    Cookie Butter sticky bun
    Kayte R.

We stopped by Homestead Bakery on a weekend visit to Corning, and I'm so glad we did. Everything looked incredible, but the weekend sticky bun -- a butter cookie version when we went -- completely stole the show. Soft, gooey, buttery perfection with that perfect balance of sweet and rich. Honestly one of the best pastries I've ever had. We also tried the fresh pesto focaccia, which was excellent -- light, flavorful, and just the right amount of salt and herb. I usually lean toward savory, but that sticky bun was so good it made me forget everything else for a minute. If you're anywhere near Corning, do yourself a favor and stop here -- especially on a weekend when they have the special sticky buns. Totally worth it.

Nicest people, amazingly fresh, delicious food. Order the chicken salad - best I've tasted- on fresh baked focaccia. Went back twice!

I'd seen the positive Yelp reviews and received it as a suggestion from the young lady at the Rockwell visitor desk. This is a counter service bakery & cafe. There was a line when I got here. It was a bit slow with one person taking orders. There's a handful of tables and short counter seating looking out the front window. I noticed the sweet smell of baked goods when I walked in. I ordered the recommended BLT Turkey & Cheese crepe with the warm cheesy casserole side. The crepe is large, larger than a sandwich. There is a lot of dill sauce on top but it isn't overwhelming. The crepe has good flavor and it is filled well. The thinly sliced lettuce and diced tomato help lighten each bite. The casserole is on the smaller size which perfectly suits the size of the crepe. It's very cheesy with the potatoes adding more of a texture than a flavor. I would recommend this spot for a filling lunch while exploring Corning.

Meanwhile, the "potato casserole" looked suspiciously like a scoop from a crockpot. To top it all off, this masterpiece was served on flimsy paper plates, the kind you find at family potlucks. Not exactly the "artisan cafe" experience I had in mind. And let's not forget the kitchen ambiance: constant door slams and beeps from what was clearly microwaves. When the forgot our bacon, we watched through the kitchen opening the bacon being reheated in the microwave. The baked items in the case looked good and seemed fresh. There was a constant line for cookies, etc. Final verdict? Left disappointed about my breakfast. Would go back and try the baked goods. Hopefully, they will be a better option.

But...we got there around 12:00 and there were several people in there but also multiple tables open. The hostess ignored us and went straight to the people that just walked in after us (it was obvious we got there first)- then she didn't even address us or greet us... so we picked out a seat and then menus were brought to us. The guy behind the counter came to get our order- he seemed kind of standoffish. I noticed we also got a different presentation of food with chips in a paper bag rather than plated with our food like the others? The food seemed to be good but honestly was overshadowed by the uncomfortable feeling we were being treated differently? We were the only people of color during that time- and all of us felt like that could've been a factor... Otherwise, I try to stay impartial- so the vibe was cute and the food was good- but the experience was not comfortable

Our fellow convention buddies had been here or were going. We made out way over and sat right down. After perusing the very simple menu we ordered. Donna was a server (she is a pistol) and took very good care of us. She brought us water and coffee within a few minutes of sitting down. We all (the four of us) had the regular fare. Eggs, toast, bagels, pancakes...etc... It just took a few minutes to be served our breakfast and it was all really good and tasty. All served at a very reasonable price. I truly enjoyed the food and really rustic venue. Everywhere we looked someone would say; "I had that," or "I still use that." All these old practical household items. It made for a fun experience.
