This place is wonderful, very nice and CLEAN. We had booked another hotel and when we arrived, it was horrifying we immediately started looking and calling around for a hotel, found this hidden gem by accident, but I will definitely be back. The nice lady at the front desk was extremely helpful. She got us all booked in told us about everything. There's a continental breakfast. We were going on a cruise. We paid to park there at the hotel and they even provided transportation to the cruise port. Everyone that we run into was extremely nice. The pool area is beautiful, very relaxing peaceful. It's a must see . We will be back soon this will be my go to spot when cruising out of New Orleans. read more

Don't stay here our air conditioner broke and we went to stay at Best Western Plus Westbank in Harvey so we could get out the heat and enjoy the pool the 1st day was great the 2nd day was a nightmare they had no security and no pool wristbands people were slipping in the side doors eating hugh bags of seafood not washing their hands changing in the pool bathroom we. asked them to wash their hands before going into the pool and they said where do we do that, that was the first clue they weren't paying guests they we're bringing babies with diapers in the pool their kids were splashing water on one woman and she turned and yelled at my husband not to splash her hair and it was her own kids doing this we decided to stay a 3rd day to wash out the bad taste not knowing that the pool was going to be closed for 7 hours bc it was so filthy then it happened 2 more times people sneaking in to the pool that weren't paying guest still no security they were so rough moms took their kids out of the pool later on it happened again mom's bringing lil kids with diapers again in the pool smoking weed in the breezeway the hot tub looked like hot lemon aid by the time the left my husband hurt his leg badly from the unlighted dips and so did another woman this place is not safe for women & kids or families in general we told them about the key card not opening the outside doors with our key cards the homless people are everywhere & obscene the front desk we're great especially Wayne and Kim maint were good but they are not security this same thing happened last year with people that were not paying guest sneaking in the pool we could have just bought a air conditioner with the $$ we spent and saved us this disgusting experience there is no excuse for not having security or wristbands Shame on Best Western for the poor quality of security no one deserves to be treated this way apparently this has been going on for more than two years bc some of the workers told us it's a straight up health hazard and reflects badly on the people who really do work hard at this hotel Remember! We stayed here while on a road trip across the country. When I checked in the lady at the desk was fairly welcoming. I noticed the decor of the lobby was old early 80's style, but I chalked it up to New Orleans "character". While walking to our room I noticed how horridly hot the hallways were. Hotter than the 95+ degree temps outside. Our room had a slight musty smell, liked they had had a spill that didn't get cleaned up properly. The door to the bathroom didn't close all the way, and wouldn't even latch so there is no way to lock it. We did laundry while we were there and noticed a rotten smell in the trash. But the worst of all is the attitude toward the guests by the hotel policies in general. For instance, my husband went to go ask where the towels for the pool were. They lady in the lobby refused to help him because he was in swim trunks. Said she would get fired if she helped him and literally started backing away! Apparently there are "blue" towels that are supposed to be in your room, which they were not. Need a clean towel at night? Tough! According to Wayne, the night shift desk clerk they only hand out towels between 8am-6pm and he had no way to get us one. "We're not a full service hotel and that's why our rates are cheaper," is what we were told. When we did get a towel the next day they made me SIGN that I was getting one. What? They made our kids wear wristbands while at the pool. Sorry guys I don't think people are trying to break in to swim at the best western pool. There was a loud group in the hallway around 1:30 in the morning and woke us up. The breakfast is ok, but if you want eggs or bacon they have an employee who must get your food for you. One morning the line was 10 people long. Also there is a sign that says not to take your food back to your room. Why not? Breakfast ends promptly at 9:30. Not done? Too bad! The lady locks the door anyway and you have to ask to be let out. Is that even legal? Definitely a fire hazard! I told the lady in the breakfast room I didn't think it was right to lock the guests in the room and her only reply was "sorry!" When I complained about this to the lady at the desk she looked at me like she didn't care. Thankfully a housekeeper overheard our conversation and verified that this is accurate. No joke all of this is 100% true! I've stayed at MANY hotels in my life but have never experienced such a terrible attitude toward guests in general!! We were there for 3 nights and in hindsight I wish we would've checked out after the 1st night and found someplace else!! read more

Please don't leave anything in your room. Check under the bed and all the drawers. i left a souvenir I bought from the WWII museum and they said they didn't have it. That most likely it got thrown away. They didn't even apologize. It was difficult to even to get to talk to someone at the front desk and of course they never called me back. I called their management and they of course never called. I will never stay in this place again. It meant a lot to me to go to the museum and to have anything that belongs to you thrown in the trash is disgusting. read more

