Shelves - height placement ... Door and Shower - height placement) for Our approval for ANYTHING cosmetic, and or for aesthetic purposes ... The remodeled bathrooms look great. My problem with them is that don't stand behind their work. One bathroom had a medicine cabinet. They replaced it with a new one. When I inspected their work at the end, there were very few to do items. The one thing didn't inspect was rooms adjoining the bathrooms. They did damage to the dry wall in an adjoining bedroom that is unoccupied. I discovered the damage after the warranty and they would not do the repair. Also this year I discovered a crack in the molding that had expanded during the dry winter. They do not stand behind their work. read more

We were lucky enough to connect with Johan from Dulles Kitchen and Bath and we hit the jackpot. He's the perfect mix of guiding you and respecting your style. He listened to what we wanted and incorporated it into our design. This sounds trivial but his customer service skills are extraordinary. He was responsive, empathetic and a problem solver. He certainly made the process much easier for us and when we hit bumps, he always handled them well. Issues always come up, it's how people handle them that really show you who they are. We would highly recommend Johan to everyone and everyone. We also live in a townhouse and he worked with us without a ton of upselling realizing that we love our home but it's not our forever home. If you've met someone that says "no problem" by default but never follows through? This is NOT Johan. If he says "no problem" it happens. Second part of the review... Jose. I have never in my life met someone with such attention to detail. Jose is clearly super experienced and will also tell you when he doesn't agree with what you are doing, which is a trait I respect. If you want your project done safely and to code this is not the company for you. Also if you're a woman and are overseeing this project, this is not the company for you. While the contractor that showed up each day was super pleasant and a hard worker there are some things that a certified professional should take care of. (Plumbing/Electrical) When changing out the lights an old electrical box needed to be moved/disconnected. We found the electrical box was not disconnected properly and was hidden behind drywall. That is an illegal safety violation. When we asked them to fix it they took the box out, duct taped the hot wires together and put them back in the wall. That's worse! So after an argument with Matt and Johan from DKB they sent licensed electricians to remedy the problem. When I confronted DKB about this shoddy work they said "let's not make a big deal out of small things." I'm sorry but illegal electrical that could cause a serious fire seems like a big deal to me. We also had a leak under the master bath sink and a pipe burst in the hall bathroom during the reno. Both of these were minor in the grand scheme of the renovation but a licensed plumber may have done it right the first time. Our project manager was "sick" regularly and didn't show much interest in our project. A few items were back ordered or ordered incorrectly, which is fine, but when I tried to communicate with him or ask questions about the missing items, multiple times he ignored me or didn't speak to me. The contractor had to act as our middle man several times and even at one point had to say "yo, she's talking to you!" I guess the project manager didn't like that the contractor and I had a rapport so he told the contractor to "act like you don't understand English". I think that's offensive. Overall the bathrooms look nice. They're not perfect, but we're glad to be done. We would not use this company again. They don't take responsibility for the fact that the contractors they use are unlicensed, and doing work that is potential dangerous! I don't just care that it looks good. "Please keep the hardware and mounding so it matches with the rest of the house", turned into a 3 week delay because they threw it all out and had to custom order. Second attempt on a door still swung wrong way, so they just changed hardware and left gaps from flipping it. Hardware still wrong. They arrived at 8am...and tried to stay "to finish" one night past 9pm. Finally had to send them home to return the next day for 4 more hours of work. Very polite guys, clean up very well too, but definitely a language barrier with the first crew. Make sure you check your contract specifically for every little detail too. Will not be hiring this team again. Showroom was nice, but a "2 week max" job turned into nearly 6 weeks and delayed my 95 yr old dad being able to move. On September 23, we stopped into Dulles Kitchen and Bath in Vienna and spoke to Patrick about remodeling our kitchen. We made an appointment for the following Thursday for him to come to our house to measure and prepare an estimate for us. An hour and a half after the appointment time, we called the office to see where he was. The woman who answered the phone said she would check and call back. When she returned our call, she said he had an "emergency" and rescheduled for the next day. Patrick offered no apology for the missed appointment, measured the kitchen, showing little interest in talking about what we wanted to do, and said he would be back in touch with us the next week with an estimate and to set up a time for us to come in and talk about specific cabinets, etc. It is now 5 weeks later and we have not heard from Patrick or anyone else at Dulles Kitchen and Bath. In the meantime, we have hired a contractor with excellent customer service. read more

