My family and I just checked out of the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel after staying in room…read more216. While our overall accommodations included friendly staff, clean bedrooms, and comfortable beds, I need to address the unacceptable condition of the bathroom in our room. My husband and I traveled from Washington, DC, with our 5-year-old son, who had just undergone facial reanimation surgery. As you can imagine, this was an incredibly stressful and emotional experience for our family. After his release from the hospital, we simply wanted a comfortable place to rest that could accommodate both our son and the wheelchair he required immediately following surgery. When I checked in, the front desk attendant explained that because our stay had been booked using points and we arrived before the 4:00 p.m. check-in time, they had not yet completed preparation of rooms tied to point reservations versus standard reservations. Rather than make us wait, we were offered room 216. The staff was kind enough to provide us with a wheelchair while we waited for our son's wheelchair to be delivered, which we appreciated very much. After an exhausting and emotionally draining week, we brought all of our luggage and our son's belongings upstairs and immediately fell asleep. It was not until the following morning, when my husband attempted to shower, that we discovered the alarming condition of the bathtub. (Photos attached.) At first, I assumed this must have been an oversight due to our early check-in and that housekeeping simply had not yet cleaned the bathroom. Because we had medical appointments scheduled that day, we wore Crocs and flip-flops while showering, and we had already planned to wash our son in the sink to avoid getting his bandages wet. Before leaving, we specifically requested housekeeping service and asked that the bathroom be cleaned. When we returned later that evening, the ring in the bathtub remained exactly as it had before. My concern is not only how unsightly and unsanitary the bathtub appeared, but the fact that I find it extremely difficult to believe this was the first complaint regarding room 216. The condition was too noticeable and too concerning for management and staff to be unaware of it. Frankly, I feel insulted that this room was offered to us at all. It leaves me wondering whether guests placed in room 216 are simply expected to tolerate the condition without complaint. I am also troubled by the possibility that we were offered this room because our reservation was booked with points and because we arrived visibly exhausted, traveling with a disabled child who urgently needed rest. I am a longtime Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, and to be placed in a room with a bathroom in this condition -- particularly when I strongly suspect management is already aware of the issue -- is completely unacceptable. We informed the front desk last night that we would be checking out a day early.

Location isn't the best but it's close to UTD and within a short distance to shopping, food as well as grocery. It's a convention hotel that is also adjacent to an event center, there's always something going so get your ass down to the bar early and make a reservation for the restaurant. I'll stay again due to as stated earlier its proximity to the university

First room had a possible bedding issue so we switched rooms. The second one had a chair that was a little loose, but didn't need to use it. The room itself is spacious with 2 beds, sofa, desk, bench and small kitchen. The coffee machine is available 24 hours but went a little crazy when I arrived. It was fine in the morning. The breakfast was ok. It was skimpier than what I experienced at the Element - Harrison, NJ. The hot breakfast station offered an omelette with 2 veggies and 2 proteins. The turkey bacon looked like a fruit roll up so I took a bite and tossed it. The yogurt bar was really good. My bread was better here since I toasted it. They also offered hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit, oatmeal packets, cereal and muffins too. The hotel had a decent amount of guests, but breakfast just felt skimpy in comparison to the other location I visited. They have a gym, pool, nice lobby and free parking. This hotel was centrally located, ok priced and ok customer service (nice front desk girl at check-in, but didn't really interact with the checkout guy). I would consider staying here again.

The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. I once had a very minor issue and the AGM was very helpful in helping me. Free parking and breakfast included. Can't ask for more. Looking forward to many more stays here!

The room itself was clean, but the overall feel of the property seemed a bit worn. The carpet and lobby areas looked dingy, and the decor felt somewhat cheap. While nothing was outright dirty, the atmosphere didn't feel as fresh as I would have wanted or expected. On the positive side, the bed and pillows were comfortable enough, and I slept reasonably well. The location was good in that there were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance, including sushi, BBQ, seafood, and Mexican options. That aspect made it very convenient during a busy conference schedule. One downside: several of my colleagues experienced no hot water throughout our stay. I personally only had warm water, but it sounds like it was a broader issue. Overall, it was a decent stay for work due to the location, but the property could use some updating and better maintenance to improve the overall experience.