We have been coming to this hotel for the last three years and I have nothing bad to say about them the bartender Roxanne who is there from 4 PM till 10 PM is always happy to see me and there's always bubbly and not afraid to strike a conversation. Also the front desk always takes care of my needs whether it be a fax or For letting us park our dock truck there for a few days while we go work. I asked where to eat, party & drink and they lead me in right direction. Enjoyed the hot tub never made it to the bar. They give out a coupon for the bar in middle of courtyard. They have washer and dryer. Their about a 15 minute drive from bourbon. Around the corner from Walmart. Great location. read more

I found the room clean and comfortable. The hotel was nice and we enjoyed the bar that was right in the courtyard of the hotel. The hotel staff was pleasant. However, the first night there, I was slightly concerned because there were 10-15 young adults/teenagers hanging out by the side door and propping it open. Everything was fine, but it could have been a security issue. Overall the area around the hotel was fine. It is not a bad drive to New Orleans. As were there for a wedding it was close to the venue. Worst hotel I've ever been to. When we checked in our room smelled like mold and we reported the issue to the lobby but the only thing they did was send someone to spray febreeze which only made the scent worse. When we came back our room still smelled like mold and the scent was very strong so we called the lobby and the woman on the phone named Jenny was careless and very unprofessional so we went to the lobby to speak to someone in person and Jenny was hiding behind the counter giggling as if it was funny that she wouldn't do anything about leaving customers with asthma in a mold infested room. read more

This hotel was great! I was in town for a week on business and it is a beautiful hotel. Pool and hot tub were great. Bed was comfy. I came back a few hours after checking out because i forgot an item in the room and the front desk clerk was very nice and made me a key to go check. The room had already been cleaned, so I asked the nearby cleaning staff and she took me downstairs and retrieved my item. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The connected restaurant (Fire Food and Spirits) is decent as well. The food was okay and the drinks were good. Definitely staying here next time I'm in town. read more

Not our first time to this Best Western but it will be our last. Arrived at 9:30pm after a very long day of traveling. We were very ready to get cleaned up and relax. So...off came the clothes, tied the hair up and turned on the water. WRONG! No water in the shower, in the sink, nor the toilet. Went to the Concierge only to learn that a water main had been cut. Repair would be in an undetermined amount of time. We were offered 2 bottles of water! Since you can't bathe with a bottle of water, we elected to check out. Do you believe they charged us for 1/2 day stay? In the process we found a much newer, nicer, quieter hotel down the road. My question: why did they allow us to check in without telling us about this major inconvenience? Was it so they could at least get paid for a 1/2 day?Sounds like poor management to me. I booked and paid for my room 3 months in advance, a room with 2 queen sized beds, non smoking. I get there to check in and I was told they did not have any rooms to those specifications left. I said yes, you do, I've already paid for it and showed the confirmation email. A manager was called who didn't even speak to me, just points to the computer and tells the clerk to put us in a room. Open the door, it's 2 standard sized beds. I go back to the front desk and they call the manager and he doesn't apologize, puts us in another room - we had to get to packet pickup for a race we were doing the next day, all I checked was that the beds were queen sized. The next morning when I woke up with a sore throat, I realized I was in a smoking room. A quick check of the door and verifying with a housekeeper comfirmed this. There is a reason someone does not choose a smoking room - I get headaches and sore throats. As a result, we went home early and my attempts to contact a manager have gone unanswered. I even contacted corporate. At the very least I should have been refunded the night I did not stay. I will never stay at a Best Western again and will make sure to post this review in all the marathon groups for Rock N Roll marathon since I know a lot of people planning to stay on the area. I originally planned to book at this hotel, boy am I glad I waited. read more

