The Homesense in Manalapan is a disaster waiting to happen with the shelves overpacked with items. It is disorganized with items displayed. You have to be extremely careful when you remove an item from the shelves that other items don't going crashing to the ground. They have nice stuff but they need to display the items in a way that can be easily accessible. I went to the Homesense in Ocean Mall n what a difference in displays. Home Sense has the audacity to ask the question... can a couch be an impulse item and where do aprons festooned with Rachael Ray's now defunct catchphrase "EVOO" go on their last gasp chance at retail. Not just crowded, the place is a mess all but waiting for the tsunami that's about to hit after the earthquake. Manalapan, NJ is hardly poor but you'd never know it the way these affluent hausfraus are scavenging through the debris. I think I'll hide behind the artificial palm until the deeply discounted riot subsides. I just feel sorry for Rachael Ray. Three stars. read more

So I only took a few photos because I didn't plan on checking in and writing a review. However, this is hands down the best Homesense store in NJ and probably the biggest. The store is clean, they have a lot of items that I may not (or may) have seen in other stores BUT they have a larger variety. They have all types of furniture (in and outdoors) that you could imagine from patios, couches, office furniture, rugs, the list goes on. To be honest, sometimes I forget which of the areas have the better stores so I'm writing this review to remind myself that "this" is the better store lol. Plus, it's CLEAN! Overall, highly impressed and would come here again. Fyi: there are also so many other stores in this shopping plaza from "Target" to "Wegmans" , "Homegoods" & "Marshall's". I purchased a bench at the store it was marked special $99 specialty price and The original tag was price 199 was not paying attention when I went to the register when I got at home And saw on the receipt they charge me $199 instead of 99.00 . I call the manager they said come back and we'll take care of it. When I returned back to the store they refused to honor the specialty price. Insinuating that I changed the tag. It felt like the old bait and switch. They lost me as a customer forever! After reading other reviews I am going to bring issue up with New Jersey division of consumer affairs . read more

This is a great store! It has great products, a very great variety for the house, and what seems to be friendly staff. They have great quality everything. Cookware, furniture, mostly everything for the home, and I guess they have everything that's sensible as well. That's why it's called Home Sense, LOL. Although, I don't like that they let customers sit on couches while staying. I was at a Burlington before COVID happened, and they didn't even let customers sit on their furniture. They should fix that! However, overall I did like this store! read more

Homesense is my all time favorite store. My experience, however, at the Manalapan branch has put a nasty taste in my mouth and will never return back. One of the sale associates followed my every step. He was not there to help me because he never asked if I needed help. He followed me through every aisle. I finally turned around and asked him why is he following me. He then left me alone. I couldn't believe the disrespect. Will never ever return to this store. read more

I came in tonight for a few items, I've never been in the store before and as soon as I went in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help. Nick D. was extremely helpful and generous. I asked him for directions to the candle aisle, and instead of just telling me he walked me there and even recommended his favorite scents. His customer service skills were really superb. He made my shopping experience wonderful, and I found everything I was looking for. I will definitely be back soon and I hope he's working. Nick is definitely an asset to this company. read more

I had the worst service and experience in this location today. I went for some tables etc for my clothing retail store. I passed a mirrored round table. It said 5 pieces for $599 or $99 to me it really didn't matter as I absolutely loved it so I asked for a price from 3 people. No one came back except one young girl and she was very kind. I even saw a huge crack in the mirror part of the bottom of the table. I did not care. The girl left and said she had to get the manager for the price and said the table nest to it was $599. The sign was wrong. So the cracked mirror little table had to be $99. At this point I just wanted to buy it - but she wasn't sure. I could not believe that this little table was so cheap I didn't care about the crack. In my store you would never see the crack but they had to confirm with the manager as I said this is a great deal. I called two young boys over and two different times and they also said the manger was busy -/. We waited - she comes out and says well it's cracked anyway and I'm not sure of the price. The tag said $99. It almost like she was accusing me of putting a price tag in it - my friend convinced me to forget the table and shop. Everything I needed was mirrored. I forgot my CC at home so I took $2000 out of the bank before I walked in , ready to get some stuff for my store. So then I find a mirror desk. Perfect for my sunglass display. Another crack. Fine. I wanted it. Ticket said $250. Mark down to $200. You never would have seen the crack but my friend said to call her back ( only two times ) I think she was annoyed as she was such a nasty women. Answer no it's marked down $50 I said ok I'll take it - I did not ask for anything cheaper. My home and my store is top of the line. The cracks never would been seen. So I say take both now with the cracks. Al od the sudden the first table goes up to $250 ? Still absolutely not a problem for me. She change the price tag. - no one would help me. She was nasty and rude. The boys that work there where clueless about everything. This was at 6 pm today. The red head girl was so sweet - the store was completely empty- I had $2000 to spend in mirrored items. Every single Mirror was broke. Tables etc. but still fine. I walked out with purple frying pans. - I'm fuming - I have never written but two reviews on Yelp. This Manager needs a new job and a personality. She was so mean and miserable- if it wasn't for my friend I would have paid anything as I really needed this table and desk. Last year before the pandemic I bought my mom a outside lounge set for her patio. Wonderful experience. I will never walk in this store again. She needs new job - she doesn't even dress for the part. Saw a desk at Homesense with a price tag of $179.99. The desk drawer was cracked inside and a knob was missing. It also had red rub marks on the edge. I had to speak to a man named Mike, who was manager on duty. He said they could only take 10% off, so the price would be $162.00. We agreed to the price and he went to make a ticket. He came back and said the desk was $399.00. He was extremely rude and condescending and would not budge on the price. He said it was mis-marked, and if I wanted to talk to someone else I would have to come back on Monday. While leaving the store we saw the exact same desk with the $179.99 ticket on it! We got him back to see this and he still would not honor the price. Beware of this store. It seemed like a bait and switch tactic. Most of the furniture is damaged. This is a prime example of customer no-service and since this store just opened recently, they should re-train their employees to encourage repeat business. I spend a lot of money at TJX stores and am not sure I want to spend any more, especially at that store.UPDATE_Homesense did the right thing and honored the price. Customer service was very apologetic about the miscue and absolutely made everything right. Am upgrading to 5 stars and will continue to shop there. read more
