them if you ate one alone. Avocado and pineapple balanced the heat pretty well. White Rice 10/10 First bite I thought this was just plain white rice. Well it sure isn't! A great cilantro lime flavor, and a little salt. Delicious! Black beans 9/10 Pretty good beans, just needed a little more salt and flavor in general. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally went over the weekend. I had a loganberry margarita, chips and salsa, and a tofu taco. The loganberry margarita was fabulous, very flavorful and not too sweet. The chips and salsa were also amazing! We chose the tomatillo salsa which I loved the flavor of. My tofu taco was delicious as well- the only downside is I asked for no guacamole on it but they must have forgotten because it came with that on it. The atmosphere of restaurant itself was lovely and the service was great. We sat at the bar and there were so many wonderful plants inside. Ladies night was a hit at Hombre y Lobo! We shared chips and tomatillo salsa - the chips were thick and crunchy and the salsa was fresh and a little spicy. We all got tacos, and we enjoyed our selections. The cocktails were delicious! I got a lavender margarita and a cucumber margarita - both were SO good. The vibes in here were immaculate. There was a DJ playing music the whole time. When I drove by later, I saw lots of people dancing and a different DJ was blasting salsa music. It looked so fun! We went here for BOGO taco Tuesday. The Baja fish tacos were very good. Loved their flour tortillas shells. The Chiavetta's chicken were just ok , they really didn't taste like Chiavetta's Chicken. The loganberry margarita set a new record for the smallest margarita I've ever had. I would never know the flavor was loganberry. The nachos were average. Normal prices of $5.50 and $7.00 for the taco's were much higher than most of the Mexican restaurants we frequent. The BOGO however made them a good deal. The $8.00 Happy Hour Margarita was no deal, glad I didn't have to pay the normal $10.00 You place your order at a counter and they bring your order to your table. Everyone was very pleasant and the food came out quickly. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Nothing fancy but adequate. You also can sit at the bar. read more

It has been a while since I've had Mexican, and this was such a fun stop and great for a date night. It's a small interior, but they also have a patio. It was too cold for us when we went, but I bet it's great in the summer. So be prepared to make friends with people or wait for some seats to open if you want to be inside. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. I've never been one for margaritas, but I asked the bartender and she suggested the loganberry margarita. For someone who doesn't like margaritas, I definitely loved the two I had. Literally so delicious and sweet. We also got chips and dip, which was a yummy appetizer. I'm a sucker for a good quesadilla and this fit the bill. It was super cheesy and they were generous with the chicken. Perfect place for a happy hour. They have various specials every day 4-6, plus additional specials each day, like taco Tuesday where all tacos are bogo. There are two vegan tacos on the menu - Flat 12 mushroom on corn tortillas and a tofu taco on their signature puffy flour tortilla. All the happy hour specials are $8 and includes house margaritas, loganberry margaritas, guacamole, beer and a shot, and others. Chips are flour rather than corn and are crispy perfection. I went with some friends for my husband's 50th. We are both vegan (friends non-vegan). There were options for everyone. We all started with the chips/guacamole, nachos w/ impossible chorizo, and plantains. So good! We each ordered the taco combo (2 tacos,rice/beans). I had tofu and mushroom tacos and my husband had the impossible chorizo. My non-vegan friends had the chicken finger tacos. EVERYTHING was so good The 2 guys taking care of us were fun and did a great job.. oh, I cannot forget about the yummy margaritas! We ordered a house margarita, hibiscus margarita, a braised beef taco, chorizo taco, chips with salsa, and the shishito peppers. The margaritas were excellent. Real lime, not a sweet and sour mix with quality tequila. The hibiscus one was very smoky from the mezcal tequila with a touch of sweetness. On to the food. The chorizo taco was loaded with toppings and a very tasty chorizo sausage with a fun 'puffy' flour tortilla. The braised beef was also good but way too salty. I had to dunk it in the habanero salsa to weigh out the flavors and salt (ended up being a tasty combo). The shishito peppers were fried with just salt and lime juice and were delicious. I could eat those as a side dish every day! The tortilla chips were also delicious. So crunchy with just a bit of salt. The salsas were also delicious with a spicy mango habanero (my favorite) and a tomatillo salsa with a nice onion and garlic flavor. We also spoke to one of the owners. He was very friendly, and you could tell how much he enjoyed designing the space and menu. He was also the one making our amazing cocktails. We will definitely be back! read more

