When COVID shut everything down in the Spring, Tailored Tutoring switched to offering lessons online and made sure our kids continued to advance their learning despite the headaches and setbacks that remote schooling created for our whole family. This Fall we decided to homeschool due to COVID, and Tailored Tutoring is the only reason we've been able to do that. The kids are doing daily one-on-one sessions with Tailored Tutoring in English/Language Arts, Math, Writing, and Spanish. They're learning more effectively then they did in remote school, they're more engaged, and this has turned out to be way less stressful for me than remote school. The kids love logging on, they love their textbooks and workbooks, they love doing their assignments, and they LOVE their tutors. I love them too because I know my kids are pulling ahead of their peers despite the pandemic and because I know how much the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jones, deeply and genuinely care about each and every kid they serve.

At the end of this past school year, we received the results of our children's standardized test scores and learned that they are functioning well above their individual grade levels. We are routinely told by coaches, other parents, and camp counselors, that our children are so polite and well-spoken. They were both extremely helpful and informative in choosing a major, classes and navigating all aspects of college that can be overwhelming. They also discussed transitioning into college and offered my senior a lot of guidance. Together they both had a lot of knowledge and experience to offer to help my senior make decisions and prepare him for freshman year.

So, here's my story…read more March of 2021, we registered to reserve a spot for our daughter to attend. We let the ladies at Chesterbrook know that we were looking to move, and made sure to verify that our deposit would be refundable should we move out of the area. A few months later, we did wind up moving too far to make Chesterbrook a viable option, and began the process of having our money returned to us. Fast forward to March of 2022, and the quest continues. We have called FOURTEEN TIMES, spoken to a dizzying amount of "Laurens" and even had the one person that was handling our request go on maternity leave. Think about that; the person that was supposed to see to our refund had time to get pregnant, began maternity leave, and our money is still not refunded. I have been told countless times that I will receive a phone call. I usually don't. I have called their parent company, Spring Education Group, who have ALSO ignored my voice messages. You can't leave a voice message at Chesterbrook, as their mailbox is full. We have been patient, polite, understanding and calm through this whole ordeal. The ladies at Chesterbrook are always very nice and respectful when we do get to interact with them, but it's obvious that once they have your money, you're no longer a priority. The school itself seemed pretty old and a bit worn when we took our tour, but because the staff seemed so pleasant, we decided to make sure we reserved a spot. (Another thing they were a hard sell on.....they made sure to impress upon us that we should reserve immediately, or the spots would be gone. Red flag.) If I had known communication would be so rough, I never would have signed up. All I want is my refund. My daughter never set foot in their school, yet they are holding on to almost $500 of my money.

My granddaughter has loved attending for 2 years now and my grandson has been fortunate to attend the toddler program. The staff at BEH are caring, compassionate, empathetic and supportive of both the children and parents. The teachers are dedicated and loving. My daughter has learned her colors, the alphabet, she's even been potty trained with BEH. They teach the children in English and Spanish. I would definitely say I would've enjoyed a little more open class discussions and engagement because i am a visual and hands on learner so hearing Dave speak the entire time was rough certain days because of my attention span but overall he was great, explained things well and threw in some comic relief once in a while which made it cool. We enrolled our 3-year-old son at Sacred Heart with high hopes for a loving, nurturing Christian…read moreenvironment. Sadly, in under six weeks, our experience became extremely stressful and heartbreaking. From the start, we received repeated negative feedback about normal toddler behaviour. One bathroom accident was described to us as "the worst in six years." We were told his removing his shoes in class (normal in our home) was a problem rather than something to be understood. On his first full day, because he didn't nap, we were encouraged to move him to half days. By the end of the month, his teacher suggested he might be "better off returning next year." Shortly after, we were informed that our son was on "strike 5" due to having more bathroom accidents than the school allows. This was devastating especially because he had just undergone umbilical hernia surgery and was on a doctor-prescribed daily laxative, which caused temporary loss of bowel control. Once we realized how serious it had become, we immediately provided doctor's notes and full transparency. Instead of compassion, we felt pressure and judgment. Our son began feeling uncomfortable approaching staff when he needed help, which no child especially at this age should ever feel. We did not choose to withdraw him. We felt pushed out by policies that allowed no grace for a child healing from surgery. The emotional toll on our family was overwhelming. A faith-based school should lead with patience, understanding, and care. Sadly, that was not our experience. I share this so other parents can make an informed decision.
