Saw people talking about this online and thought we'd give it a try during for my dad's birthday lunch- and we were excited to try... But...we got there around 12:00 and there were several people in there but also multiple tables open. The hostess ignored us and went straight to the people that just walked in after us (it was obvious we got there first)- then she didn't even address us or greet us... so we picked out a seat and then menus were brought to us. The guy behind the counter came to get our order- he seemed kind of standoffish. I noticed we also got a different presentation of food with chips in a paper bag rather than plated with our food like the others? The food seemed to be good but honestly was overshadowed by the uncomfortable feeling we were being treated differently? We had lunch at Hand + Foot in Corning last week when we were in Corning for a few hours and had a great time. Hand + Foot has a great pub atmosphere, with bar seating and some high top tables. We sat at the bar, where the service was great. We had a couple of beers to cool down on that hot July day, which were both great. Then we shared their cold soba noodles (soba noodles, cucumber and onion salad, sweet chili sauce, and fried shallot), which was delicious and refreshing. My husband had their poke (seared ahi tuna, avocado, jalapeno, toasted coconut, macadamia nuts, sesame, soy vinaigrette, and rice), and I had their dinner salad (romaine, fried halloumi and tofu, and Caesar dressing). We enjoyed both dishes! (The menu mentioned garganelli pasta on the dinner salad, which I was really excited to try - how would that work?! - but mine came without pasta). Both dishes were classic but tasty and refreshing on a hot day. Their menu is large (with lots of sandwiches plus many other options that make sense at a pub with an international twist). The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with exposed brick and ro artwork that gives the place an artsy, modern feel while still honoring its historic setting. Definitely a spot where you could linger for a while. Food-wise, we ordered the fried rice with crispy chicken (breaded in crushed Cheerios--yes, Cheerios, and yes, surprisingly delicious!), the bánh mì, and the crispy chicken sandwich, which ended up being the star of the show. Every bite of that sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and satisfying. We upgraded our side to the greens, which came topped with some mysterious orange ingredient--maybe a grated carrot dressing? Whatever it was, it was scrumptious. We also ordered a side of pickles, which were surprisingly affordable and so flavorful that they disappeared fast. We didn't try any drinks, but the menu had plenty of interesting options to choose from. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how family-friendly the place felt: while we waited, the kids grabbed a new-to-us game (The Enchanted Forest) from the board game shelves, which made the time fly by. We arrived for an early dinner with a 4 year old and 1 year old. Like many folks with small kids, I was a bit put off by the name but with the great reviews, we decided to try it. The ambiance is dim and quiet, but they were happy to have us. My 4 year old used colored pencils on coloring sheets we brought with us. For babies and small kids, they have ingelisa chairs that clip on the high tables and I was concerned about the high chairs for our 4 year old but it was fine. She devoured her entire meal(chicken tenders) and a half of our 1 year olds' (they have a kids menu with chicken tenders, grilled peanut butter and fluff, noodles with butter, hot dog..). The service was fast and great. While I am vegetarian and my spouse is gluten free, we are always pleasantly surprised when we both find delicious food. I loved the general tso's poboy with cauliflower and tofu. I wish there was more cauliflower since my 1 year old took many of those pieces. The ddukkbokki dish was a weird texture (which I should've surmised) but otherwise taste wise we enjoyed the fried rice. It was on the oilier side but it was savory enough to balance out and justify the oil! What a strange name for a restaurant - but don't let that stop you! the food here was super delicious!!! I got the Beer Brisket sandwich, which was so tender and flavorful, the everything bun was soft and delicious too! I did not care for the potato salad though, which I paid $2 extra for - without knowing (they really should tell you) - it was VERY VERY heavy on the vinegar - this is the reason for the 4 instead of a 5 rating! My husband got the Gluten Free Buttermilk fried chicken and LOVED every bite of it -- he couldn't believe it was GF! my family loved the food. this was by far the worst service I had ever experienced in a restaurant in my life. before I even sat down one of the staff barked at me for choosing a seat at a long row of tables. the poor patrons seated next to me asked for a spoon and the same staff member barked at them and never helped them get their spoon. the place was trendy looking and looked fine. But I should've known by a restaurant name closely resembling a disease. What I was about to get. I ordered the rice cakes with tofu. The tofu was over fried and the rice cakes over all were not sauced enough. Also ordered kimchi. That was a real disappointment because it not kimchi at all, instead you get vinegar pickled vegetables with chili flakes. Not a great experience. read more

