I know there have been a lot of backlash and negative reviews about this kennel recently and I just wanted to share my personal experience on this kennel. My husband and I found Julie and Homestyle Kennel when we were beginning our search for a new fur baby. Our oldest dog was coming toward the end of her life and our other dog needed a companion because she had always had one. My husband went to her place alone because I was at work, initially, to look at some Shi-pom puppies. We had our sights on one, but when he got there he immediately fell in love with the runt of the litter. When he sent me photos (she had no problem with him taking photos and sending them to me), I also fell for this little girl. The following day we both went together so that I could see her for myself. She grabbed our hearts and we decided she was the one for our family. She wasn't quite ready yet, we would have to wait a few more weeks until we could get her, but from the time we brought her home to this day (she will be 7 in November), she has been the best little 5 pounds of furry fun. Everyone who sees our little Sadie wants to clone her because they love her so much. As for her health, she has NEVER had any medical issues at all. I purchased my Pom from. HomeStyle Kennel and Julia is a very sweet and loving. My Pom lived for 15 years and was the joy of my life. My Peanut was healthy happy and sweet. I saw his parents who were also healthy and happy. I saw good, clean dogs and kennels. I cannot believe that she has been accused of having a puppy mill. I know that these accusations are NOT TRUE. I got my pomeranian at homestead kennel 12 or 13 years ago. She was healthy up until about 5 months ago. My furbaby had cancer in her nose and there was nothing they could do. I let her go last week, 9-23-2022 my pomeranian was never sick, she was very healthy until she got cancer. If I lived closer and I was healthier I would get another fur baby from her. DO NOT USE!!!!!!! You are absolutely NOT getting what you think you are. We purchased a "shorkie" back in May. $800 later, we have a mutt that I highly doubt even has shitzu or Yorkie in him. We've owned shorkies in the past and we, along with our vet, can guarantee our dog is NOT one. I spoke on the phone with this woman. Told her how we just recently lost our Shorkie and how excited my family was to get another one. She listened to my story and then sold me a different breed anyway. People like this are not to be trusted! Spend a little more and go with someone who is reputable. We love our dog so much and he is a part of our family but this organization is a SCAM. Edit: I did reach out to you via email...TWICE. I very politely asked you to provide me with information as to what else our dog could be mixed with. I've bought two sweet babies from this kennel. A Maltese/pomeranian (Malti-Pom) mix in 2016 and a full Maltese in 2017. A few days after delivery, my Maltese was diagnosed with Parvovirus. I did alert Julia, mainly for her to check the other puppies from the same litter. But, instead of demanding a refund or returning my baby that I'd only had a for a few days, I swiftly got her medical care and she was fine in a few days. Parvovirus is incredibly contagious and lives in our environment, in the soil. There's no way to eradicate it. I do think it would be a good idea to test them all before releasing them to customers, or offer a guarantee that expires at a given time. Or offer to pay 50% of medical care for infected, sold puppies. I got lucky with mine as she hadn't gone fully clinical yet and my country vet didn't charge me but $450 for a two night stay in the ICU. Perhaps if she'd died, my story would be different. My Maltipom is 7 years old now with the beginnings of heart disease and my Maltese is 6 and has been diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. They're very well taken care of and they're absolutely beautiful. Not sure if it's how they've been bred or if I just happened to get two babies with potentially serious health conditions. Either way, I wouldn't change a thing, I'd buy them all over again. They're my world and even though we've had some challenges, given the right timing, I'd probably buy another Maltipom from Julia. Back when she still allowed people on her property (about 10 yrs ago), my mother and I went there to get a puppy I found online. Definitely a puppy mill. I found the puppy we ended up getting curled into a ball, shaking, behind a small dog house that was places in what looked like a white pin for children or something.. Lots of other puppies in there with her. Not sure if they were even all the same breed in that particular pin. There were multiple pins as well. I wanted to update my review after having our darling little guy a while. He is now almost 4 months old and extremely healthy, energetic and happy. Even the vet says he is in great health. We chose a Shorkie ( Shitzu and Yorkie) and so glad we did. He is such a cute little thing with an amazing personality. What a blessing he has been to our family. Home Style Kennels is a puppy mill. When I was there last I would estimate that there were well over 75 adult breeding dogs on the grounds in dozens of kennels, plus many litters. Visit the kennel if you doubt what I'm saying... just don't walk away with a pup because you feel bad for it, which is probably how she stays in business! I stupidly bought a pup anyway, and when I took her to the vet the next day, the puppy had multiple types of parasites and coccidia. Later we found that she also had luxating patellas (a GENETIC condition). The surgery to fix this is around $1,000. But the "health guarantee" covers NONE of this. Really, the "health guarantee" is worth less than the paper it's printed on. And the dogs are crated. My puppy was with other puppies in a crate when I got her. But crating is really the least of concerns with Home Style Kennel. The fact that this is the best thing they can say about themselves says a lot. I reported them to HSUS, but there is no local animal control, and none of the animal controls in other counties will do anything because they say it is out of their jurisdiction. I have done all I can. If you know how to get this puppy mill checked out and shut down please, for the sake of the dogs, act! read more
