absolutely horrendous employees. my friends and i were chatting and browsing the jellycat collections when the highly unpleasant woman who worked there very rudely shushed us and told us in possibly the rudest manner to stop talking. you are running a trinket store not a library, why the attitude? we were not boisterous or rude in any manner. there is a respectful and professional way to speak to customers, and this most certainly was not it. other reviews on this page can ascertain my experience. take your business elsewhere. read more

Great selection of gifts and home goods! They have an especially notable selection of great cookbooks. On my last visit here, I picked up a copy of "Melted Cheese" containing recipes for my most beloved food. Service was very quick and friendly! Some of the items seem a bit overpriced, but other items are reasonable. In the past, I have purchased some small dishes for entertaining in cool finishes such as a bright gold to use for appetizers. Has it really been two years since I reviewed HomeStyle? Well, a lot has happened in two years, including the fact that HomeStyle has become not only my go-to shop for gifts, it's become my favorite little home wares boutique in the entire city! Cards, barware, candles, jewelry, kitchen goods, frames, they even have an entire kids corner with cute clothing, book, games and stuffed animals... You name it, they've got it. I just did most of my Christmas shopping for my entire family there in under an hour, and I can't wait to give out the charming gifts I selected for them. Lisa and her staff are sweet, friendly and helpful, but they totally stay out of your way and let you take everything at your own pace, which I really appreciate and love. My favorite item? The Gurgler -- it's a beautiful jug that comes in a rainbow of colors and is shaped like a fish. When it's full or water, tilting it results in a cute gurgling sound. Pretty and amusing! I can't say enough good things about HomeStyle -- just pop in and check it out yourself. You'll love it, no matter what your taste or budget, I'm sure! read more

This is one of my favorite little shops in downtown. There is such a broad range of adorable eclectic gifts. For the person who has everything, come in here and be amazed. One of the things that drew me in was their claim to have speciality foods, and while that technically wasn't a lie, I was a little disappointed by the small selection of margarita mixes, mustards, and jams--the decorative soaps of the food world. Aside from that, HomeStyle has an awesome variety of games, toys, accessories, bath products, and other knick knacks in a variety of price ranges for all your gift-giving needs. Although the store was a little cramped when I stopped by during prime Christmas shopping season, the products are arranged in a really intuitive way. For example, there's a shelving unit with a bunch of "male" gifts, and the toys are towards the back so you're not tripping over upscale Legos while shopping for your aunt. Love shopping at HomeStyle, even if most of the time I'm just browsing and not necessarily looking to buy. It's been one of my favorite window-shopping locales and I will definitely purchases gifts here in the future. I always want to purchase everything in this shop, from their awesome home decor to their soaps, jewelry and glass wear. They have some really unique stuff. HomeStyle offers interesting gifts, knickknacks and even lots of kid stuff (puppets!). I find myself perusing the shelves and wondering what gifting opportunities I could buy some of the cool trinkets for (Christmas is coming up, so I'm getting some ideas together). They have books, greeting cards, and picture frames, too. HomeStyle is an awesome gift/home decor shop in DownCity, and I highly recommend checking it out the next time you are looking for an awesome and unique item or gift. Was in the store today to redeem a $20 gift certificate from nift yet they would not accept the certificate as the employee didn't know how to ring it up as it was on my phone! I will never recommend this store to anyone! You can clearly see that I have a gift certificate worth $20 from a company that the store works with... I feel like it was a scam just to get people into the store! As a follow up to the above statement- homestyle make right on the gift certificate and in fact doubled it due to the confusion and inconvenience! Very respectable. read more

Very nice store with an artisitc style. Loved the vases, picture frames, and art on the walls. The candles were very nice but much too expensive. I can get the same size soy candles near my house for $8. A bit pricey overall as these stores tend to be but good if you are looking for a unique gift. read more

Every time I go into Home Style, I long for one of the new items on display. Tonight it smelled so much like Christmas with the diffuser that was in the entry way. Home Style is a well curated home decore / gift store. There are higher ed items and there are small, more reasonably priced items for gifts. Everything from octopus salt/pepper shakers to bar-related items (including stemware) to books to handbags to wall decore. It is a small shop with a great inventory. I can get a little crowded, but I rarely notice since I love everything there. The staff are more than willing to help, but are not pushy at all. (HUGE PRO in my book!) Parking in the Grant Lot can be validated, if parking to visit. I will go back again and again. Shop Local at its best. read more

Some of the greeting cards made me LOL. And some made me "aww" outloud (AOL? ...) This is definitely the place to go to get a quirky, cute, hilarious, beautiful greeting card. It's also the place to go if you want to be swept away by the beautiful, creative items that are almost overflowing in this narrow shop. I believe the problem with this store is that they sell so many different types of items: home accessories, books, children's toys and clothing, textiles, jewelry, perfume... They didn't have enough of a variety of any one type of item to keep my interest. I came in looking for accessories for my home: a frame, a vase...standard stuff. They had one frame and one vase. In addition, the staff was very unhelpful. I was obviously in need of assistance and wandered the store for at least a half hour LOOKING for something to buy.
