Austin's Furniture depot is located on Burnet Road and offers a unique mix of new furniture, statement pieces, and items from local artists. This is not your typical furniture store. Surprisingly, the Austin signs are quite affordable. I asked Shawn one of the store managers, what do folks do with all these signs. He responded by saying the put them in their homes and businesses. One of the eye-catching items in the addition to the signage, are the abstract and unusual artwork covered in shiny glass. I love abstract anything, therefore, I was very intrigued. They also had some individuals featured in the pictures with bold and colorful features. Shawn was friendly, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. Not once did she greet us or even ask if we needed assistance, no customer service. She followed my family around with her arms crossed staring at us disapprovingly. My husband sat his coffee cup down to look at a recipe book he was interested in. She then told him to remove his cup, to which he asked "what would you like me to do with it?". Then she said "oh great now you're taking a picture of a recipe really?". At this point I said "let's just leave" and felt very uncomfortable since she had asked my husband "are you with them?" She made me and my family feel judged and unwelcome racially. I also felt as though she disapproved that I had a baby with me in her shop. I will not be visiting this establishment again or recommending it. I will be sure to let everyone I know about the owners behavior. After this encounter I went to the shops next this place and had a way better experience shopping with the very nice store owners from Mercer St. Art & Boutique, Panache, Vintage Soul, Revel Wilde and Juniper Tree Market.

Friendly staff, this place has a little bit of everything. Boutique baby items, funny cards, lotions and sprays, high end PJ's, dresses/tops (Johnny Was), toy section for that last minute bday gift (Legos, books, other toys) and you don't want to go all the way into Bee Cave or Austin to get it. They also have a whole area in the back if you are in the need of reupholstering your house goods with many different fabrics and textures. We came during Christmas break so they had a seasonal section in the front of the store that was on sale post xmas. Plenty of parking, easy in/out as its right off 290. I am really disappointed in my sofa warranty. I purchased the pet insurance and was told by my…read moresalesperson that they would send a new cushion or make it good as new if it was ruined. That is not the case at all. I just received my "settlement" offer of $500 to keep my sofa as is after spending almost $4,000 on my sofa. There is only damage on one cushion and they will not replace it. It's a leather sofa and no one I have contacted is able to clean it (and certainly not repair it for $500). I feel duped and will never buy another piece of furniture from Joybird.
