It has a really nice playground and play area for kids and a lot of nice greenery. It's not the biggest park, but it's really nice for what it is. There is a good number of different covered areas that can be used for picnics as well as a large baseball field. There is also a gazebo that can be rented for parties and other gatherings. Recently the park added a huge recreation center that contains a full size basketball court complete with retractable bleachers. This was built in order to encourage kids in Gretna and surrounding areas to play sports and stay involved in their community. There is also a huge meeting space that can be rented for different events or meetings.

He allowed us to come in the day prior to set-up some of the items we brought in for the event. We hosted both the wedding ceremony and the reception there. We had the option for either an indoor or outdoor ceremony. The venue was very clean and spacious. They offer a variety of food options mostly buffet style with an open bar with some great beverage options. Both were outstanding!! The staff was very professional and patient. On a chaotic day you want a vendor/venue to help everything flow smoothly. The venue offers a room for the bride and bride-maids an other room for the groom and groomsmen.

I want to start by saying how excited I am for the development of the entire Oretha Castle Haley corridor. I think in a year it is going to be one of the hottest areas in the city. It took me a few minutes to actually find this place at first. My good ol' GPS just led me to the 1400 block of OCH and left me to find the actual building on my own. Just a note: it's on a corner and I took a picture of the door, so that you can be on the lookout. The venue itself is lovely. It's a wide open space with a nice bar and plenty of seating. There is gorgeous art on the wall and I like that there is a lot of space to move around. Big selling point: the air conditioning here works like a champ. A lot of times you get into these old buildings, and the ac can't keep up with the space, but that was not the case here. Plenty of windows let in the light during the day, which I am always a fan of; I hate going to dark event spaces during the day and feeling like I'm in a dungeon. There is a stage area where students for Big Class read poems. I presume that other performances take place on the stage as well. There are even some sofas for comfy seating as you enjoy whatever is happening on stage or just mingling with friends. I didn't get to explore it, but there's an upstairs area as well. It should be noted that the building is located on an extremely well lit block, so if you attend an event here at night you should feel pretty safe. A deposit was paid months in advance with the balance due 2 weeks before the event. We called and wrote them constantly and got no response. Finally we finally got an answer 1 month before the event and spoke to the owners son or relative. Due to COVID we were told by the owners son that we could only have 25 guests, he also told us to wait until closer to see if we still wanted to have the event. More time passed and we contacted them again to say were going to cancel and get our deposit back. This time we spoke to the owner and she was refusing to give us any money back stating they could not refund us because we waited until 2 weeks before to cancel. We explained they have not been answering (a google number) and we spoke to her son and gave her the information that was communicated to us. She bluntly said "I told my son not to tell anyone we could refund them" that was not our fault nor our concern. I explained to her that that is a conversation between them and the agreement was a verbal one and she should honor it. She was supposed to call us back to reach an agreement and we did not hear anything until the week of the event. She said she will not refund us because she will be losing money. I urge you if you value your hard earned money and time this is NOT the venue for you. I support black owned businesses all the time but is one I will NEVER recommend anyone, not even my worse enemy.
