Through my travels I have found the Hyatt Place chain to be consistently comfortable with top-notch…read moreservice. The Auburn Hills location is no exception. The room was perfect, with room to sit and watch TV or read. The fridge was colder and roomier than most hotel mini fridges. The staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed chatting with the desk personnel and felt very welcome. They also put on a great breakfast, something that is getting harder to find. I appreciated the touches to make my stay comfortable and I'll stay here again (it's close to family).

We've stayed in newer Hyatt Places before, this was a bit older, but still clean and comfortable. The staff members we interacted with were all super friendly and kind. The room was interesting, with a large couch in a living room area, a desk, a mini fridge/wet bar area, and the bathroom was adjacent to the beds. It's a big room and could probably sleep up to five people, so it was plenty for the three of us. Some of the outlets were tricky. There were no USB ports anywhere and our charger plugged into the extension cord under the nightstand kept falling out. The free wifi was good and fast enough for Nate to use to get some work done in the room. The mini fridge kept everything super cold, which was great as we had some leftovers from dinner. The free breakfast included fruit, yogurt, bagels, and hot premade Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. There is a pool and fitness center but we didn't use those. Not many guests when we were there, but the parking lot and location felt safe. Quick drive to The Crofoot and other points of interest - we particularly loved the Hub nearby for happy hour drinks and snacks!

Can't speak on the hotel, this review is for the hotel's restaurant, The Auburn Standard…read more Came here because Oakland University had to pivot their usual radio show, which is usually held at Patti Finnigan's on OU's golf courses. So it was a very last-minute plan job to relocate the Coach Kampe's radio show to here instead. The set up of the radio show was great, and there was plenty of seating throughout. Parking was not bad and the lobby of the hotel was modern and updated. The restaurant was easy to find. Inside the restaurant has swanky/modern vibes. Lots of booths along with a large bar. The place did seem a little rundown in areas. But the booths were in good shape along with the tables. Service was not great in the beginning. There was one server and one bartender when we got there. We sat at our table for at least 20 to 30 minutes without anyone ever coming by our table. Which wasn't the greatest when you're trying to entertain an almost 2-year-old. There had to be at least 40+ people dining at the restaurant. My husband tried to order at the bar and we were turned away and said a server would be at our table. Noticed eventually that one of the cooks came out to start taking orders, and another person showed up to help. Once our server came to us, she apologized for the wait and everything from thereafter was great. The menu has a little bit of everything. Some small plates and main entrées. Our appetizers came out in about 15 minutes. Ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, meatball, and crabcakes. Everything was absolutely delicious! My only complaint was the crabcake should've been served with a lemon wedge. The crabcakes were crunchy on the outside and really packed with crab rather than being overly packed with filler and breadcrumbs. The sauce was delicious. The meatball was one big meatball, which had great flavor. The very inside did seem a little undercooked though. The bread with the meatballs was OK. It just tasted like hamburger buns that were toasted. The marinara sauce was good though. The spinach and artichoke dip was creamy and hot. We also ordered a burger and salmon dinner. The fries were absolutely delicious. Had a good crunch on them and they were crispy. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Thankfully, the bill came out pretty quick and we were able to get on our way. Overall, really impressed with the hotel restaurant. I know these places can have a hit or miss reputation. We definitely come back!

The mattresses were Awful. We could feel the springs. We had to change beds in the middle of the night... the second bed was just as bad. The metal frame was sticking through and the mattresses on both beds were collapsed. The room smelled. For over $200 a night... WASTE OF MONEY. We should have gone to the hotel across the street. When we went to the desk- they were completely unapologetic and unaccommodating. I would NOT stay here again, rethinking the whole chain. Terrible customer service... and yes... I am exhausted after not sleeping! I do not want to even give a star due to the ridiculous customer service.

Worst hotel experience ever. While waiting to check in, I…read moreheard a customer voicing all of her complaints to the front desk and I thought she was crazy. Turns out she wasn't. I should've known something was up when they asked for $100 security deposit, I have never in my life paid a security deposit at a hotel. The elevator and hallways were a mess and gave a sleazy Motel vibe. However, they are under construction, and I figured it would be better when I got to the room. Wrong, first of all we reserved a two bedroom suite with a king and two queens. We were given a two bedroom suite with a king and a queen. Looking around, there was debris left on the floor from the previous guests. But what took the cake was the headboard of my room. I cannot tell you how disgusted I was when I saw what I suspect was sperm smeared all over the headboard. The sheets were dirty with stains and there were more signs of bodily fluids on the shower curtain. I was beyond disgusted. On my way back down to the check-in, there was a group of girls getting off the elevator who looked around and stated that the hotel looked like it was used for sex trafficking. When I made it to the front desk, the worker was extremely apologetic and offered me either a late checkout or another room. I wanted to state neither, but I booked the room under a deal online that was nonrefundable. I told her I would take a new room. The new room was a little cleaner and appeared to be without bodily fluids. However, it still was not the room we booked with one king and two queen beds, and it still had debris all over the floor. It was a horrible night, I could not believe I booked a room at this place. My comfort level was at -50.I placed a chair under the door for extra security and slept on top of the blankets of my bed. I was asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I stated yes and waited at the front desk, but she did not come down. I left my name and phone number requesting a call and they assured me she would call me right away. However, I did not hear from her that day. I made a call to her the next day at which times she apologized and offered me a room upgrade if I stayed at her location again. Which was laughable at best. I will never stay at one of these properties ever again in my life. I called corporate and filed a complaint and I am currently waiting for a determination. Also, just a heads up that hundred dollar security deposit can take up to three- seven days to be returned.

My wife asked me what was their corporate response to this stay in Auburn Hills/ Pontiac? I suppose concern but they most likely had not started their investigation. So Why not? As far as any reasonable person would say if what we alleged is true with a foreign odor but specifically marijuana had overcome and infiltrated room..... THEY NEED TO INVESTIGATE. (a month had transpired) We want our money back (points)! This matter is a violation to EVERY public board of health dept. across the country. A night manager and assistant witnessed this and should have been interviewed by Marriott by now. If what I am claiming is not true then why on earth did we suddenly move rooms our last night and around 900 or 10 PM? iMO - When franchising a hotel Marriott corporation naturallyvhas a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders BUT also uphold  J. Willard Marriott standard. I suppose,  If pot smoking is acceptable in a non smoking hotel then our complaint is not valid. Shame on Marriott for leaving ends open and still not fully investigate. Why waste our time because you are now challenging your good customers credibility. Many years ago a company by the name of a Sears, Roebuck and Company was perhaps the largest retailer in the world. They were listed on the Dow Jones too. Last I checked Sears was replaced by Home Depot and no longer exist in any recognizable  form. Respectfully, Craig (Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite)