Called Marriott to launch complaint because GM would NOT respond!…read more The hotel rooms have a funky odor that smells sort of like curry. Had to request the staff to spray deodorizer in the two rooms where I stayed to mask the odor. I was told all of the rooms smell like this and the hotel is aware. One of the staff actually said they have a lot of wedding guests, and they think they eat curry in their rooms. One room was way worse than the other room, but both had the odors that other guest complained about according to one of the staff members. Housekeeping staff are not alike. Some housekeepers better than others and not all consistent. Sometimes my room was vacuumed, other times not. Sometimes I was left with toilet paper, other times I had to request. Sometimes sheets were changed but other times not....etc etc Hard to communicate with them due to language barrier. Request to front desk staff for towels, toilet paper, etc. But only delivered twice during long stay. GM stated guests are required to retrieve supplies on their own from front desk as the hotel is too small to handle requests. All of these requests were during the day when there are other staff members behind a locked door. & housekeeping are available. I have seen a sign at front desk during evenings stating staff is away helping guest and will return shortly. I just think this particular GM Allen Bosque just wants to play blame game for the shortfalls at his hotel & place responsibilities for retrieving supplies on hotel guests. Complaints reported during day on Marriott app were replied to by hotel staff, but the issues remained well over 24 hours. FOR EXAMPLE, only 2floor ice machine worked majority of time when other ice machines remained inop. The 2nd floor room with the only working ice machine was left in a dirty & gross state after someone spilled something. Pic attached. Left the trash bin outside my room for trash to be dumped and was left there over 19 hours before complaining for someone to dump even though housekeeping was actually on the floor and had cleaned rooms near my room. Pic attached. Received an email from GM whereby he lied snd told me to stop taking pics of his staff in these two pics. No staff in any of the pics. He was just mad because I have proof of the issues at this hotel. Washer and dryer not consistently cleaned even though there was a wet floor sign in the room at times. GM will never respond to you until you call Marriott to launch a complaint. Some front staff appeared to working OT a lot due to front desk staffing issues. The great people I experienced: Thomas should be a manager as he's very professional and great. Diana has a perfect professional demeanor and is lovely. Maggie in housekeeping came many times to spray deodorizer in my room of which I appreciated. She also vacuumed when housekeeping forgot. MX guy who cleaned the washer and reimbursed me when I ran an empty load after he cleaned was nice. Christina is ok, but she comes across a bit too abrupt at times and ends up rubbing people the wrong way as I experienced once and heard other people in the elevator complaining about too.

We eventually parked, walked in, and checked in. The person working the front desk was friendly. We were upgraded to a suite during our stay. I have long days at work and more to do after hours so I send a lot of time in the hotel and using their amenities. Here is my take on the good and bad. Good: While I have heard others complain of room quality, I have never had an issue . My only complaint about the rooms is the lack of a true refrigerator. The small coolers just don't add anything to the room since the best they can produce is lukewarm. Good incentive to visit the restaurant, bar or service counter, but a cold fridge should be a no-brainer. Which leads me to the restaurant and bar. The menu is small but the quality is very good. The staff is outstanding. I'm a bar guy, and I love this one. Chris, Selena, Sachi and Mani were amazing! They're so friendly and accommodating, and are just the best team members. They should be the standard for the staff. Which leads me to... the Bad. Shen I got to the hotel around 5:15 on Monday afternoon, I still had not received my digital key. I waited in a long line at the front desk to see what was going on. When it was my turn, I asked the attendant/host if my room was ready. I was told no, because I picked a room that wasn't clean. I'm sorry! I don't remember an option to pick an unclean room. While I was asking her when it might be ready, the phone rang and she answered it, dismissing me without a response. Off to the bar to have the staff there lift my spirits. My room wasn't ready until 6:00pm. Unacceptable. Also, 2 of the 3 elevators were not working for the week I was there, and one night when I was heading downstairs it wasn't working either. Luckily it was working after I walked down 17 floors. All in all, it was a good stay. However, it's an example of how small, cumulative hospitality failures can prevent a stay from being great.