I've run into occasional problems with broken plumbing fixtures or non-functioning equipment in the rooms, but the staff is quick to help out. My chief complaints, although no fault of the hotel or its staff, would be noisy patrons and limited parking. By far the nicest hotel I've seen in NOLA area that isn't downtown. In a very safe area with lots of shops, walmart and target are right up the road. Just a short drive to downtown. So where shall I Begin Had reservations for this hotel a year in advance for our girls annual trip. Called one week before check-in to confirm my reservation. The day I am scheduled to check-in, receive a phone call that my room had been cancelled due to non valid credit card on file. I cannot answer the phone, due to the fact I am flying in to Louisiana. I get to Louisiana airport call in to the Hotel and get the rudest front desk person ever, who was no help and said well there is nothing we can do for you. I stated you had no right to cancel my reservation without informing me, and I had until 5 p.m today to check in. Well long story short, will never, ever did I say never ever stay, recommend this Best Western to any friend, family or worst enemy. But I would recommend the Holiday Inn around the corner on Manhattan street. The ladies at that Hotel made our first Mardi Gra trip a great experience. I travel extensively and have stayed at 5 star resorts and economy motels, this place is a great value. Most rooms face a lovely courtyard with a pool and spa. The Courtyard Bar is definitely not the hot spot for the region, but the staff is friendly and each night there is a happy hour with a complimentary food offering. The rooms are clean and have recently been updated. There is a complimentary hot breakfast included with the room. Breakfasts include everything you can want and is maintained by an adequate number of staffers so that you don't have to wait. The hotel is just a short drive into New Orleans and is located in an area with a lot of restaurants and bars. I recently spent 10 nights here, and except for my neighbors who went in and out of their room slamming the door all night long, I don't have a single complaint. This is my 3rd stay at this hotel and each time has been so great that I decided to write a review this time. Check in was a breeze! Arrived at this hotel around 4pm and walked into the front lobby, was greeted warmly and enthusiastically, let them know my name, showed ID and credit card and 3 minutes later I was on my way to our room. The room was super clean, smelled great, everything in order and the AC was already turned on which was a great relief in this Louisiana heatwave! Room has a nice-sized mini fridge, ironing board, iron, 40ish inch flat screen tv, hair dryer, microwave and even a Keurig. Beds are comfortable, love their pillows. Water pressure is perfection and stays nice and hot for a good long while. Courtyard area is beautiful and really adds character to this Best Western. Parking is plentiful. Breakfast is a plus with a good selection of link and patty sausages, sliced ham, scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits & gravy as well as your usual continental breakfast items like muffins and pastries. It is located off Manhattan Blvd and any store you can think off is on this strip (Walmart, CVS, Target, Ross,etc). Plenty of good eats to choose from as well. I highly recommend New Orleans Food and Spirits just a few blocks down Lapalco- chargrilled oysters-yumm! The US 90 ramp to get to the French Quarter is only minutes away and is very easy to navigate to downtown. I will continue to make this hotel my fav place to stay when visiting NOLA. read more

This hotel is one of the best I have been to during my travels. The staff will make you feel like family. Speaking of family, I love that the hotel is a family owned and operated business. Every one from the owners down to the desk are all one big happy family. There is so much rich history on every wall, in every case, and along every step. The court yard and pool area is a little slice of paradise. They are also the most veteran friendly hotel I have ever stayed at. I have never felt more at home or appreciated as veteran than I do here. The recently just added a Buffet/ restaurant that is to die for. Prob one of the better Best Westerns that I've stayed at. The beds are extremely comfortable, but the rooms smell weird. (at least in the room I was in.) The only issue I had was that the hotel staff Nancy is extremely rude. Not only was Nancy rude to me over the phone (when they lost my reservation), but I overheard her being rude to other guests as well. One guest lost their room key and she made two and with an attitude loudly said, "here are two keys, give one to your roommate so we don't have to have this issue again"... My thoughts were... Ma'am I don't give a flying f**k, if I lost my room key every night... Do YOUR JOB and give me another one, and another one, and another one without the smart and sarcastic remarks. The breakfast situation was weird. They wouldn't let me take my food to my fiancé in the room. I told the lady she wasn't feeling well... And she shrugged her shoulders. 2 week stay for business/school. I enjoyed every moment here in my temporary home. It is wonderful homely/resort feeling with courtyard view equipped with a bar, pool, and jacuzzi. The breakfast was phenomenonal (i love the pancake machine). The exercise room was ok. I did not enjoy breathing the paint smell from the newly painted door, that was still wet by the way, as I ran on the treadmill. the staff was friendly, awesome, and knowledgable. Through the staff, I was able to find great restuarants, get an awesome taxi can driver, find a hair dresser and just have a pleasant conversation. The complementary fresh baked cookies was a sweet retreat after a long day in class. I always enjoyed coming back to my clean room stocked with fresh towels everyday. It not too far away from downtown, which is perfect if you don't want to be around the nightlife the whole time. The only things i did not like were the unwelcome wake-up calls of either the pool being occupied in the morning before pool hours and some of the MEPS teenagers looking for a thrill. read more

