My best friend Dennis and I found this place when it first opened so he would not worry about his beautiful father Trevitt feeling alone after his wife died in his golden years. He is a charter member. Well I promised my buddy that I would look after his father if any happens to him and unfortunately it did. I have looked after his dad, for 4 great years here, and after his passing of 102, his "girlfriend, Yoshie" who has no family in the United States asked me if I would care for her. The Palms makes it incredibly easy and I agreed. The wonderful people that manages the facility, Robbie, Vikki, as well as Lenny are very caring and responsive to the residents needs. Robbie tells a joke during dinner, reads the menu selections for the day as well as activities. They have a beautiful movie theatre (along with a popcorn and ice cream machine) and Robbie even dances at the sock hop with his wife Vikki. They both have monitors connected to each residence in case of an emergency. Vikki plays the piano, and knows each residence's health requirements, and serves dinner as well. She doesn't just see each person, SHE HEARS THEM. For she truly has a big heart. Stephanie is the "Big Bad" coordinator for entertainment, activities and exercise etc. She runs a "tight ship", works hard to keep everyone busy, happy and strong. She's understanding, but an alert traffic cop and will give tickets if she catches any resident speeding in their scooter or electric walkers! Dawn is the community sales director and always has a beautiful smile for everyone she meets. A breath of fresh air every time that I see her. She makes sure that this place always has a waiting list for people that want to live here. They have also have a private bus that takes them shopping, to doctor appointments, day on the town etc. Oh! I must mention that the meals are included...wonderful breakfasts, dinners and suppers, with a community refrigerator stocked with drinks and sometimes those late night snacks and munchies thought the day. I must give props to the young adults that work so hard in the facility led by Mariah. She knows every resident's name and how they like their salads, juices etc. and remembers special stories about each one. This group not only serve the meals, but they clean each apartment, wash beddings and the hallways are always immaculate because of them. tell me? Where did they find these angels? Executive Chef, Martin, who whips up incredible meals. And if you know a resident, be invited to their special dinners like Easter, Christmas or the like! Simply amazing!! He also makes sure that there are optional dishes each day for those who have discriminating or, allergic issues. These are just a few of the incredible things you will find here at this great place, but all in all, The Palms is a well run, happy, and a friendly new home away from home. Come and check it out! When you enter the home, you see a clean, beautifully decorated living room/dining room that serves as a family welcoming and visiting area for residents. You may encounter tempting smells coming from the kitchen since the caregivers prepare all meals on-site. The kitchen and resident home-style kitchen table dining area and the TV/Great Room area, are the heart of the home where residents can meet to eat their meals and then relax and watch their favorite TV shows or movies. Here the caregivers supervise activities such as card games, adult coloring, Bingo and putting together puzzles. There is a lovely backdoor patio and yard that invites the residents to enjoy some sunshine and visit together outside. There are spots for 6 residents and that gives a ratio of 1 caregiver for every 3 residents which reassured me that my mom's needs would be met and she would be under constant supervision. The caregivers speak English and Spanish and are easy to understand so communication is not a problem. They also take care and pride in their appearance and greet you with a welcoming smile. I can't say enough about the love and care, laughter and fun, and respect and empathy that all the caregivers showed not only to my mom but also to me when I'd visit. Birdie was able to get us set up in one afternoon... And had a caregiver here at 7 AM the next morning. Sophia worked a 12 hour shift taking care of my brother. And I could see right away that she wasn't just doing a "job"... She was truly caring for my brother. Her work came from her heart. And the same was true for Ryan, who relieved her at 7 PM. Sadly, my brother died around 8:30 that night. Yet Ryan stayed with me, to provide moral support, until the mortuary finally picked up my brother's body. He deserves far better care that what this place "CLAIMS" they offer. There are no call buttons for any of the residents to notify staff when they need assistance. Ken (the owner) has a revolving door of staff members in this place that it is even difficult for me to keep up with who they are. Ken promised many things when we first moved in but I had to keep on him to meet his promises. Although there was one area (a request for a call button) which was promised and as of our move out they still had not received them. I think Ken will say anything just to keep you there and he can continue ripping you off. We were told that a staff member would attend all doctors' appointments. That's a joke; on one occasion they never showed up much less notified me that they would not me attending. When they did and the doctor asked questions, they were not at all prepared. They could not answer the questions that the doctor asked. The living quarters are a joke too......there are no handle bars in the bathrooms for people with handicaps and the toilet are not even ADA approved and there are no shower wands in the shower stalls for people who cannot stand up for long periods of time. The food was so awful that I was bringing food in for my husband to eat. When he did not want to eat frozen pizzas he would drink protein shakes that I provided for him as a supplement to a meal. They dropped a curtain rod on my husband's head and did not think to notify me of this incident. One resident (housed in another building) walked into my husband's room one night and got in bed with him, again I was not notified of this incident. Since that incident, I husband was afraid to sleep in his bed.....he would sleep in his recliner instead. The night staff is another joke. They only have two people and they don't have keys to the medication closet in the event that a resident needs PNR medication in the middle of the night. Some of my husband's personal items were removed without permission from his room. If you are looking at this place for a loved, please run away as fast as you can. You will thank me later.

They don't train there staff right. They hardly ever have any staff working at night but two people. They had brake ins and robberies here from people come into the property. The owner cares nothing about the staffs safety here, he only wants to make money that's why he goes thru so many employees in a month. The food is terrible here they don't feed the residents good enough. Very sad situation to be in and to work in all around. Poorly ran. Would recommend putting your loved one in a better place!!!
