This actually a very good place with reasonable prices so I'm probably going to sound nitpicky but that is my job. My wife thought her over-easy eggs were a little too soft and the coffee too bitter to drink without cream. She loved the toast and the berry jam was super good. I had the salmon omelet. If I ever have it again I'll ask them to leave the feta cheese out. There were relatively large pockets of feta and the flavor just clashed with the overall taste. I was going to leave most of the fried sweet potatoes because I'm trying to cut down on carbs but they were so tasty I ate every last one! The toast was good, but I prefer grain bread. I did manage to leave one triangle of bread behind just so I could tell myself I cut out some carbs. The table they set us at was super wobbly. There just isn't any excuse for that. It would probably take less than 5 minutes to flip the table over at the end off the day and adjust the legs and it probably wouldn't ever be wobbly again. Since it was my birthday I ordered, with a lot of encouragement from my wife a slice of carrot cake to go. That was a mistake! I loved the first bite and thought I was in for a real treat but the texture of the cake was more like cornbread and lacked the depth of flavor that even the cheapest carrot cake I've eaten has had. read more

There is a new farm to table style restaurant in St. Michael - and no, it's not Main Street Farmer. Home Grown has opened their beautiful space in downtown St. Michael. I absolutely love the building and the decor inside. It has a contemporary farmhouse feel with lots blacks and whites. The space is small but open with tall ceilings making it feel much larger than it is. There are also two garage doors that will open in the summer to create an indoor/outdoor space that will be awesome. The bar has a bit of a coffee shop vibe to it and seats only a handful of people. For this visit our party of 9 stopped in for just a few drinks and desserts before closing. I felt bad for such a large party coming in late but the way staff was super awesome and friendly and didn't seem to mind. Or didn't show any frustration to us anyway. Which I thought was very kind and professional. We all enjoyed our drinks and desserts, leaving each of us to say that we couldn't wait to come back and try out the actual menu. read more

I am so sad. Had my first meal here tonight and the waitress told us about the changes. The chefs' that you have along with the menu is utterly amazing. My meal was so good, I am still blown away by it. I am from the West Coast (Portland, OR) and have been unable to find the same quality of food as we had there. Or the menu choices as your menu. I am disappointed in this change because your menu caters to those of us who have to be dairy free due to allergies. Your waitress and chef was able to accommodate me. Looking at menus for Brick and Bourbon there is not many choices for a dairy free meal. Understand about stepping back because of family, but honestly you really have a good thing going at Home Grown. I wish you luck and wish I had known about this place sooner. Best flat bread pizza I've ever had and I've had a ton of flat bread - super great. Nice seating outside and Saint Michael needed this place. As a former server I'd work here in a heartbeat because it's just that amazing... date night kinda vibe I saw they had live music one day too. Another new place in St Michaels, who knew! Farm-to-Table you say, Tapas you say...I'm thinking they choose buzz words, not actual Tapas stuff, I question farm-to-table? Very nice space, high ceilings so the noise isn't much...I will say great staff who all seem to be happy to be working here. Now I have to question both the tapas idea and the farm-to-table. There is really nothing tapas style on the menu...No small shareable things, well Brussel sprouts..Flat bread, tacos? Farm-to-Table, shrimp, salmon??? This is MN, if you are looking for FtT fish you might buy things caught locally ! I tried the Flat Bread, which I am not a fan of...you can make these things fresh, tasty, good use of flavors and such but everyone does them half-ass! This was half-ass. Par-cooked crust with dry goods on top, makes for a dry and hard to eat cracker like thing! Here is a tip, for a Mediterranean flat bread...put something of a paste on it! The heat will break it down, it will soak into the top of the dry crust and add to the appeal of the dish! Should be very basic, should be...culinary 101 stuff! I had to get olive oil to drizzle on it, which is a no-brainer for something Mediterranean ...a little sea salt, something! It literally had no moisture to the dish at all... I will go back and try the Farm-to-table shrimp tacos, love me a good shrimp taco...only reason I didn't order it was the pineapple salsa, not a huge fan of that sweet of a flavor on a taco...that's just me... We need more places like this out in the sticks, I just wish they would be a little more creative with menu items! We both stopped here early on a Saturday morning. Was kinda slow but picked up quick after 9.The service really good and attentive. The place does have tall ceilings and a bit of a coffee house vibe by the bar. The brunch menu was ok- i think it could use some adjustment. Berning scramble has sausage gravy but there is not biscuits and gravy which steered me away from ordering that thinking if the gravy was any good they would have biscuts and gravy as another menu item or at least a "side" order of gravy. Regardless the menu had healthy options as expected. We both ordered safe with the breakfast sammy. it was darn good. the red potatoes could've used a little more cooking and the sweet potatoes were solid- both had rosemary which added a nice flavor. Overall we would go again probably to try lunch but for our palette not a place we would rush back to again. read more

