Howard transported Dean from Eisenhower to the hospice home. The care was outstanding. My husband was kept extremely comfortable in his short stay there. Betty, their grief counselor has visited me a couple times to see how I was doing. The hospice home was clean, comfortable and quiet, things I wanted to provide my husband in his last days. I had a great deal of peace knowing his heart was happy. My daughter, an Eisenhower nurse knows Tristan and his work, that in itself helped guide me and I did not look at any other facilities. Birdie was able to get us set up in one afternoon... And had a caregiver here at 7 AM the next morning. Sophia worked a 12 hour shift taking care of my brother. And I could see right away that she wasn't just doing a "job"... She was truly caring for my brother. Her work came from her heart. And the same was true for Ryan, who relieved her at 7 PM. Sadly, my brother died around 8:30 that night. Yet Ryan stayed with me, to provide moral support, until the mortuary finally picked up my brother's body. I can't say enough about the quality of care that Right at Home provided... and the quality of people they have hired. I highly recommend them.

My 1st call was to Bertie, she was very understanding and really took the time to listen to our needs. It felt like I was talking to a friend who really cares. Through the years we have only had of couple different care givers, not because of anything specific other than finding the perfect fit for my Mom. That perfect fit is Raina! Raina has been so caring and gentle with my Mom and truly understands her needs. She is very patient and listens. Raina has become a vital part in helping my Mom stay in the home she loves so dearly. I am thankful to Right at Home and the wonderful staff helping our family through this challenging time. I highly recommend, if you are looking for in home care, start at Right at Home.

Choosing a skilled nursing or an assisted living location for your parent is one of the most…read morecrucial and difficult tasks of an adult child as we switch roles taking care of our parents. So this review has a background of research in the desert area in which choices were available and fortunately finances did not get in the way of choices. I have been to the care facilities rated well and those not so well...and there are factors that I learned which are most important making your decision...size, care concern of the staff, administration, activities, actual accomodation, cleanliness, and sound ( you would be surprised how loud some places are due to room placement, thin walls, guests sitting alone in a hallway or inefficient response to call buttons so the place is just bells going off and sadly the lone patient or resident yelling for help.) I have visited the ones with stunning grounds and lobbies only to find the rooms dated and the staff overworked or doing the minimum to keep your loved ones alive. I have seen medical mistakes where fail safe systems failed due to staff not following protocol. So if I have to say one thing to anyone looking for their parent don't be fooled by the whistles and bells, don't be fooled by the fancy exterior or lobbies or a few lounges truly look inside. So now my review...Emeritus has been a consistent oasis for my parents. first my dad in their skilled nursing then my mom in both skilled and assisted living. ( Please note: I made a mistake for three weeks sending my mom elsewhere to another skilled facility in Palm Desert that allegedly had a great reputation with the pretty lobby and grounds etc but it turned out to be a place whose reputation did not match its care level and was more hype.Though the staff had competent members, mistakes were made too many times for comfort) this is to show my review is not solitary I visited numerous facilities while researching a place for my parent(s) Emeritus is clean, a quiet place where your parent or loved one can heal if in skilled nursing, they actually care and learn names, and work to improve your loved ones well being...you never sense the business side only the care side and they make the effort to comfort your parent and your concerns (only complaint which is common in skilled nursing was the food but you don't go there expecting fine dining). Their assisted living is lovely small quaint with activities. The RNs and CNAs are top notch and interact with guests, and know everything that's going on at anytime with all their guests and management is great. Accommodations are clean well thought out and with huge closets ( ok that may not be important to you but when your parent down sizes the ability to keep a lot of their personal clothes and items is very important) food is better ;) I simply can't say enough about this facility it's a little gem. And being across the street from Eisenhower hospital near many doctors is a plus. Now I don't know about other emeritus properties I can only judge this one, so this review is only about Rancho Mirage. So when you begin to look, consider this property for your parent and your piece of mind when you go home just knowing he or she is in safe hands is vital....because in the end that is all that matters.

I was told by three separate nurses that somebody would call me back. They never did. I called the ambulance at 911. I continued to call the entire morning and spoke to Jessijka. She said she would have the vice president call me back that never happened. I spoke to Sandra and she told me she would have people call me back. I said I didn't believe her because I had been trying to call since 615 that morning. She assured me somebody would call me back and they never did. I wound up changing Hospice companies and people that I called and other companies told me that Gentiva used to be a very good Hospice, but they were terrible. Some of the nurses had previously worked there and don't any longer. The nurses such as Richard, Rosebud, Linda and Erik are the very best that they have. But if you can't get them to come out, that is a problem. Leaving a Hospice patient in the lurch, waiting after a fall is terribly negligent. Being told that somebody will call you back and never getting a return phone call is the most unprofessional, uncaring, unkind, and illegal thing. I can imagine that would happen to someone on Hospice. I wouldn't let them take care of my dog. If you're considering this Hospice company, reconsider, and find another what once was is no longer nasty Office staff and equipped company to handle overall Hospice and Care. It's an absolute no for me. Not only this, but nancy the Case Manager suggested numerous times that I find another Hospice company. Absolutely heartbreaking. I sent these Nurses home or away from my house with tinctures drink drinks, food, and all kinds of goodies. It really hurt my feelings and shocked me when Elisa told me that nurses were uncomfortable in my home. I texted everyone of the nurses and they said they did not know what she was talking about to lie or to say things that are untrue unnecessarily and just want to argue with clients terrible Hospice company just say no there's too many that are good. This just happens to not be one of them.
