Initially, I loved Momentum. They started in my area (Metuchen, NJ). Signed the agreement with them in Nov 2019. Project management was aggressive, which is good. They got the design, permitting, and installation done quickly. My 21-panel, 6.6 kW, Hanwha Q-cell array went live Feb 2020 and worked beautifully for years, no problem. It was sized perfectly, producing exactly the right amount of power, so with PSEG net metering, my consumption versus production was nearly perfect. I was thrilled and recommended Momentum to everyone. The problems started in 2024 when I embarked on a remodel that required demolishing the top floor and re-building the roof with a new geometry. Basically, The panels had to be removed/reinstalled on a different roof. I owned the panels; they were paid off by now. I also wanted to purchase more panels for my new power-hungry devices, e.g. replacing gas with electric heat pumps for HVAC. I reached out to Momentum in Mar 2024, ahead of the remodel. Sent the architect's drawings and asked if these could be used to front-load the design of the array on the new roof or get purchasing of new panels going. Signed the agreement to remove/reinstall the panels on 2024-04-08. Was charged $4,634 despite being verbally promised back in 2019 that a one-time reinstallation would be free. The agreement mentioned nothing about redesign or additional panels, despite multiple attempts by me (via email and calls) to convey that information to Momentum. It seemed like everything I sent them went into a black hole, a major red flag against their CRM. This happened repeatedly. I also repeatedly requested Momentum to coordinate directly with the contractor or the architect regarding the new roof (measurements, technical details), but they did not. The panel removal was scheduled for 2024-04-17, well ahead of the demolition of my old roof in June 2024, which is just about the only thing that went well with this project. The techs who showed up were helpful and professional. On 2024-07-06, I followed up because the new roof was projected to be complete around 2024-08-01, so I wanted to schedule an install date. I was disappointed to see that no progress was made on any sales of new panels to me or any design. During the ~3 months since removal, there were zero attempts by Momentum to reach me. I was asked to re-send the same info I previously sent (past 12 months of power bills, drawings, etc.). These same requests would happen at least a couple more times, despite me trying to get ahead of the problem since early 2024. On 2024-11-22, a tech showed up to take measurements of my roof. The tech was awesome and helpful and professional. He reinvigorated my faith in the company. Alas, once again, that info went into a black hole. The project manager -- who, in her defense, tried her best to be helpful -- eventually reached the conclusion that reinstalling existing panels AND adding on new panels was too complicated, so we removed adding new panels out of the scope of the project. It seemed that a new case ID was created for this. At this point, I would have been happy to just get the existing panels energized again. Between Mar 2024 and now, I regularly followed up with Momentum about the status of my project. I was hardly ever given useful, actionable information. As of 2025-08-14 (18 months since sending the drawings, 16 months since signing the contract, 12 months since the new roof was ready to go, and 8-9 months since Momentum measured the new roof), nothing has moved forward. I was promised at least 4 times by various people that someone from the Roofing Department or Design Department would call me directly with a status update. No one ever reached out to me. These departments do not have a customer-facing side, so I get the feeling that someone contacting me was some sort of special request. I paid the final installment on the $4.6K on 2024-10-14. I am now waiting for new design drawings for reinstalling the array. At no point was any ETA provided for this, although I asked repeatedly. For almost 9 months since the measurements, nothing has happened, with no visibility into the status. So, I paid $4.6K for a service that wasn't done, and I'm losing $300/month to power bills. I have no ETA and no faith that anyone will contact me, other than sales, who keep wanting me to refer other customers to them for $500. And sales is the one department who HASN'T been engaged on my project. My panels are still sitting under a tarp in my backyard, producing 0 kWh (see pic). My conclusion is that Momentum is a company staffed by people who are trying to do their best, but the system is set up for them to fail. Looking at their review trends, my read is that something about the company broke in 2021 and their customer-facing employees have no way around it. Their sales tactics are questionable. I was promised installation before end of 2025. Among many documents that I signed online, there was one imbedded in the many that said they could not be held responsible if they did not get it installed. They had to come back even than there have been nails hanging from the gutters etc... i no called customer service several times no response... after 5 years they decided that we didn't pay all the money which is BS because what company ask for money after 5 years. I'm having a similar experience as Sandi. There was a verbal agreement at the time of sale that they would remove/reinstall the panels 1 time for free in the case that I move to another home or need the roof replaced. It was never advised that i was supposed to receive a coupon paper in order to honor it. I never received such paper. I even spoke with the sales person (who know longer works with them) and he to confirmed that Momentum should honor it. They should have record of when they offered this and who would be eligible for it. How does a company like this not keep record of it for their own protection? Seems to me its on purpose so that they can charge for the removal/reinstall if the customer can't present the coupon paper. I'm claiming this because it was promised, i could not make it up. My experience was wonderful install, wonderful roofing that was 2018..We had some hiccups but they came out in 2023 to look at the ceiling for us. Great. Well fast forward to now and guess what panels aren't producing properly even though they said their system said it's working. I'm getting one $400 bill and subsequent $75-80 monthly from con Ed when we were getting 18-25$ per month. Since December 2024 I have tried to get someone out to come on my roof. This week they send someone but he said he's not going on the roof since there is no reason !!! What is going on? Obviously there's a reason why would the bill change so much without changing your KWH? No they didn't want to hear it . I'm fed up .I sent a complaint to BBB and I will be contacting the AG to report this unscrupulous behavior from this company. We paid 14k for our roof and system and now we can't get an answer as to what is going on. Horrible