I signed up for momentum years ago and that was a big mistake. Supposedly they were going to make sure my roof was sound before installing the panels. They installed the panels, but it does not seem sound. Reviewing my bills, I am not saving any money. I called momentum to discuss the false advertising and their not living up to my expectations, and they weren't able to do anything or say anything of value. I was interested in getting central air, but was told that my solar panels do not generate enough power. I inquired about adding more panels and they said that I will have to start my contact again from the beginning. I don't have to do anything. I had issues with my checking account and opened a new account. Momentum contacted me 2 weeks later to tell me that the payment didn't go through. I changed my account info immediately but had already been charged 25$ for a late fee. I also found out that you only use the power while you are generating it. At night when your solar panels aren't generating power, you will have to pay for electricity from wherever you were getting it before hand. I have a solar bill and a PSE&G bill. I guess they didn't figure out how to store the energy you generated during the day to use at night. What is the point? I am anxiously awaiting my contract with Momentum being over. I would suggest you stay away from this company and use anybody else. read more

Door to door sales person, training someone. Very unprofessional, I have cameras all over my house and could hear conversations I shouldn't. I have a no soliciting sign at the front door, still rang my doorbell and my camera caught the trainee making her aware. She didn't care, proceeded to knock on my door again. When I told her I wasn't interested and to have a good day, she proceeded to push and knock on my door, yes this is all on video. I eventually had to ignore her so she would leave. She said the city of San Diego sent her which is complete nonsense. Made me feel uncomfortable and almost got to the point of calling the police since she wouldn't leave. They set an appointment with me for 730pm. I waited. Nobody ever showed, called, or emailed. The next morning I called and got a bunch of apologies and excuses. I gave them another chance for that day at 430pm. I was told I would get a call an hour before. I called them at 415pm. They state they had been trying to get a hold of me. I asked now did you try because I received no call or email. Their response "oh I thought someone called ". He transferred me to scheduling. They state oh your house doesn't qualify. I'm starting to regret going with this company for solar. My panels were less than a year old and stopped working. I didn't get a notification on the app or from the company, just a huge electric bill. It took them a couple of weeks to come out and look at it and even more time to fix it. Several months later my roof was damaged in the hail storm. I put in a work order to have the panels taken off the roof two to three weeks ago. They were supposed to call and schedule the removal on the 31st. No one called. Now they're saying it will be at least two more weeks until they even return the call. It's delaying the roof installation and becoming a bigger pain than they are even worth. I'm definitely not using them on my next house. read more

Companies like Momentum Solar are a dime a dozen. It seems at least in Florida anyone with a ladder and truck to haul panels can state they're solar experts.What Jason, director of "customer experience" , Laura the billing manager (who is never available when I call), Amelia Diaz, so call supervisor, Ayna Colon, Phil Walford so call project manager and Brian Hursey , salesperson and the numerous people who answer the phone in Momentum fail to understand is that Customer Service is the ONLY thing that would make their company stand out from the rest of the pack. I have reached out to Momentum numerous times since August 24, 2020 because 1 panel was not producing and I was starting to see overage on my TECO(Tampa Electric) bill. My first instinct was to call TECO. I was offered an over the phone energy audit (I had an in person one done in October of last year) and I received in writing an email stating that my solar system was too small. I sent this email along with copies of the bills over to momentum for evaluation on August 28th. After calling and calling, emailing, threatening and screaming, they changed two microinvertors on October 1st. That's right it took them 40 calendar days. I have questioned since day 1 whether or not I had enough panels and Phil Walford assured me that I did. I even offered more bills just to be sure and I was told that wasn't necessary. I felt comfortable with what they told me. I figured that if they didn't try to take advantage of me opening the door to more panels which would translate more money for them then I should be able to trust them to accurately know how many panels I need. It turns out I was wrong. A 7.245 kW, 315w q cells, enphase IQ7, 23 panel system was installed in January 2020. The first bill was not covered and since it was in the middle of a billing cycle, I expected that. In January I reached out to Momentum to change the monitoring to wifi and I again questioned if I will be producing enough electricity to