I can't believe I actually said "more to come" and there was actually a lot more. Saturday night by the pool an unidentified security officer charged at us yelling and screaming saying that we only have two choices either turn the music off or basically be confined to our rooms or leave the hotel. As a professional I attempted to speak to him respectfully and descalade. No matter how polite, understanding and respectful I was he continued the verbal assault. It was like if we was in jail an undeserving of simple respect when speaking. For a first time communication on a "noise complaint" he treated us as if it was the 10th complaint, I've never been yelled at like that before by anyone, especially someone representing a hotel. I was truly embarrassed. I hate to say it but this was the one time I truly felt like I was spoken to like a Ni**er with the "you ain't not shit fuck you" attitude. I sent an email and video to the GM, she reply thank you for the compliments also stating that we will basically show him other ways to talk to guest. Your security officer just spoke to a group of 10 people like they were crap literally nothing worthy of respect and that's all you have to say. Sad, I likely would never stay here again with the results of my complaint because clearly they really don't care. read more

Where do I begin? I was a trip leader for a conference in the area. We had 18 rooms reserved at this hotel. Barry in group sales was phenomenal to work with. We were given a great rate for our stay. They were very organized and check in was a breeze. They took great care of our group by having breakfast ready for us in the mornings and we even had a meal catered in one night for dinner through them. Breakfast was phenomenal every morning with many hot options, cold options, etc. (As good as I've seen at any hotel). The rooms were clean and well appointed with great A/C, tv's, fridges, and microwaves. Couldn't ask for any better. The location is fanatic. Only about 6 miles to the heart of New Orleans. For the price, free breakfast, free parking, free WiFi, and awesome amenities, I don't know why more people don't stay here. A true gem. The restaurant in the front of the hotel is modern, clean, and super nice too. The manager called me personally on my cell phone to ensure our satisfaction. I have stayed with groups all over the United States including 5 start hotels and I would take this Best Western right with any of them. Kudos to everyone! read more

I can agree with the people and say that the rooms were nice and clean. The cleaning staff isnt the problem. The problem is when your spring break turns into a nightmare dealing with Wayne Hartman, the auditor who I have on videotape being very rude with me, ignoring me as if I dont exist. He took care of any and every customer that walked through to check in before me, although I was the first one standing waiting to be served. The officer had to rudely interrupt him and tell him to service me because I had been waiting a long time and he was avoiding me. To top it off, he didnt want to properly check me out with the necessary paperwork. He tried hard to insult my intelligence. All of this started after I attempted to defend the false allegations against my family and I claiming to sang "happy birthday" too loud at 10pm inside of our room. All I heard was anonymous phonecalls calling and hanging up in the room. Knocks on the door and when you open it, noone was there. I dont know what kind of "hate crew" was there trying to mess up our night, but within 15 min. after all of these strange things, the auditor called claiming complaints about my family, while 5 minutes later sending the rude security officer (who did not wear a name badge and refused to disclose his name to me) to my room. This security officer offended my privacy when he poked his head against my shoulder to peek in my room. He had the nerve to question me about the refreshments we had to eat and the confetti we had on the floor, labeling my kids as noisy, etc. because they were sharing in a family laugh. Since when do families vacation at hotels have to keep silence to hear the crickets? I traveled all the way from Missouri City, TX for this horrible night of false accusations within a 15 minute time span! WOW! I have been so distraught about this ever since that night. This was a special weekend for us because my mother died when I was the age of 12. My daughter's 13th birthday was a landmark celebration! To be kicked out, still in wet clothes from the jacuzzi was heartbreaking!! Even more heartbreaking was that they didnt even listen to nothing I had to say, which made me get upset and began to cry. For my children, I had to contain myself and temporarily brush it off! I felt defeated on dry and false terms because I did nothing wrong and also had my money taken away from me and we didnt even stay there! They refused to refund me! I took pictures of how we left the room and I also have a video of how I was rudely treated by the auditor! To top it off, I phoned the hotel owner and he answered with such unprofessionalism (as if I was his best friend from school who he shot hookey with), laughed at my opinions of being discriminated saying that everyone who files a complaint with him always want to lean to discrimination. He was not being a help to me at all. I am used to high quality customer service like the Marriott, Hilton and whenever my co-workers and family get together, even the Ritz Carlton. I have never in my life experienced such de-valueable customer service in my life! The Best Western can forget about me ever coming back! I am now talking to therapists, counselors because of this with my family! We are torn and my kids dont understand why did we have to be escorted by a police and we did nothing wrong! Shame on the owner, auditor and security!! My heart hurts from this! To be continued...... read more
