Having previously been in at least 4 other nursing facilities in the Denver area, we have finally found a place with consistently loving, compassionate caregivers on every level. Laundry staff, cleaning, maintenance, receptionists, CNA's, RNs, MD's Physical and Occupational Therapists , Activity specialists and kitchen staff ( If I left anyone out, it was purely unintentional ).... Bottom line, ALL are AMAZING ! I can honestly say that , in 3 years, I have not noticed anything but kindness and compassion exuding from all staff members. From the care we have received, it is quite obvious that the staff are happy in their chosen professions. A clear example of how fun and special Fairacres is would be the myriad of activities available to those who want to partake. Angie Spencer , a long time employee and Director of Activities, has worked there for years. She puts her heart and soul into making as many days and special occasions as possible super fun. On Monday, for example, when I arrived, they were having a musical chairs type cake walk. It was so fun to watch and if you "landed on" the number that was called out, you won a delicious small bakery cake ! Two days later, I arrived to see my sister and it was " Karaoke Day " . The residents who participated loved it !! Angie had also decorated the resident hallways each day with symbols of various countries , like Mexico, Spain, France etc. The food that was served throughout the day aligned with the particular country that was being showcased. Every Friday, from noon til 5, residents , either male or female can get manicures while listening to " oldies" from their younger years. I literally could go on and on with Bingo, field trips , Wii bowling , volunteer bands and singing groups , dog shows , Valentine's parties etc etc etc. She and her team go out of their way to spread warmth and joy among the residents . It is really quite remarkable. From a medical standpoint, that level of care is also outstanding. The nurses, doctors , Nurse Practitioners and CNA's are all very knowledgeable and caring. I am a retired RN MS and so , please know , that my observations come from a very objective viewpoint. My hope for anyone who is looking for a loving "home" for their family members is that you find what I and many like me have found at Fairacres. I apologize for writing a " book" , I just feel very passionately about this wonderful facility !!!

The entire staff - management, nursing, housekeeping, etc. - were all friendly, competent and compassionate. Many family members from all over the U.S. visited my sister during her stay and staff was very accommodating about letting us use areas where this large group could gather, play games, visit and eat together. We were made to feel welcome at all times. Staff also helped us make transport arrangements when needed. My sister passed away shortly after leaving Riverbend and all of us were comforted by the loving care she received during this final stage of her life.

He is blind and has a broken knee, was in here for "rehab" and he would call us to let us know they would leave him on the toilet for more than 10 minutes even after he would call for help! This was proven to be true by his Dr who took pictures of the bruises behind his legs from sitting on the toilet for so long, as well as the bruises on his arms and rest of his body from staff not treating him properly! F**** this place how could anyone ever treat anyone like this, understaffed or not!

Sixteen months ago we moved our parents from out of state to Good Sam. We visited 5-6 different…read moreplaces and chose Good Sam for the following reasons: *The staff was very welcoming and informative. *The campus, although "older," was clean and well maintained. * There was a feeling of longevity with the staff and coming from a place that was a revolving door of caregivers, that was VERY appealing. * There was an official CHAPEL. That was important to my parents to have a place to gather, worship, & play piano in an area that wasn't a multi-purpose room. * The location was off the beaten path and quiet vs. living on a busy thoroughfare. * There were many other reasons but those were the ones that come to mind at the moment. Mom and Dad moved into Assisted Living (those apartments hold more than you think). After 5 weeks mom had a serious decline in health and had to be moved to the HEALTHCARE wing. Dad, from the Assisted Living area was able to visit her as much as he wanted, and the staff there was very attentive. There were times when we had to wait after pushing the button for help... but overall the care was very good and the staff was very kind and welcoming to the entire family when we would be in and out. Mom passed three months later and Good Sam made everything smooth during this journey. The campus minister visited mom in the last days and came to see the family in the last hours. During a difficult time we received lots of support and hugs from the staff. Good Sam's partnership with Bloom/Hospice was appreciated as well. Dad is now living in the same Assisted Living apartment they moved into last year. He is involved with playing the piano at various times, whether it be for church services or in the dining room as people gather. He goes to a few of the exercise classes. The teacher of the class worked with him to figure out a little workout with equipment in the gym area. He has choices of many activities each day. Sometimes he'll call and be interested in something and ask if we want to come over. We have joined him for many of these events throughout the year and have been impressed by the variety of programs brought to campus and the number of people in attendance. Yes, there are times we wonder if we chose the right place, but dad seems happy, safe and cared for. Each person/family is different with various expectations and backgrounds. For us this has been a 5-star move! Thank you Good Sam, for everything!

She was extremely informative and answered all of my questions. She made me feel so comfortable about scheduling a tour. Kathy explained that she is off on Mondays and that Dad and I would be touring with Kirstyn. Dad and I arrived a little early and Kirstyn was just finishing with someone else. The receptionist was so friendly, showed us to the sitting room and offered a beverage. Kirstyn built a great rapport with Dad, she wasn't afraid to laugh and smile. The community is absolutely beautiful. The 2 bedroom apartment my Dad chose is large, bright, and more than enough space. Dad particularly liked the gym and the ability to walk down the hall for fitness classes. Everyone we've met along this journey has been fantastic. Angie took the time to answer all of Dads question during lease signing. She knew residents by name and shared many smiles. Since moving in Dad seems to be more himself. He is relaxed, eating well, and socializing. I wish he would've moved a few years ago.

Staff consistently went "above and beyond" to provide skilled/compassionate care/support. I always enjoyed eating with Mom and her friends in the dining room, as the food was great, schedule was flexible, and the atmosphere never felt institutional. Entertainment/recreational opportunities were always varied and fun. I especially appreciated the in-house (but separately-contracted) physical/occupational therapy and home health aide services. I am a RN so I saw, personally and professionally, how well this place operates. I hope I can find a home as wonderful as this when I am older!

The patience of the staff with a high-needs patient was beyond appreciated. The atmosphere was lovely, food always looked amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to help family feel included in her care plan. Our loved one did not make their job easy at times, but the nurses, CNAs, and other staff members did their very best to keep her comfortable and cared for.