cover my bills and I was assured I will. I also reached out to billing because I questioned the production and I was emailed back stating it would be "prudent"for me to wait for more bills before doing anything. Feb-May the production of the panels barely covered my bills. In between all this, I emailed Phil Walford in March about the production of my panels and expressed concern that I wasn't producing enough and asked what could be done since I was barely covering my bills. He never replied to my emails. June to present the longest and hottest days of the year in Florida and my bills have all had overages that I had to pay to Teco June 184 kWh July 558 kWh Aug 665 kWh Sept 721 kWh Oct 467 kWh When I reached out to Momentum in August I also questioned the production of my panels. Phil Walford explained to me that the figure on my documents that state 7.245 kw means that's the maximum my panels would produce. I have traced back to January and my system hasn't produced anything over 5. I call again on October 2, 2020 and after 18 minutes on Laura finally gets on the phone and tells me that according to the bills, I need a 14,000 kWh system instead of the 11,201 kWh system that I have currently have. She told me that they have submitted the information to the designers of the system to find out what that means for me as far as cost And how many additional panels, etc. Today, I called Momentum again. I spoke to Denita who had me on hold on and off for 39 minutes looking for a supervisor. Jason Director of customer experience was on the phone. Laura in billing is not in. Even Denita's immediate supervisor wasn't available. Denita sensed my frustration and told me that someone would call me back. Denita then calls me back a couple of minutes later to let me know that an email was sent from the department who design the systems stating I would need an additional 8 panels that would produce an additional 3,271 kWh bring me to a total of 14,442 kWh a year. The cost for these additional panels will be $7560.00.The initial purchase was $22,821.00 for 23 panels. Because of the ONE TIME 30% federal rebate offered of $6,846.53 for adding panels I will end up financing $15,975.23 plus interest. Now Momentum wants me to pay an additional $7,560.00? I guess they think I should pay the additional taxes, fees, man power and whatever the hell they tack on for their failure to calculate correctly the first time around. I feel so violated and defeated. In my desperate attempt to educate myself about this company I find an article that states that Momentum Solar was being sued by black employees that claimed to be fired because of their race. As a black Latina I'm wondering if they're trying to take advantage of me. I hate to feel such distrust and mention race but frankly I don't understand their motivation to be irresponsible and their deliberate abuse of their customers. read more

On Tuesday, 11/17/2020, I had Jason with Momentum Solar come by and offer me a quote. Now I was already a little bit biased due to the overwhelming spam calls I would get from Momentum. He quoted me $101 a month for 19 panels and said it would cover 100% of my current electric bill. This sounded amazing but I also decided to take the advice from those on my previous Facebook post regarding shopping around. Shortly after, I spoke with Sam from Wells Solar who was surprised with what Momentum was advising. Based off of my annual kwh usage that was provided by Bluebonnet, 19 panels would actually put me at 70% offset. Momentum had the same copy of my electric bill showing my exact kWh usage yet on my proposal I noticed they had lowered my annual usage to look like higher coverage of my electric bill. When I brought this up to Jason he said "Well it's whatever you want it to be, we can up the system size if you need" which didn't clarify anything. We even looked closer at my contract from Momentum, who kept verbally advising my labor warranty was good for 25 years, but in the actual paper work it stated clearly they only cover labor for 10 years and that is if you notify them within their specified time period (you have 30 days to notify them of a problem, otherwise it is not covered). So of course I was now a little bit frustrated because, had I gone with Momentum, I would be paying the $101 plus an additional 30% to Bluebonnet for my electricity because calculations were not done correctly. On 11/25 I got one a three way call with Jason and Sam. Jason then reached out to me individually stating that they would add 5 solar panels which should then put me at 100% offset for only $5 more on my monthly payment. That sounded pretty grand, but I reached out to who I now consider my Solar Advisor, Sam, who stated 24 panels would actually put me between 90-95% offset, not 100% like Jason had stated. We reviewed the numbers and he had entered in my annual kWh usage incorrectly again. At this point on the call I told Jason that we would need to cancel our contract because the information he was providing did not match his written agreements. Be advised that this all went down on Wednesday 11/25 so imagine my surprise, when I had a knock on my door that Friday morning (11/27), from Momentum's installation company (I believe it was a subcontractor). I advised the crew that we had canceled