We found Dulles Kitchen & Bath through Google & reached out for a quote to remodel most of our home (the main & upper level, excluding our basement). Their price was competitive when compared to 3 other contractors (Northern VA area). Ali, Johan & Firuz were very professional in all our interactions, even when issues arose. 80% of our expectations were met with this renovation. Items done well: -Kitchen: We requested Ikea cabinetry; setup & install. They accommodated this request, even though they do not specialize in Ikea hardware. The design is exactly what we wanted & we saved some $ on the cabinetry. The tile work, counters, lighting & appliances are beautiful. - Main Level Flooring: We chose a hardwood-look tile for the main level and the install was flawless. The tile installer was excellent bc we do not believe the flooring could have turned out better. -Upper Level Flooring: We purchased some wide plank wood flooring that matched the color of the tile on the Main Level from Lowes that we really loved and they installed it pretty well. One plank needed to be redone, but for the most part that install was well executed. -Main Level Stairs: DKB replaced our stairs with new wood steps & stained them to match both floor levels. They also replaced our railing & stained that to match. That was also done very well except for some detail work. -Pantry install: DKB, at our request, walled up & created a pantry for our kitchen. It is not only super functional but looks like it was there all along. -Electric Fireplace install: DKB installed an electric fireplace in our living room that we purchased on Amazon & it is beautiful. They ran a separate circuit for the unit to our panel as required & we feel they did a good job, to code. -Drywall work: Our home is older so there was a significant amount of necessary drywall work such as nail pops & uneven wall textures that needed to be done. We feel they completed this well. -Recessed light install: We are happy with our new lighting. They really accommodated us bc we changed our mind mid-project on the color of the lighting (we realized it was too harsh once installed). Items not fully completed &/or completed to our dissatisfaction: - Paint Job: For the money we paid, we expected a much better paint job. The result would have been the same if we had painted the walls ourselves. The transitions between the ceiling & the walls are sloppy & we had to address this with DKB several times throughout the process. The excuse we received was that the walls were uneven. -Marble transitions from bathrooms: We requested 4 times that marble transitions be white &/or gray in color. Beige was installed instead. -Closet Door install: We requested at the beginning of the quote, for the closet doors to be replaced. We specifically mentioned the gaps at the top of the closet doors which drove us nuts. They did replace the closet doors but never remedied the gaps at the top of the closet doors. Yes, the closet doors look better, but it was not what we wanted. We expressed our displeasure to DKB & while we believe they tried to adjust the doors to satiate our nagging, they took the cheap/short-cut route instead of properly reframing the doors to make them flush. The excuse we received was that the walls were uneven, again. - Detail work: This is one of the most difficult parts of any project, but we really had to stay on them for sloppy detail work. The gist: some stair detail (trim and steps), paint lines, a piece of trim was left completely unfinished in our master bedroom (which now my husband is going to finish), etc. -Timeline for completion of project: The original estimated TOC was between 3 weeks to 1 month. They finished in 2 months + some days. We became so frustrated with the timeline (partially bc I'm pregnant) that we gave up on addressing all the detail work that needed redoing &/or touchup. -3rd party contractor management: 3 separate 3rd party contractors were used for our project. For the most part, the contractors were on time & efficient. One of the contractors really lagged on a lot of the work which we believe affected TOC. This same contractor was the one made excuses that the walls were uneven & did some sloppy finishing work. On the flip side, this same contractor did our kitchen (the most difficult aspect of the job) & we couldn't be happier with the result (so not sure what happened there). Bottom Line: We are happy we did the renovation, bc our house really needed it. However, you will need to stay on top of the company to get what you want & communicate without hesitation. DKB is well mannered and eager to please so for the most part it was a pleasant experience. We believe they could have made the experience more enjoyable if they had managed their 3rd party contractor expediently. We hired Dulles Kitchen and Bath thru our friend's referral. We needed to renovate our kitchen. Johan was our estimator and designer, patiently helped us throughout the process, and details with the design that we wanted. Final measurement was scheduled, supervisor Ali and PM Firuz showed up, went