The restaurant has a pretty eclectic menu, but I went for one of the more standard items - the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which was two pieces of fried chicken with cheese and thick bacon. The sandwich had a let of heft to it and tasted good. I wish it came with fries instead of potato chips, but seemed reasonably priced for what it was. So I say I'll have that to which he goes "it's not vegan, there is mayo in the vinaigrette." I say okay and he says nothing so we move on to the next person as I continue to look at the menu. My mother then asks, "is there anything vegan on the menu?" His response is "that wasn't the question". I didn't ask my mom to ask that. I actually said you don't have to ask that mom and the server/you were right there. You don't need to be rude to my mom for no reason either. Apparently asking what is in the salad is a rude question. My apologies for not treating you with special care. I appreciate you being rude the entire rest of the meal because of that interaction. Outstanding!!! We had the Phillys Finest and Buttermilk chicken sandwiches. Both were incredibly tasty, fresh, and well put together. The chicken came with three pieces and was loaded with two kinds of bacon. The Philly roast pork was tender and flavorful; careful with the pepper relish, it added some heat. I had never had fried rice like that and wish I had the time to have tried a few more things off the menu. The bar was pretty and it was clear that this was a local favorite. A must-stop when your in Corning. Challenging part was deciding which sandwich to go with. Ended up sharing the salmon melt and beer brisket. Both blew my mind they were so good. I would slap that dill sauce from the salmon sandwich on pretty much anything; the hint of lemon was so refreshing. And can't not mention that beer cheese sauce - salty & tangy, a perfect accompaniment to the tender beef. It would be hard not to order these sandwiches again. We also shared the Amish bread (pretzel), which had a great tang, slightly sour flavor that was well-balanced with bacon crumbles, cheese, and more cheese for dipping. Kids menu not written, but included chicken fingers, grilled cheese, pb&j (grilled?), and fluffernutter, all served with chips. Inside the seating was a bit different - some small tops and one really large table were multiple parties could sit at. It worked well and you could eavesdrop and see what other people were eating - hehehe. I think they have a lot to offer for drinks but we don't drink, it just appears they have a lovely bar area. The food is pretty good and has a variety of unique offerings. My only qualm, if you have food allergies/sensitivies or diet restrictions (gluten or dairy), there's not much for you here at all. This was our first stop to dine at in Corning, NY on 9/13/23. We walked in and the vibe was great with people just enjoying a nice Wednesday afternoon. Our waitress was Chantel and she gave us some great recommendations for drinks. The Hatchett was summer in a glass and the Robert Palmer was nice as well. That Del Maguey Pechuga Mezcal was a nice recommendation and I will be grabbing a bottle on way back to Cali. Now for the food! The preztel with that beer cheese dipping sauce was a great starter. It has a pretty extensive drink menu, which made it both hard and fun to choose a cocktail. Our server was attentive, enough. Phil and I saddled up to the bar and we were welcomed with open arms. It was during off hours, so there were only a few other patrons. This restaurant was named after a card game that the family likes to play. The rules are included as part of the extensive spirits menu. Even if you don't drink, you should check this out. The cocktails were off the charts. Stop in here for a drink at least. I went with the tuna poke bowl, as they have an additional gluten free menu, which was much appreciated. The tuna was done perfectly and the flavors combined within the bowl were paired well. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. Phil had the pullman melt, and also enjoyed it very much. The restaurant is a work of art, and the bathrooms are even spectacularly furnished. The hipster vibes are everywhere, but I didn't mind, I actually relished in them.
