I am of Mexican descent, and am an excellent cook. I make my own Mexican salsa's and tamales. I avoid going out to eat Mexican food, because I can do so at home. My wife suggested we eat at local Mexican establishments to support their businesses. To please her, I agreed to join her and have never tasted such terrible food. The first time I asked for a dish with shrimp, which was over salted. The waiter, possibly owner, apologized and accommodated my request for a newly prepared dish. Unfortunately, the second dish was even saltier than the first. The owner agreed and did not charge me. I did not end up eating any food. Recently, a colleague at my place of work suggested going to this same restaurant, because as a Mexican American, she missed going to eat good Mexican food. I did not share my prior experience, hoping that perhaps it would be a one time event. Importantly, I informed the waitress to tell the chef to not place much salt on my food. Unfortunately, upon receiving both of our dishes we both agreed the food was over salted. Even the damn salsa they provide is over salted! Moreover, my colleague requested shredded meat in her tacos, which was not what was served. Ultimately, my colleague agreed that it is not a place worth going to. Once again, I want to support local immigrant owned businesses, but will not support this one any longer. I honestly don't know how others can provide positive ratings for this restaurant. Unless everyone is yearning to eat food following a 27-mile run and are craving salt due to electrolyte loss, then perhaps this is your spot. Otherwise, if you want to accelerate your journey toward a heart attack with food that is soulless head on over to Taqueria Los Mayas. Despite this negative review, we both left a 20% tip as we are aware that poor food is not a reflection on other employees. It is, however, a negative reflection of the owner(s) who fail to read reviews. Others too have complained about the over salted food on this platform. I'm still trying to figure out what they put in that food because I have never left a Mexican restaurant feeling quite like that. The food was so ridiculously good that it genuinely put me in a different state of mind. Every bite was flavorful, rich, and satisfying. And the funniest part? I only had one margarita. ONE. I wasn't stumbling around drunk or anything -- I was just sitting there completely overwhelmed by how good everything tasted and suddenly feeling way more flirtatious and sexually charged than any normal person should after dinner. The combination of that margarita, the incredible food, and whatever kind of culinary magic was happening in that kitchen had me leaving the restaurant feeling hot, confident, and extremely ready to make some questionable romantic decisions. The quesadilla was stuffed with meat and cheese---my only issue was that I requested the queso on the side but it was on top. It's been a while since we were last year, but as has been in the past, the food and service was good. We were seated right next to the speakers, so the music was a little loud (sensory overload), but everything else was good. The tacos were perfect, I love that they still have a taco toppings bar (and the fresh varieties), huge fan of the tortilla chips, and the beer. I tried a Negra Modelo for the first time, and its surely my most favorite Mexican beer. Im a fan of dark beers and this one was great. Prices are about average for a restaurant during these times. The greatest Mexican food you will ever have. After seven or eight years of attending this restaurant I am finally making a review. This has by far been the most consistent restaurant I have ever been to in my life. I have been here with my significant other AT LEAST 20 times and I swear every time we go it's actually gotten better. It's no understatement that this will be the last place you ever go for Mexican food if you live around here. I remember the days before they existed as a restaurant, and now after experiencing life with Los Mayas, I can confidently say I would be beyond devastated if it ever closed or anything like that. The other places just do not compare, not even ones I used to like back in the day. Service is always the absolute best, even when super busy and hectic they're fast and the food is up quick. Plenty of chips and salsa, amazing queso cheese dip, perfect Mexican restaurant vibes and ambiance, not to mention they have a salsa bar complete with fresh cilantro, onions, lime and more for you to enjoy. Every meal I have ever ordered here was amazing, there's really not any more than needs to be said. I've been a fan for a long time. Food remains excellent but they nickel and dime you to death. It's so petty. I guess people can say then why are you complaining but things like this should just be built into the price. They charge you extra for corn tortillas. They incredibly up charge you for getting two chicken and one beef or two beef and