through everything one more time. And we were told that the project would take 3-4 weeks to finish. During the demo we were unable to be at home, they left a lockbox with the copy of our keys. When we got home after work, the driveway and entrance was so clean that we thought no one had showed up. The entire kitchen we had was gone. Necessary places were covered up. It took the entire project to finish in 25 days. PM Firuz was at the job site every day, the days we were not home we were always updated what was going on. Designer Johan stopped couple of times, supervisor Ali, contacted us several of times, to follow up if their employers and the project was going okay. In April 2022 we got our master bathroom remodeled. We are extremely disappointed in the service we received from this company. We felt that the project was not done in a professional, proper and timely manner. First and foremost, the customer service was non-existent. Not only was the company owner rude and uninterested in our complaints, but the field manager, Adam, had no control over Carlos and the servicing crew that was doing the bathroom. I called the studio and left a voice mail. I received a return call in app. 5 minutes. A female (maybe a receptionist) apologized for being late and said I could come in. I went inside, but the designer was not there yet. The designer showed up app. 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment. We greeted each other, and I said I didn't like it when people don't respect others' time. He said he lived far away. I responded I also had to come from a far location. Then he suddenly yelled at me saying I yelled at him and I was not "respectful." Then he opened the door and told me to leave immediately. I said I did not yell but just complained about his being late, but he said that he was not my child and was not "respected" by me. Maybe I was too sensitive because he was late for about 15 minutes only. But I don't know how I could have "respected" him when he was the one who did not show up on time. Maybe the business is so good these days, and they still can have many customers with such a bad attitude for now. But being in a personal service business myself, I just could not understand the designer's attitude. I planned to discuss a whole house renovation project with a 300K budget. I needed a GFI changed ater a year and not only did he replace it free, he also replaced another that was not part of the project! In the build phase, I changed something I wanted which required the workers to tear out a wall of cabinets they already installed, make a custom cabinet for me (to use what would have been wasted space to make a water bottle holder) and reinstall everything. NO EXTRA CHARGE! Top customer service, excellent workmanship, great design work. The team at Dulles Kitchen and Bath was truly amazing. We were looking for someone who would be able to help us from start to finish. It seemed that many of the contractors we found were only experts in one area or another. We moved into our home in December of 2017. The house was built in 1992 and the bathroom was carpeted and the toilet was not framed in. There was also a huge Jacuzzi tub typical of that time. Bob is the design man on the team. We explained our desire to have the toilet framed in, for a two person shower and heated tile floor. Within a week we were meeting Bob at the design center where he showed us the drawings he had come up with. Next, we picked out the tile, cabinets etc. We actually were able to select everything in 1 1/2 hours. For the next stage we met with the project manager, Sinan. Sinan was our single point of contact and kept everything moving along smoothly. We started the project in the mid-January and had the project completed by mid-March. I typically like to do my own work, but as the project unfolded I realized that it could take me a year to do the project myself. It required removing the entire bathroom floor, pulling circuits from the basement, a new custom shower floor, and all new plumbing. Nelson and crew were the workers for the project. They too were amazing. Nelson worked with the permit inspectors and made sure everything was done well and to standard. I would definitely use them again. The project stayed very close to on budget with just a few bumps due to some of our changes. If we were to do it over again we would've placed the light switch on the inside of the toilet space and we might've picked a different tub because the tub we picked based on its size is made of fiberglass and I'd prefer porcelain. The one thing I did do was fill the void in the bottom of the tub with insulation to keep the water warmer longer. Lastly, I was unhappy that our water pressure was terrible on the faucets. I procrastinated for months and finally got the nerve to call. Sinan came out the next day, come to find out the aerator was filled with crud possibly from our water heater. It was a simple fix that I could've done myself, yet Sinan didn't complain. This was the one thing keeping me back from giving them this review. We couldn't ask for a better team from start to finish. The project moved quickly (less the five days we went without power from a storm) and stayed on track. The budget strayed very little and they were very easy to work with and resolved our concerns and issues quickly. Communication was excellent.