with Momentum and they left. Thank goodness I was home for the holidays so I could tell them not to install. Within a few minutes, Julius, a manager with Momentum, called me confused about my cancellation. When I informed Julius of my three way call with Jason just two days prior he was very surprised. Apparently he chose not to cancel my project and tried to just come install the panels before I could cancel with the loan company- as all of this was happening on Black Friday and the loan company offices were closed. As a last ditch effort Julius offered to increase my system size to 31 panels at a discount. He told me it would increase my overall loan about $6k but that my term length, interest rate, and payment would all stay the same. This is where I had just had enough- there is no way to increase a loan amount, keep all the same terms, and not have your payment increased. He was flat out lying to me . Sam also advised that it didn't make sense to even have that many solar panels since the buy back is not 1 to 1 in Bluebonnet. When I pointed this out to Julius he stated those are the numbers his finance department gave him so he knows it is correct and that my paperwork would have the breakdown. I advised that after all of this miscommunication, I was going to go with Wells Solar and Julius understood and advised he would email me confirmation of my cancelation and offered to send me a quote for 24 panels ``just in case". I have yet to receive either. I was also told that all my permits have been approved and pulled but that is hard to believe as the process just started on 11/17. I believe Momentum was trying to install before getting any permitting or approval. After I thought this nightmare was over, I had the SAME crew from friday call me at 7:45 this morning (11/30) stating they were on the way to install my panels. I called Francisco back, who seems to be the team lead for installations and informed him again of our cancelation. He seemed a little bothered with Momentum because apparently lack of communication amongst this company seems to be a common trend. In short, Momentum Solar could have seriously impacted my financial stability in a negative way. So for those considering solar, please consider Wells Solar. My husband scheduled an appointment to have Momentum Solar come out and give us an estimate for solar panels. Our appointment was supposed to be at 3 PM, so we planned our Sunday based around our appointment. 3:15 came, 3:30 came no one showed up or called. Finally at 3:45 my husband called to find out what was going on and was informed that the lady who was supposed to come out called out for the day and wasn't coming into work. The lady my husband spoke to said that they can send someone else out but it wouldn't be for another half hour, so that means that we would have been waiting around for an hour and 15 min! We told them no thanks that they just lost any business we would have given them. If my husband hadn't called, we would have never know someone wasn't coming out. First impressions mean everything and this was not a good first impression! The company had our phone number on file and could have called to let us know that they would have to reschedule and we would have been fine with that as we know that life happens and people get sick, But since no one let us know, it is unacceptable! Based on this we will not be using Momentum Solar and will take our business elsewhere! It's a shame we couldn't even make it to the consultation with this company! What a shame! We have friends and neighbors who are also looking to go solar and have told them about this as well, and they have all said they will take their business elsewhere too! I had them install solar on my house in late 2018. DO NOT get solar!!!!! It's a scam and the sales reps lie. Sure you can take the solar with you if you sell your house. This is not the case at all. Rep on the phone explained that our system was designed for our house and it wouldn't work unless our new house had the same roof shape and faced the same direction. Sales rep showed me power bills of customers before and after solar with almost a 99% savings. LIE!!!! My power bill prior to solar was 300-350 depending on the weather. Now my power with solar average over the last 12 months was 190. You might think that it was a savings but you also have to pay the solar bill. Adding those together my monthly payment is around 350. Plus when we sell we will have to pay at least 1/3 of the solar off. That is a required through the financial company. So at closing we will have to write a check for 12k. This Company is a hoax they misrepresented the whole process. Jesse Berg was the representative that came out. Started January 6, 2020, with a time of 45 days to complete, took until July 14, 2020. That is 6 1/2 months. January 2020 should have been completed by middle of February 2020. In the meantime paid electric bill. Come 7/14/2020 get a bill for LEASING Solar Panels. $100.11, so a full month will be $ 200.22. Already close to the amount I was paying Electric company, which also included gas charges. Momentum Solar This is going to be a complete review of the company Momentum Solar. I will be just and honest with the review. At the beginning of the year, we decided to go solar. We contacted