We paid someone to replace the floor in 2022, but after a year, the LVP started peeling. They wouldn't stand by their work and instead offered to charge us for something they should've fixed at the time. Matthew from ACE Plumbing looked at the floor, identified the problem, and pointed out other (now obvious) issues leading that were leading to the feeling that the home was kinda falling apart. We initially asked for just the floor to be fixed, and other contractors only quoted us for the band aid solutions we thought we needed. However, Matt dug deeper and discovered rot in the siding, a leaking roof, and deteriorating walls, among other challenges. We chose Matt and ACE Plumbing over four other contractors because he was communicative, always available to answer questions, and proactive in giving advice that would save us trouble in the long run. Since we don't live in the home, Matt and his crew kept us up to date with photos and phone calls. As issues came up, he informed us of the process needed to resolve them. Throughout the entire process, we felt we were in the hands of professionals. Matt was able to describe the problems with our beautiful but old house, outline our options for a fix, and provide a timeline that worked for us. Another benefit was that Matt didn't just contract out the work we paid him good money for. He was on-site, getting dirty with his crew and taking videos to answer our questions. Mr. Marroquin's price was extremely competitive; he seemed to know a great deal about systems and equipment, and I really liked his "all in" pricing because the electrician work came bundled into the price. (Drywall repair was NOT included - but that turned out to be okay because I'm having solar panels put in later and that site survey crew was thrilled about pre-cut holes, LOL!) This was a BIG project; removal of a gas furnace and replacing it with 7 indoor air handlers and 3 outdoor compressors. The entire project took about one month to complete - almost exactly what had been predicted. Even before he could get started on the new project, the existing "whole house" heat pump system that serviced the upstairs of the 3,100 sq. ft. house broke down on a 95-degree day in D.C. Mr. Marroquin came out and worked all day on a Sunday to get it going, as the upstairs system would be the only AC for the house for the month it would take to change over to the new system that would service the main floor and lower level. He rejuvenated the existing system and gave it a comprehensive servicing for a very good price. We had to store equipment on site for a bit, but I liked that Mr. Marroquin wanted ALL of the equipment in hand before he started the project so we wouldn't be left hanging by supply chain issues. For the new install project Mr. Marroquin stayed in constant contact so I could trust he and his crew would be there on the days he'd said they would, or else he would let me know promptly of changes in schedule. I was on work assignment on the opposite coast, so he, I and my house sitter were able to work out a good system for giving him access to the house via a key box and us remotely resetting the alarm at the end of each workday. Mr. Marroquin was extremely conscientious about securing the house and texting me until I confirmed the alarm was reset. He tented EVERYTHING with plastic and put down tarp to protect the wood flooring (there were appreciative messages hand written on the tarp thanking me for my business!) Even as the owner of the company, he was pretty much the last person to leave the job site every day, taking time to sweep and even wet-clean some areas. Because of the configuration, there needed to be conduit cover for lines on the front of the house. I was very concerned about these being too noticeable and detracting from my curb appeal. Mr. Marroquin took great care to obtain paintable line-set conduit for these and he color-matched and painted them PERFECTLY to blend in with the color of the stucco. He was also responsive to my concerns about condensate from the outdoor compressors draining too close to the home's foundation and on my rear deck. He was creative, coming up with inconspicuous clear tubing and PVC piping systems to drain the water away. When the job was done he brought HIS MOTHER to the house to help with the final cleaning - so impressive! As you can tell, I'm very pleased with HVAC Performance and Wilson Marroquin. The only areas where the service could have been a bit better were around "paperwork" issues. Like most contractors who work from sun up to sundown, paperwork is often the last thing they get to. I never did get a fully completed contract before the work started, and I had to make a pest of myself to get the final invoice with cost breakouts so that I could claim my rebates and energy credits on my taxes. Also, Mr. Marroquin was very enthusiastic about Daikin brand - and the units ARE very quiet from what I'm used to and the price was good. But the plastic housing of the air handlers was apparently extremely delicate and the crew cracked the condensate pump access slots on every single unit! Mr. Marroquin and I had to have several talks about how to conceal this. Hooray for white duct tape - not ideal, but not a huge eyesore either.

However I had a strange experience with Walbert. When I attempted to get additional information on some other Payne models, the estimator told me Payne didn't offer those for sale in the Clinton MD area. I called Payne and they denied this. My guess is Walbert must have gotten stuck with a unit of the Payne furnace they were pushing. After researching Payne and other furnaces on my own, I ultimately decided to buy the model they were pushing and I'm sold on the furnace and the service Walbert provided

Making things worse, Walbert's customer service is bad. Everyone I dealt with was extremely rude, from the woman who answers the phone to the servicemen who came by.
