I wasn't sure how he would do woth other animals but Devon immediately assured me that they would be able to handle Kapano in their house for his boarding! I was impressed as he came back more confident and mannered around other dogs. I was consistently sent updates and photos of him throughout his stay and made to feel more than welcome to visit. He also came back to me in better shape in terms of muscle! If there was anything Devon had questions about they had no issues contacting me right away to let me know or ask about, I felt very comfortable and safe with my dog remaining under Devons care. I had never had to leave my dog with anyone before so i was reasonably worried as he's been my bestfriend for 6 years but i am EXTREMELY satisfied with Devons services and will continue to use devon for any training/boarding related needs for the future. We had worried because she had never been boarded or played with other dogs. However, she came home with fur friends and a team that truly cared for her. I am in Jax for extended stay, but still a temporary visit, and I wanted my dog to have some sense of normalcy by continuing to go to daycare like she does at home. The owner talked me through the forms to sign, which is on me for not reading it myself, because she did not at all mention that I was signed up for auto-billing so I was shocked to see a $428 charge for daycare when my dog didn't go to daycare once on the initial 1 month package I signed up for. The fact that I had to reach out multiple times before getting any acknowledgement is a super disappointing experience given how friendly and "transparent" the owner is to prospective customers. I will note the reason I didn't end up taking my dog there even though I had purchased a package is because it is standard at all Dogtopia's that dogs are crated for a 2 hour window everyday, and the place I take her at our permanent home is a crate-free environment so two hours in a crate every day would not be a good experience for her.

I called my vet only to find out they no longer do boarding. But they recommended Happy Hounds. After checking out Happy Hounds online, I called and had the pleasure of speaking to the owner, Brian. He explained I needed to create an account online and once established, I could make a reservation for Molly (THE sweetest Yorkie ever!)..Brian further advised that the first visit is always free! Now that is a real tail-wagger lol. I also told Brian that Molly is a little shy around other dogs and he said he'd keep her up at the front counter with him. The next morning I woke up before sunrise to what sounded like giants stomping on my roof. Molly started a barking spree which I knew would not stop until my roof my done! So we headed to Happy Hounds on Beach Blvd. Brian and a very friendly dog greeted us. I could see and hear many dogs just having a great time in the open area. You have to smile when you see dogs running around like kids on a playground at recess! Brian reassured me he would keep Molly up front with him so she'd be close to a human. (I don't know if it's a Yorkie thing, but she likes to be near or on a person at all times!) I noticed that Happy Hounds is arranged in such a way that you don't need to worry about your precious pup escaping and exploring while there. The neat thing is, you can still see the dogs while they are kept safe. I picked Molly up around 1 PM and there she was, still safe behind the counter - happy, and hanging out with a shy Poodle. Happy Hounds entrance has fencing and a gate similar to what you see around swimming pools...the open metal bars and you have to push down on a knob for the gate the open/close. The gate automatically swings shut once you are inside. I was a little concerned about the location as it's right off of busy Beach Blvd. The fenced access is a great touch. When we were leaving, little Molly did slip through the bars and so she was outside while I was still inside the gate. But I had her on a leash, so everything was OK. Just wanted to mention this in case you have a 10 pounds or less pooch! Thank you Happy Hounds for taking such good care of Molly! You saved her (and me!) from what would have been an extremely stressful day.

She made sure we were informed daily of their status, they were walked and loved like they were her own. She left our home spotless and we could tell our babies were very happy when we returned. Even our neighbors commented on how nice she was when she went to walk the dogs! We will absolutely be using Curly Tail for all our future trips. I don't think you could find a better alternative than Curly Tail if you want the best care for your pet babies, and Rose will be our go to person.