Momentum Solar and we made an appointment with Mr. Rodney Williams (Solar Consultant) who gave us a good orientation even though, I did my research beforehand. The system they wanted to install was the Micro Inverters but I decided for the string inverters with the Sunny Boys inverters and having the option of drawing power if the grid goes down. We contracted Momentum Solar for the Solar System installation. The installation crew was amazing and they knew what they were doing. The installation was completed, and we were just waiting for the county to approve the installation, and the electric company to install the NET meter. Everything was approved and Momentum Solar sent two employees to fire up the system. All good, everything running as plan, first bill came in and since then I have been paying only the fees and other charges that the electrical company charge every household. I wrote an email to the Customer Service Department on May 9, 2018 because the contract arrangements have not been fulfilled. They told us that Momentum Solar will be monitoring the system to determine if the system is fully functional or if something was wrong. They also told us that we will be able to monitor the system from the panel and with an app. When the system was completed and fire up, no one explained to me how I was going to read the energy production, how I was going to monitor the system to make sure it was working, and how to get the app that they promise for me to monitor the system. Mrs. Gabrielle Maisto answered the email on May 10, 2018 and she advised me that she was trying to find a solution to my concern. She supposedly referred the email to service manager and she was waiting for him to respond. From that email, I have emailed her on June 10, July 17, and July 18. In the last email Mrs. Maisto asked me for clarification on my address. She wanted to know which address was mine because they had two different addresses with my name, so they could come and activate the system????? Mrs. Maisto, my solar system have been active and functioning since the beginning of the year. I only wrote one address on the contract papers. I am only inquiring or asking for your company Momentum Solar to grant and fulfill the contract arrangements and someone to come and show me how I read and monitor my solar system as your solar consultant Mr. Williams promised. Had my roof done this summer. They were done in one day and cleaned up any mess that was made. I was happy with their service until a few shingles fell off after a wind storm. I called to have them replaced. Customer service sucks. They said they would call back with an appointment. No one called, so I called again. I was given an appointment for a weekday, (I did not have to be home). I came home to find no one had worked on the roof. I called again to find out they rescheduled my appointment to Saturday without any notification. When asked for a time frame, I was told early morning. I called Saturday afternoon enquiring about their arrival since no one had arrived. I was switched to at least four different people and put on hold for five minute intervals. After 20 minutes on the phone I was told they were still scheduled to arrive and may arrive between 9 and 1. This business really needs to work on their customer service end. I was told my mom didn't qualify and had the appointment canceled an hour before the appointment time, but after we had already driven to the property an hour away. This company kept hounding us and bugging us for such a long time and when we finally made an appointment with them they tell us we didn't qualify because of some trees on the property. Maybe they should have noticed those trees that are in the front yard in plain view before they bug people. Update: My mother called their 800 number and the person who answered said he was the call center manager. She asked why the house didn't qualify, and the manager said they weren't sure. He said wait a second I have you in my earpiece let me call the rep on my other phone. We heard the conversation and he ends up reprimanding the rep while we listened. After the manager disconnects with the rep he tells us the rep was terminated because he put we weren't interested on our file. I felt how the manager handled it was unprofessional, but my mom did not so she asked for another rep to come do the pitch. The rep that came was kind and wasn't aggressive with the pitch. Everything sounded really great, estimated savings of $32,000 over 20 years which broke down to savings of $133 per month. Who wouldn't love that! So my mom does the credit check and while she's about to sign the contract I ask the rep to go over the numbers with me. My mom's electricity bill averaged $112 over the last 12 months. How were they going to save us $133 when her bills rarely went past that. The rep kept saying the numbers must be wrong, I know you'll save money with us. He ended up calling someone, I'm assuming his supervisor, and he tells us the savings are based on projections of what our local electricity company (Edison) may change their fees to in the future. Excuse me? You are giving me savings figures based on YOUR projections on what you THINK Edison may change their fees to? Edison charges me $0.11 per kilowatt, and momentum was going to charge me $0.15 per kw. Sure, Edison charges on a tier basis, but when I crunched the numbers it just didn't make sense. Edison increased our rates by 1 cent every year for the last 3 years, and even when taking that into consideration, my mom would barely start saving significant money until year 18 when the contract and rate with momentum would be changing at year 20. Please check your electricity bill and rates folks. I'm sure momentum isn't the only company that does this, but do the math. read more

