What followed was a complete failure to deliver even basic, safe care. Caregivers were routinely late or didn't show up at all. Despite clear instructions that my mother was to receive care only from female caregivers, they sent a male caregiver anyway. Many caregivers appeared poorly trained and were unable to assist with mobility as promised. On one occasion, a caregiver dropped my mother on the floor. Even more alarming, caregivers failed to follow critical instructions to properly thicken her food and beverages. This failure resulted in pneumonia, an emergency room visit, and hospitalization, forcing us to end services early. Since then, Home Helpers has refused to return our calls and has not refunded the money owed, including the deposit and unused prepaid care. This company showed a shocking lack of accountability, competence, and concern for patient safety. If you are considering Home Helpers for an elderly or vulnerable loved one, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

He's suggested supplements you can buy at any drugstore and doesn't push them at his office! We have left our Dr in Atlanta to be treated in our hometown. Unbeknownst to me, my neighbor and her husband went to him years ago for low energy and hair falling out and where treated for low thyroid function. Seriously there were many time I thought I should go eat there JUST for the food. Sadly when I was there for 3 weeks in Dec 2016 the food was NOT the yumminess I remember. The sandwich bar is still good!! I especially love the pretzel bun! And they're made to order using quality ingredients. Not skimpy either - nicely done on the balance of ingredients! However the entree and sides that in the past tasted small batch homemade and nutritious (aka not fried) have become industrial, prepackaged glop and mostly fried and/or dried out. The best line was someone's comment that the roast turkey was so dried out it looked like "toast"!! Ha ha ha! Highlight - 2nd floor coffee shop!! A real espresso machine and ab fab smoothies! They also have tasty sweet treats and usually at lunch a soup (which may or may not match the cafeteria)! Speaking of coffee - some floors have free and accessible coffee, tea, ice, etc but some don't - I encourage you to walk around or ask! If you have to be in a hospital this is probably one of the best around. They have some of the BEST specialists in the entire region. I especially think the Walker Heart Institute is amazing! You'd have to go to a much larger metropolitan area to do better! Best advice - stay out of hospitals - they are not a good place to be . He checked in regularly and also coordinated all the specialists (physical therapy, occupational therapy -- even a shower aide!) who together eased my husband's path. Hunter stayed involved, even giving us his cell phone in case we were in trouble. We weren't, but it sure was nice to have. When Hunter thought we were doing well enough, and we agreed, he carefully transitioned us to being on our own. I can't tell you what a great experience it was -- there are no words. I would call and find out that she had discharged him the week before.
