A cute welcoming coffee shop in the heart of downtown Winnetka. This shop has been ok my radar before it even opened here, when it first opened in Glencoe. Finally made it to the Winnetka location and the inside and decor is so welcoming. The clean fresh lines with bakery treats lining the counter, makes for a very appealing coffee shop. They have an extensive menu of eats and actually less of a variety of coffee drinks. They do also offer smoothies and juices. A friend ordered the chili soup and said it was decent. Very bustling vibe on a weekday afternoon.

I stopped in here for a caffeine fix. Unfortunately we already had plans for dessert immediately after but wow, the pastry display looked amazing! I need to go back to try their cookies and pop tarts. I had the honey cinnamon oat latte. I love how fresh and clean the interior is, and they appear to be dog friendly given they had so many pics of customers with their dogs on display!

Always good food and environment. Snooty girls usually (not this time...). I'd like to try other menu items. Great donut selection.

We made a stop on our way to the Home Alone house, and we are glad we did. Very friendly service and delicious cookies! Lattes are pretty good. Thanks for treating us so well. We will definitely be visiting again. Ample seating, all toasts look so delicious! Tried: S'mores cookie & a maple cinnamon late.

Found myself in Winnetka and whilst here I thought I'd find a coffee shop, and Hometown was just down the street from the shop I'd visited. It's a very popular place and it's easy to see why. Staff are friendly enough and the food isn't bad. I ordered a bagel sandwich, chai latte, and a couple of their crystalized ginger cookies. The bagel sandwich wasn't anything to write home about; the bagel itself was actually pretty disappointing, like one of those soft bagels that you get from the bread aisle at the grocery store. But it was fine, and I was hungry, so I have no regrets. The cookie was really my favorite. I don't even like ginger, let alone big chunks of crystalized ginger (which weren't that big, but they were small chunks and I don't really love ginger) and though I fully expected to give one of these cookies to my significant other, I kept it for myself. If they have them and you're around, definitely treat yourself. Ordering is at the counter, but they bring your food out to you. I was a little surprised at the wait time, given their menu and the number of folks there, because they don't have a lot of variety on their menu--it's mostly bagel sandwiches, so no pancakes/omelets/etc. Even ordering a coffee it said the wait was 10-15 minutes... which is kind of astounding. However, perhaps if someone actually came in and just ordered coffee/juice, it would be shorter than that. There's counter seating as well as some tables and a small seating area of armchairs, to keep the place casual and comfy. The place is super clean which is what you want to see in a restaurant! They have heated outdoor seating, which is pretty awesome. The heating elements are underneath the awning, and it's actually pretty warm. I don't know how it would feel in 20° weather, but in 40° weather it seemed like it could be pretty comfortable as I was walking under them (and since there were several groups of folks in sitting out there it probably was nice). There's no dedicated parking, but a good deal of street parking along Lincoln and Elm right by their corner, and a couple blocks away (west of Green Bay Road) there's a parking lot for the downtown shopping district as well. They have heated outdoor seating, which is pretty awesome. The heating elements are underneath the awning, and it's actually pretty warm. Cool place in downtown Winnetka for coffee and breakfast. Hometown is less expensive than it looks. It's certainly not cheap but surprisingly affordable for this fancy ass suburb. For sure people want coffee. They can also get fruit bowls and avocado toast. A pretty crowded place at breakfast. It's hard to get any work done here. This isn't a good place for that. Anyway, it's worth coming here for the coffee and food. The coffee is pretty typical and may actually be the least interesting thing. It's about $2 a cup. Of course, then add some for non dairy milk. I got the Green Bowl. It's about $10 for a ton of fruit and vegetables all mixed. The base was made of avocados, bananas, coconut milk, and spinach. Could hardly taste any vegetables in it. This was topped with agave, bananas, chia seeds, granola, kiwi, and strawberries. Less expensive than it looks as you get tons packed into a bowl. This is a good price. Good value for what you get. It has coffee along with bowls and pastries. There's a few things for vegans.

Back at Hometown and wanted to try something else on the menu! Ordered the Anytime Toast and it was really good and filling. All for a great price. Service was efficient, especially for mid-morning on a Sunday. The inside is cute with a decent amount of seating as well as outdoor tables.