I signed up for a solar program thru Momentum Solar last December 2019 and up to now still has not turned on. When they installed it the solar panel in January they failed the first electrical inspection that has to be rescheduled and caused delay. Now they are saying that they are waiting for the Electric company to do the inspection and to swap the meter. I've heard this excuse for a few months now. I turned off my solar because i was promised this system will cover my bill and i i have to pay was $10 account fee to the electric company and $30 to $40 on hot months. The most i ever paid for electric without solar was $113 and the stable amount i paid every month was $70 now i pay $55 to $80 on top of solar witch i am for now paying $60 then next year in 2021 i will be paying $80 if you add that up is $135 on low usage. There is no way of telling were the missing production is going. (So no evidence if you are using more electric) only proof you have is that they are conversing you you are using more electric to keep you away from their back. 3. The system is working at 110% and is just you imagining that is not working. Things you dint know before you get solar. 1. They own part of your house when you get solar. So if you sell your house you have to pay them first for the entire system. So if you paid $11,000 + you will have to pay that amount back. 2. There is no electric if power goes out. Trust me I learned the hard way. 3. If you have a leak or roof replacement you have to call them to remove and reinstall the panels,$$$$ that will come out of pocket 4. You will not produce what it was agreed to due to clouds, rain, snow, wild fires and or other natural life situation. I have hard proof there is nothing to hide. How i obtained this poor follow this steps. Want to know how i did it? 1. Wait till you get your bill. So if your service is from 12/7/2020 to 1/9/2021 turn off your solar on the next month on the 2/7/2021 wait till 3/9/2021 or if you have your account online check your service days. Note: Shut your solar off at 12 am on the 7 of the end day ( or witch ever day is your start day of your bill) then turn it back on you solar by the next billing cycle witch it might be ether the 8 or the 9 make sure is at 12 am on the day of your end billing cycle. 2. Turn off your relay switch in you electric panel next there should be a lever or a turn off switch on the box outside of your house. 3. Take a video of your Electric Counter Box record all numbers this should take you about 30 seconds or under. Now look for the first long of number and right it down and keep track of it. Do this once every week till your next cycle. So if you turned it off on the 7 that's day one. Note: That same day around the end of the day 12 am on the 8th take a video and look at your bill and add up your usage. So if your bill says your reading is 12,458 and on your recording the first numbers says (12,470) that means that day you used 12kwh, remember every one is different your usage might be higher or lower. 4. Keep track of your usage make sure to try to use the same amount of electric usage from prior month, if it goes 100 kWh over it will be fine but less is better. 5. Its been a month and your billing cycle is here turn your system back on. Note: if your billing cycle says the 9th turn it back on on the 9th at 12 am. Take a video of your electric counter box match your numbers. How to match? Get your billing reading numbers, if it said 12,458 and on your new video says 13,156 means you used 698 kWh. Means that your new billing will be the same amount you calculated. 6. Compare last month bill to your new bill. So if you used 660 last month and this month you used 698 means you used over 38 kWh. 7. Do the math. If your solar is only giving back to the grid 200 kWh and you are producing 500 kWh were did the 300 kWh went???? No one knows but the solar people knows, you used it... But How????? If my bill without solar is only 38 kWh more then last month how did i used up the extra missing 300 from last month????? How is this story adding up???? I am not using 900 kWh every month so is not adding up.....???? Does this story sounds familiar? My story is that i used 471 kWh with solar on October 2020 and 470 without solar on November 2020. I produced 420 of solar energy on October were did it went?????????????? let me guess the air used it????? i only got credited 206..???? I am missing 214???????????? Absolutely horrible experience. 10 phone calls a day . Actually gave them a shot and had a presentation. Rep became hostile when we were hesitant to sign up on the spot. We were promised a 50 dollar gift card for the consultation. The appointment was back in August and we still have not received anything except for more phone calls to schedule an appointment.