We have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed it both times. I had the pork sliders the first time and they were very good. The second time I had the flat iron steak and it was cooked perfectly. The restaurant is beautiful also and I would say they are still staffing up as service could be more attentive but overall was good. Definitely plan on going back. read more

So excited to support a new local restaurant, however, it was not a great experience. First impression...the water glass were dirty; major water spots and dusty. I watch the bartender struggle to make our cocktails. He was looking at the recipe and pacing back and forth trying to find ingredients, he made me so anxious (being a bartender in my past). I went with a two-star rating as the flatbreads my wife and daughter had were good from what they said. The curb appeal is very nice and the inside was clean and inviting. I am also cutting them a little slack as it is a new restaurant and there are bound to be some bumps along the way. The negative for me comes on two fronts. I order an Old Fashioned. The amount of drink you get for the price was extremely disappointing. You get twice the amount of alcohol for a comparable price at any of area restaurants. I told the waitress how disappointed I was in the first, but thought i would order another to see if there was a difference. Unfortunately, there wasn't. I ordered the combo taco entre. The shrimp was way overcooked, the chicken was both non-existent and cold, and the steak was decent. I was unable to finish the shrimp and "chicken" tacos. Again, I know it is a start-up and we will probably stop in again to check it out sometime down the road. However, there are sooooo many superior dining locations within 15 miles of St. Michael, it is hard to justify $100+ on dinner and drinks for subpar products. We stopped this weekend for lunch. Nice location. It took a while for a server to come over to the table. I ordered an Arnold Palmer which took a while to come. Over priced more ice than drink. We commented on the dirty glasses and the ask for plastic glasses for water. The sever didn't care. Finally took are order while the food was good it was high priced for the flat bread. Stopped in on Wednesday evening around 645pm. Seated and the waitress couldn't tell us the burger special. "Tomato burger something " and the soup was a " beefy broth with some sort or vegetables". As residents we would like to see new(er) places thrive, but sadly don't see this place keeping the doors open much longer. read more

Beautiful decor and classy feel. We had the Brussel sprouts, fresh juice, burger, and steak sandwich with soup. Every item that we had was delicious. The prices are slightly higher, however, the detail on quality ingredients is quite clear. Even down to the table salt that was clearly a high quality salt. They use no seed oils which is a big priority in our family. We will be back!!! read more

This is a hard review to give as I love to support local/family owned businesses. I will start with the positives. The atmosphere and decor is on point; love the vibe. But that's it. I've tried their breakfast and lunch menu to really give it a fair shot but I was beyond disappointed with both. The food lacks creativity and flavor. So for not good food... and then service. It is so slow I could go home, make food that blows their menu out of the water... and come back and still not have my food or be checked on for drink refills. I'm going to sadly never recommend this establishment and really hope they take in consideration I wanted so badly to love it since St Michael needed another restaurant in their downtown area. Also final nail in the coffin is that their prices are insane. You should not be paying $50 for one person for basic food and poor service. read more

Super cute place! My daughter and I were excited as we sat down. Ordered a juice and a Bloody Mary. Server came back about 10 minutes later to take our order as we were *still* waiting on our drinks. Drinks arrived - honestly the worst Bloody Mary I've ever had. No flavor at all. My daughter ordered the breakfast sandwich which comes with potatoes and toast. The jelly with the toast was great. Potatoes were absent and the sandwich was ok. The omelet I had was also very meh. I would have let the server know about the bad drink and missing food, but she didn't come back until she delivered the check. So I always give these new businesses a second chance to see if the early bugs get worked out.... They definitely have raised to bar on the staff, and we've had multiple positive experiences since the first visit. The food has since been fantastic, and the servers were on the ball. Location is great, the patio is a good area, and the interior is clean and pleasant. I can now solidly recommend this as a regular spot to add to the other couple of my favorites in St. Michael. read more

I thought the place was cute and like the location, but the food was absolutely disappointing and the price was beyond inflated. I tried breakfast and tapas on two separate occasions and both times yielded the same results. I wanted to given them another chance, but was disappointed again. I was with a party of 4 the first time and a party of 5 the second time and none of us were happy with the dishes. Extremely bland, cold meat on the tacos with no flavor, the flatbreads were also bland and the toppings undercooked. The eggs also very bland and cold. Service was extremely slow both times, which I could overlook had the dishes been tasty and satisfying. I wanted to love this place because healthy dining is a rare thing, but unfortunately the quality was not good and the price point was crazy high.