I swear! Teena S, a credible yelper out of Winnetka was the main instigator for this visit to Hometown Coffee & Juice with her endorsement of the restaurant and menu recommendations. It became my choice for eats post completion of my run along Green Bay Trail. There are plentiful parking spots available along Lincoln Ave in spite of it being shared with other restaurants and businesses. Believe it or not, there is always someone leaving this area if you cannot find anything upon arriving. While locating a parking spot, I had no idea what to expect once I entered because it appears to be a very popular choice in the area. I nearly considered its neighboring restaurant, Stacked & Folded due to that, but I went along with visiting because it is loved by one of my regulars. I was acknowledged by an employee as soon as I walked up to the counter but needed a brief moment to gauge what I wanted to order. As much as I wanted to order a sandwich, I kept browsing the smoothies offered on their menu. Being a vegetarian, the process of ordering just takes longer for me, especially when I visit at the spur of the moment like I did with Hometown Coffee & Juice. Likely, if I were to have ordered a sandwich, I would have ordered the veggie sandwich. For future orders, it will be either the veggie sandwich, or the Greek avocado toast, as recommended. The employee who assisted me was patient from the initial encounter at the counter, and as I contemplated what smoothie I wanted to order which ended up being a PB & Banana smoothie. Anything pertaining to smoothies consisting of peanut butter just makes my taste buds melt! Inside, Hometown Coffee & Juice consists of modern style furniture which gives off an elegant, yet minimalistic vibe with a much welcoming presence compared to Starbucks. And the mood of this ambiance feels very casual dining like, but its menu makes it the perfect spot for brunch, or to have coffee or espresso drinks. In a reasonable time, I was informed via a buzzing/vibrating LRS (Long Range Service) pager that my PB & Banana smoothie was completed. And I must say that while walking to my vehicle, I smirked in anticipation of what it would taste like. There were certainly no disappointments in it. I was satisfied with its visual appeal along with its delicious taste which I casually sipped and enjoyed while leaving the area. The PB & Banana smoothie tastes exactly like it sounds. Yum! Being that I had a satisfying experience, I would gladly order from Hometown Coffee & Juice again when in the area. And as Teena gave her endorsement of this restaurant to me, I share my endorsement of it as well with you all. ~ Peace. Love. Happiness. ~ Thomas G

Yay! So excited for Hometown to open in Winnetka. Headlamps are hanging from above so you can stay cozy outdoors. The Classic (Avocado toast) - delicious The Club under bagel melts - delicious The Hometown breakfast sandwich - delicious Chai latte with unsweetened almond milk - perfect Everything that I've tried here is really good! I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. People here are super friendly and patient.

The food and juices here are super good and a great healthy spot to eat at. On a weekend afternoon it is paced and very hard to find a spot to sit down at, even more so when the weather is nice. They are very quick to get the orders out dine in or take out, even with the crowds that they have. Your getting what you asked for and can't be disappointed.

I've been going to New York Bagel & Bialy for over 50 years, and places like this operate on a different clock, a different standard, and frankly, a different philosophy of what a bagel is supposed to be. Timing matters. If you show up after about 8:00 AM, your odds of getting bagels at their absolute peak--still warm, properly textured, with that slight resistance on the outside and softness inside--go up significantly. Earlier can be hit or miss depending on the batch cycle, but once they're in stride, this place delivers. The essentials are all here and worth your time: poppy seed, sesame, everything, and especially the bialys. The bialys alone are reason enough to make the trip--properly done, with the right chew and depth of flavor that you simply won't find in mass-produced versions. Don't overcomplicate it. Grab a dozen. On your way home, stop and pick up a couple packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and some smoked salmon a jar of capers, a Bermuda onion--whether here or even from Walmart--and you've got a meal that outperforms most brunch menus at a fraction of the cost. This isn't trendy. It's not trying to be. It's something better: consistent, old-world, and still doing it the right way. If you're going to call something a bagel, the standard is not branding--it's process. That's why New York Bagel & Bialy on Touhy stands apart. They actually do it right: kettle-boiled first, then baked in rotating ovens. That single decision--boiling--changes the entire structure. It gelatinizes the outer starch layer, locks in density, and produces that thin, glossy crust with real chew. Without it, you don't have a bagel--you have bread with a hole. The rotating ovens matter too. They deliver even heat, which means you get the correct balance: a slight exterior crisp with a dense, elastic interior. No puffiness. No sponge. No collapse under toppings. That's the difference here. Most chains optimize for speed and shelf life, so they steam or shortcut the process. Many local shops land in the middle. This place doesn't compromise. If you care about what a bagel is supposed to be--not just what it's called--this is the benchmark in Chicago.

I ordered the Fox with a Twist for $10.49. I got a garlic bagel, I would try something different, probably everything or salt. I also kept the plain cream cheese and I would sub that next time. I really liked the turkey, there was a lot of it on the bagel. $10.50 is a lot for a bagel sized sandwich, but there was a lot of turkey. I enjoyed the bacon and pickled jalapeños. I could not taste the tomato but was glad it was there, but I was disappointed with the caramelized onions. There were not many, and they had almost no flavor. The sandwich also needed salt, something to draw out the flavor. I also got a French toast bagel for my son. It was served warm. That was $2.49. I heard about this deli because it was used for a catering event I went to. The bagels are delicious!!! The best around. The bagel hole idea is also clever, great snack for a catering tray. I would grab a bagel if I was in the area, but not sure I'll repeat the sandwich at that price point without a bit more punch of flavor.

The inside is small but cute with an ordering counter, to-go items, merch, etc. There isn't anywhere inside to sit and enjoy but bagels are nicely wrapped to carry out. While waiting for my order to be ready, the staff were hustling to keep up with taking orders, preparing food, and were constantly bringing out fresh bagels to refill flavors. I ordered The Basic B with crispy bacon, egg, and cheese on a Garlic Bagel. The bagel was extremely fresh and I could taste the garlic flavor infused into the bagel itself as well as the topping. The eggs were fluffy and the cheese added the perfect, melty flavor. My husband got the Everything bagel with Lox cream cheese. He said he could taste the fresh salmon flavor in the cream cheese and their everything bagel house seasoning had a good mix of flavor. Overall, I am so happy I finally got to try Elle's Bagels! This is clearly a neighborhood favorite as it was consistently busy when I visited. The pricing was very fair, everything was fresh, and staff were very kind/patient. Highly recommend coming out to give them a try!