I was really craving tacos but wanted to try someplace new. This popped up and we headed downtown. In the shadow of Sahlen Field, a great place to stop before a sporting event! When we arrived there were only a few groups there, so fairly quiet. The atmosphere is industrial with high open ceilings and walls of windows. They had a outdoor patio still open on this beautiful fall day. We decided to order a variety of their tacos. Since they have a full bar, we had to try one of their speciality drinks too. The tacos were all delicious, but my favorite was the Barbacoa bbq the chipotle crema was just the right amount of heat! My husbands favorite was the Chorizo with the puffy shell. We gauge our Mexican restaurants on the rice and beans for some reason lol. The beans were flavorful and when looking at the rice we thought they looked pretty plain, but looks are deceiving because they were so flavorful. Two thumbs up. So, this place is superbly managed and has incredibly good food. How can you go wrong. Taco Tuesday is BOGO taco day and there are early specials. Cute, cute, cute. But not sure about location, location, location. Free parking is on the street. I did spot a couple of paid lots; perhaps they are free at night. And when we left, I noticed a fenced lot adjacent to the building, but that may have been for apartment dwellers. I hadn't intended to start out with parking, so I guess subconsciously I felt it to be a drawback to success. On to the eats. I had the house margarita. First sip --excellent! In fact the first half of the drink was very good. Suddenly it got salty. We'd asked for no salt on the rim, so maybe the bartender thought we wanted it at the bottom. But the bottom half of the drink was not for me. The food, however, was very good, very fresh, and attractive. (Sorry for any blurry photos.) I had the Buffalo Chx taco and the carnitas taco. Of the two, the carnitas was easier to eat, less messy, and was also packed with shredded pork. The Buffalo Chx taco had 2 or 3 pieces of breaded chicken in it, and quite a bit of bleu cheese. I enjoyed them both, but in future would stick with the carnitas. Although I do want sometime to try the mushroom taco. Friendly employees, and attentive. Atmosphere cozy and relaxed. The music was a bit depressing. Must be I like happy music when eating and drinking. Or at least when eating. I would have liked '50s rock 'n roll. Seemed kind of a throwback sort of place. In sum, fresh and delicious food, nice people, comfy and cozy ambience. In better weather, though, I'd suggest more bike racks and perhaps a bike rental station. It's probably a great place. For some people. I am not some people. There's nowhere to park without paying $10. It's way too loud inside. Like, I couldn't even think or read loud. I've always ordered take out from an app (like this one) which was a little over priced. The food is big on flavor, small on size so I recommend ordering in house or calling your order in, for a better value. This review is biased bc I ordered a drink that I received while sitting at the bar, was waiting for a friend to join me, got something out of my car (earplugs if I'm being honest), and when I came back in my drink was moved aside and seats were given away by the bartender. So I left without ordering food or getting to enjoy my little drink. Major bummer. I'm all set with this place. You might like it tho. Edit: After reading the business owner's response, I chose to update the rating to 5 stars because I was not being fair. I did not however, alter my original review that is posted above this edit. I failed to mention that staff did try to proactively resolve my frustration. I was curious to try other menu items without making a whole scene or explain myself, so I chose to just remove myself. This was my choice and should not be a major reflection on the quality of the product or service, because both are very fine. He also throughout our meal checked on us. I am SUPER picky when it comes to food choices and restaurants.