horrible horrible. Poor customer service . Run away stay clear! Worst customer service and workmanship from this company, buyers beware. We had roofing, siding, and s olar panels installed from this company. However, it took almost a year to complete the work and the contractors this company hired, we had to fire the first set of contractors for doing things they should not have. Examples include, removing the old siding we had and selling for a profit; coming to working - high, and getting high while at work; going to the bathroom outside of our property; horse playing on the roof; leaving nails all over the ground. After the work was finally completed from the 2nd contractors they hired left damages to our house - missing window screens, broken patio furniture, and oil stains on our driveway from them parking their van on it and it leaking oil. Finally, we had this work completed a few years prior and they had done some warranty work, but while working on the warranty work cracked the siding and didn't properly fix the leak that's been happening on our roof, so now we have to hire another company to fix the damages this company caused. I would never reommend a company like this. They do not care about their customers and pretty much tell you to screw yourself once you've signed the contract and taken your money. read more

They are con artists. They promised good communication and opportunities to look at all the plans and fine print. After ghosting us for a month after the engineering assessment we figured they decided our house wasn't good for solar. Instead they were pulling permits to start work that we hadn't approved. Now they won't take no as an answer. They try to strong arm you into installation. ***Update*** I wrote to marketing who forwarded on my concerns. The person who reached out to me was the same person were were already having a difficult time working with. He was very selective in listening to our concerns. He addressed one concern while disregarding many others. We have walked away from doing business with Momentum but they are still saying they are going to send us an invoice for the work they have already done (which the original sales rep said we would not be charged for). Additionally, some of the work done to date was not signed off on by us. The sales rep had outlined for us different stages of the project and where our approval would be needed at each step. It's sad, the home looked like a satellite dish sitting on the ground. My salesperson couldn't even look me in my eyes as he left my home. I would stay far from here as they are more than untrustworthy, there's nothing worse than a weak handshake. He calls his co-workers mid consultation for assistance on the slideshow has presenting. I can hear them calling him bro and dude as they pick up his calls, another stature of unprofessionalism that stuck out to me quite clearly. All my salesman cared about was pushing his product giving zero sentimental fuck towards their customer. During the initial sales pitch, the rep did not listen until I firmly asked how many times do I tell you I'm not available this week? The second rep would repeatedly ask a question but not give me an opportunity to answer. Momentum presented to us, and It felt like a real scam. They made up energy cost projections to compare to their deal. They tried to get me to sign an agreement without giving me a copy of the agreement to review. The lowest trick was that they offered a military discount if anyone related to us had been in the military. When we pushed back on signing a deal, they did the old "let me call my manager" routine. Not a Righteous company. I made them around $100,000-$150,000 in sales in one week. 4 months later, they still have not paid me my 1-2 % of commissions. I have tried to contact the sales manager and Human Resources for 2 months now, have yet to receive ONE phone call from HR in return or management. The only way I have made successful contact is by physically going into their office, where I get some excuse that feels like a Lie, common trend in sales, I suppose. Aside from this, the national average of mileage reimbursement is .58 cents, we were not even reimbursed 1/2 of the national average, after taxes maybe a 1/3 rd of the national average. A sales rep and his trainee visited our home for 1-1/2 hours at 8PM. We specifically asked for someone who knew the technical aspects of installing solar - the person they sent knew less than we did. Kept pitching without listening. We asked specific questions and got vague and incorrect answers - and a few outright lies. Kept insisting that we should sign up with him even though the layout his remote designer produced was not feasible. Could not produce a business card, brochure, projections for ROI, or references. At the end of the meeting, he turned off his recording device. What?! He never asked for permission to record our conversation. These people waste your time, don't value your privacy and will say anything to make a sale. Very disappointed with their ethics. I made an appointment to have a consultation scheduled for noon today. The person who I was supposed to meet did not show up. After waiting for half an hour after the scheduled time I called the company to find out where the driver was. I was told that the company discovered that they were not "eligible" to cover my area (Eastern end of Long Island, NY). Why did they not know that at the time they made the appointment? Why did they not call to advise me so that I didn't have to wait around for them? This company does not have it's act together. They'd tell us the parts arrived and then schedule an appointment. Then they don't show up for that appointment. When we call and ask why they didn't show, they tell us the part didn't arrive. He told my husband that if he signed the deal he could cancel in 3 days. We signed because he offered a better deal if we did. Upon further research we found that the offer was highly overpriced compared to other competitors. My husband called the next day to cancel & was on the phone with Jason for over an hour. Thankfully my husband had a hunch to call back the next day & it turns out it wasn't canceled! He spoke to Jason again. Instead of apologizing or explaining why he failed to cancel the contract upon the first request, he tries to upsell! After advising repeatedly that we just want everything canceled, he said he canceled everything. My husband asked for an email for proof & he refused. We called back & this time I told the representative the call was being recorded. All of a sudden everything was canceled & the rep told us that we also need to cancel with the lending company. Something we were never told initially. Jason also sent us a text that our contract was canceled. My husband called the lending company & found out funds were taken! This means that Momentum sent this to the lending company even after my husband canceled! These people are sociopaths! So dishonest. They showed us what kind of people they are.
