They were very accommodating and let me come by immediately for a meet and greet. Paul and Katie were very friendly and reassuring. My dogs took to them and had a blast during the short encounter. So, I boarded my dogs with them for a night the next day. Some things I'd like to highlight is that they have a spacious fenced in yard and a doggie door so the dogs can come and go as they please. My little brats could learn how to be dogs in a pack. Food is included and provided. They provide high quality grain free food that my dogs love and they leave it out so the dogs can graze. This is good if your dog eats when it's hungry. However, my dogs, being puggles, ate non-stop and Paul and Katie had to put the food up. They just fed my dogs like pigeons throughout the day instead. This is something you might want to consider if your dog has special dietary needs and will eat everything in sight. But apart from one of my dogs overeating till his all you can eat buffet was thwarted, all is good. Oh Katie is a nurse and she's able to put eye drops or whatever your dog needs. My dogs are fine, but it's something you might want to consider when picking a boarding place for your dogs. Best part about Just Like Home is that the dogs can go on the furniture and sleep with humans. My dogs lay on Paul and Katie and watched tv and slept with Paul at night. (Sorry, Paul, I know my dogs are walking heat packs.) I'm relieved that my dogs can get the human contact and attention that they crave. I don't have to feel bad that they are crying in a suite at some other boarding place. When I went to pick the dogs up, one of them came up to greet me, then ran back off to play with his friends. He didn't want to leave. The other one is a total momma's boy, so he stayed by me while we tried let the first one know that it was time to go home. Also, the rates here are very reasonable. I'll definitely take my dogs there again if I need to board them while I'm in Jacksonville.

I did a 'get acquainted visit' and my pups were greeted with love by Katie, Paul and they gang'. The true test was leaving them for an overnight. I picked them up this evening and they were too 'busy' playing with the other pups and following Katie around! (Guess they didn't exactly miss mom!). Katie helped my little almost blind AnnieRose learn to use a doggie door and navigate some little steps into the house. Katie is a nurse and she was fabulous about making sure AnnieRose got her eye drops faithfully. I don't think there is a more loving place to leave my little ones. I contacted Dog days & Cat naps. I was surprised when the owner JP answered the phone. After a long conversation , all he had available on short notice was a 30 min drop in session with Lora. I couldn't be happier with her services. She was on time and followed what we talked about to the exact point. Because we had back to back trips I had to schedule a 3 hr in house pup- sitter. This time we had Kourtney she was always on time. She played, walked and gave Solo hugs and cuddles for their time together. Both Lora and Kourtney were great with Solo. I can say that in 25 plus years we have boarded multiple breeds of very aggressive dogs without incident that many a boarding kennel might have turned down. My dogs were shown love and compassion that it's hard to find. They took the time to learn intricacies of the breeds we brought to them. They even used an exercise period for one dog to train him to point!! I cannot recommend them any more highly... Again my condolences to the cat owner.

I'm really not sure what happened... but we will not be taking our dogs back here again. We will also make sure to let folks know that they should look elsewhere for day camp and boarding needs. If you're considering giving them your patronage, read this first. To give a little context, one of our dogs is anxious and chews their crate pads. What has occurred in the past is we get home and less than 12 hours later our anxious chewer pukes up handfuls of HARD plastic. They get crated during 12-2p for 'cleaning' so they turn the cameras off and we've been unable to catch this negligence in action. We've called and tried to figure out what's happening in respect to this issue, multiple times, since it's a recurring issue. Most recently we had to board them a couple nights and when we picked up the dogs, lo and behold the same issue (see pic). We had to board them from Friday to Monday 7-19-21, the picture is from Tuesday 7-20-21. While we appreciated the responsiveness, they completely deflected blame. Yes, they apologized but proceeded to tell us that it's "new staff" and "we have to remind them every time" just like "if they were our toddlers." Since this was not the first, second, or third time this happened we had assumed this was an action that should've occurred already. A last final follow up on the occurrence from Tuesday was a text saying they decided they were removing the crate pads. See pic of text. We have given them too many chances and that's on us. We had to take them in during the day Thursday 7-22-21 due to construction on the house. We were fooled into thinking they would remedy the situation immediately. Cue me waking up at 5:30a to take out the anxious pup so she can puke up. What was it? You guessed it, black hard plastic crate pieces. Which could cause some major health problems, and endangers her health. We have seen the staff completely ignoring the dogs, texting instead of paying attention, and have had them come home smelling like they were stuck in a room with too many dogs and no cleaning. We kept going back thinking these were all flukes. The owner was right, we DO need to treat them more like our toddlers because we should have NEVER have gone back. We have been too trusting and listened to words instead of letting the actions of the people who "love them like they were [their] own" speak for themselves. Maybe the franchise is OK but this location is not. A final note: I just spoke with a manager who took a look at their file for me and confirmed it did indeed have a note re: specific dog not being able to be crated during lunch. The date on this note: MAY 20, 2020.

When I picked up my 10lb small dog back in June, he reeked of urine. They gave me wipes to clean him up as well as a bunch of excuses. No big deal right? Well six weeks ago I took him again, thinking it's been a couple months for them to reset. This time, I watched on the camera. Suspecting this was urine (see my pic) I went and picked him up. He smelled absolutely disgusting. I went through six wipes that were turned completely yellow just from cleaning his feet, I should have photographed them on the counter. You guys, they are not taking care of our animals! The manager actually said to me, "This happened the last time you were in here." I asked about no one being in the room, she said short staffed. I asked about the urine, she apologized. I asked about the play equipment being removed, she said it just keeps breaking. I have requested the owner call me, nothing. A colleague experienced the same with her pup and she met the owner one evening at 5:30. Same attitude I got from the manager. She gave her my contact info directly, still nothing. They owe me a couple hundred dollars for prepaid services because I will never go back here. Please be the voice for your animals they don't have. --------update------ The day after I posted this review, the owner called. She indicated she was unaware of this situation and apologized. She also refunded my 5-pack. She said she would pull the tape, review and go from there. I added one star to my review because she did the right thing.

Awful and frightening experience…read more I had a very disturbing experience at Hounds Town that I feel obligated to share. On two separate occasions, my dog was harmed after being left in their care. The first incident involved my dog contracting kennel cough, which required a vet visit and antibiotics. I notified Hounds Town, and while they offered a couple of free days to make up for it, there was no real accountability or reassurance beyond that. After debating whether to return, I gave them another chance -- and deeply regret it. About an hour after dropping my dog off, I received a voicemail stating that my dog had been attacked. No emergency contacts were called, my workplace was not contacted, and my veterinarian was never called. When I arrived to pick him up, my dog was still bleeding, which makes me believe he had been left alone rather than receiving immediate care. I had to take him back to the vet again. When you trust a business with your pet, you expect safety, supervision, and immediate action in an emergency. That did not happen here. The lack of urgency, communication, and basic emergency protocol is extremely concerning. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone who values their dog's safety.

The facility is well taken care of, clean and the owners and workers are all friendly and very nice. They went out of their way to be accomodating. Also, they REALLY care about the animals and even help out Animal Care and Control to try and get dogs adopted and give them some time outside the pound. The owners were extremely nice and friendly. They seemed to know everyone. Quick to react/help and with a smile. HIGHLY recommend.