one chicken enchilada when they are both the same price for all three. Worst of all, for the first time they now charged $4.50 for a second small portion of chips and salsa. Then they charge a 3% credit card fee. Their beer prices have always been high but I put up with them. But the combination of extra charges is really annoying. I will be going less often. The only Mexican restaurant I've been to here and likely will remain the only restaurant I'll go to. It's that good. If it's your first time here, you will probably be a little confused since the outside looks just like a regular house. But once you walk in the door, it'll feel like you're you just stepped into Mexico. The interior is vibrant and authentic. Basically like a hole in the wall. They give you a free basket of tortilla chips with some of the best salsa I've ever had. And they even have a salsa bar in the back if you want to try other salsas they have and some other stuff. Since I wasn't sure what to get, I had asked for recommendations. I was recommended the Enchiladas, which was so good that I came back again just for them and even took another friend. I also tried two of their tacos, a chicken taco and one that caught my curiosity: cactus. Both of which are great but not my favorite. The other recommendation I asked to be a surprise, and I'll say, I was very surprised. It was something I've never seen before, Molcajete. It came out in a hot and heavy mortar, with chicken, beef, jalapeños, and a bunch of other stuff. The Molcajete and the Enchiladas both came with a side of rice and beans, which were amazing. The Molcajete was great, just what shocked me was that it was $30+. I was recommended the most expensive item on the menu. While my wallet did regret that decision, my stomach did not. To finish our meal, we ended with their Tres Leches Cake. I absolutely love Tres Leches Cake, so this is a must when I saw it on the menu, and it did not disappoint! However I just wish they did not use the rainbow sprinkles, which were hard and ruined the texture. read more

The meat in the tacos was packed with flavor, and generously portioned in the tortilla. Truly excellent tacos. Next time I'll ask for onion and cilantro because that's how I'm used to having street tacos but honestly the flavor is so robust that they didn't need anything else. These might be some of my favorite tacos in Buffalo. Yes they did have toppings added on top of the meat but they were smelled so good, my phone only grabbed these pictures before I had to dig in. We were craving some tacos and this spot is right around the corner. We each had 3 tacos, and some chips with salsa. We called ahead for pick up. Our order was done so quick and was ready right when we got there. They were spot on with their timing. The tacos themselves were delicious. I think this might be my favorite al pastor taco ever. The pineapple complimented the meat perfectly and wasn't overpowering for the taco either. The carne asada and chorizo tacos were great as well. The ambience in the restaurant is nice too. Parking is kind of a nightmare. Understand that you can park on the Union Rd side of the restaurant. It's very tight and not much space to move. Also people will pull through the entrance to the restaurant which is a driveway rhis makes it very dangerous. The food is authentic MexicanI'm food and mostly tastes delicious. Our waitress Laura S was prompt and courteous. The meals were a bit overpriced for what you get. I had the Pork Chimichanga which was really good. My daughter had the chicken fingers and they were terrible overcooked and like rocks as seen in the picture. Just because they are for a child don't think they don't know the difference. My wife had the enchiladas rancheras and my son had 4 molida tacos. They both enjoyed them. We had fried ice cream which was really good. I had been wanting to try this restaurant out for a while after seeing very positive reviews. Count me in as a fan for the Mexican food here! I had the fajitas, which were very good. Chicken was flavored nicely... mixed with peppers and onions. A plate full of lettuce,tomato, sour cream and a guacamole salad were the ingredients to load into your fajita. It all came together for two delicious fajitas. I only wish it came with a third fajita as I had plenty of chicken and veggies left after devouring the two fajitas. TLM is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Buffalo and I bring everyone I know here to spread the good word about their delicious cuisine. I've gone through quite a few items on the menu, but always end up going back for the tacos. My current favorite is to get two nopal and potato tacos and one chorizo, then combine the fillings and top with lots of fresh lime. Pair with a coronarita for maximum indulgence and make sure you have a DD to get you home safely. The menu is large enough that anyone can find something to enjoy and the service is typically quick and efficient.
