HomeCraft Gutter Protection uses high-pressure sales tactics. For my daughter's home with 74 feet of 5" gutter and 48 feet of downspouts, they quoted $5,000 to clean the gutters and downspouts and add gutter guards. When they got a hard no, the price started to drop. It got as low as $2,900 but when my daughter mentioned she could just replace her gutters and downspouts for way less, the salesgirl Makayla made a call to her boss, and now they would replace the gutters and downspouts (which only carry a 1 yr warranty) and add gutter guards for the total price of $2,800, and she could even pay that in monthly payments of $77. When still hesitant to sign, she is told the offer must be taken then, or the price would go up, but there was nothing to lose because you don't pay until the work is done and you have 72 hours to cancel the contract. She signed the contract but did not make an appointment for the work to start because she was still uncertain yet wanted to retain the lowest price they offered. We researched the company further, and less than 2 hours later my daughter called to cancel the contract. Anna, a project manager at HomeCraft, was very nice and understanding and canceled the contract immediately and then suggested my daughter call Greensky Installment, the finance company to make sure they canceled the financing as well. WHAT??? Financing wasn't requested, or needed--monthly payments were just offered. My daughter called Greensky immediately, only to find out that HomeCraft had requested Greensky to run a hard check on my daughter's credit or a $10K loan! That is fraudulent! Greenway is now trying to resolve the issue with Experian to remove any marks against my daughter's credit score for running that credit check. She would NEVER have agreed to a credit check as she is diligent and very careful with her credit score. We both tried calling the Homecraft salesgirl Makayla, using the number she had given to my daughter, but it just rang and was never answered. The second time I called, letting it ring until it finally went busy, I received a text that said: "I'll call you back." So far I have not gotten that callback.
HomeCraft has a 4.5-star rating on Google and Home Advisors because they give you 5% off the price if you write them a favorable review during their sales pitch. If you read the reviews, you will see the majority of favorable reviews are written before the consumer received any product or work, and all the negative reviews were workmanship or product-related. On Yelp, they only have 2 stars, and there are 55 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau of which 13 have been resolved.
I suggest you think twice before dealing with this company. read more
