I hate to leave a bad review but this cafe was a big let down. I will start by saying it's clean, open, and bright inside. They have a cute patio out back. They sell art from a local artist. I ordered the strawberry, pitaya, coconut matcha for myself and the salted cardamom latte for my husband. The drinks took a very long time to make and then they tasted so bland we ended up throwing them out after a few sips. read more

I have enjoyed more than three wonderful years of being a regular customer of Central Station Coffee & Tea in Wilmette, Illinois. I discovered this store in the summer of 2022, and I can honestly say that Central Station Coffee & Tea is one of my very favorite cafes. I have many wonderful memories from this cafe, including excellent food and many excellent beverages that the store offers, good times with friends that I have brought with me to the store, and good conversations with the store's owner, managers, and outstanding staff of workers. I consider Central Station Coffee & Tea to be a restaurant "home away from home" on the Chicago North Shore. Thank you both to the store's visionary founder and owner, and to the store's excellent managers and other employees for making a beautiful and wonderful Chicago North Shore restaurant which blends excellent food and drink, outstanding and friendly service, rich historic Wilmette architectural character and ambiance, and a place for making good memories with friends. Wonderful little coffee shop that has an inviting atmosphere. The inside has a lot of natural light and is such a relaxing place. It is a great space to meet up with friends or bring your laptop and get some work done. The staff is amazing. They all were so friendly and helpful. Customer service is top notch. They answered a lot of the questions I had and walked me through some of their menu items. I ordered the peach mango matcha and Caesar salad. First of all, they have the best Caesar salad I have ever had in my life. I don't usually get excited over a salad but this one was so good I can't even believe how tasty it was. The peach mango matcha was so pretty I didn't want to drink it but it was well made and so refreshing on this hot day. I went later in the afternoon so all the pastries were already gone. I will definitely have to go back early and try some. The turkey and brie sandwich was very delicious. Made for a good light lunch. Pleasantly surprised at this coffee shop and adding to my list of go to places. read more

While searching on Yelp for a new coffee shop to try out. Central Station was one that came up. Parking outside of Central Station is mainly street parking, although it was not hard to find parking at all. When you walk in, the atmosphere is very light and airy. It felt like home. I ordered the matcha latte and it was delicious! Only thing to be mindful of is that it does leave a green stache when you drink it, so be sure to have napkins ready! Haha. I didn't realize until someone told me but it's a funny story to laugh about. All in all, if you're looking for a feel goo cafe to get some work done, and enjoy a nice hot beverage... This was my first time in Wilmette to pick something up for my dad. It was about an hour drive for me so I figured to use it as an opportunity to check out the area and see a friend. Upon entering Central Station, we were greeted by the two workers behind the counter. My friend ordered a cold brew and a cheese danish. I decided to go for a black coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. I really appreciated how my coffee was refillable; all I had to do was bring my mug up to the counter and they would refill it. They brew Intelligentsia coffee so I honestly took advantage of the free coffee. My chocolate chip cookie was okay, just your average cookie. My friend said her cheese danish was flaky and delicious. She did not like her cold brew, saying it was very weak. The space itself is clean and has lots of different seating available; I always noticed lots of chargers around the area. We noticed two tables filled with people working on art projects, and found out that they host classes! Central Station is a great spot to catch up with friends and get work done. read more

Lovely place, wonderfully friendly and attentive team, a great cup of coffee (I'm a simple, plain, black drip guy so can't speak to the subtleties of any fancy schmancy coffee drinks)...and a welcoming place to do what one is supposed to feel welcome doing at a coffee shop...which is hanging out, killing time, grabbing a coffee, grabbing a snack, and reading (and waiting for my better half). Have tried the Central Station a few times now and here are my observations: Ambiance is bright, inviting and lovely- this is a place that I wouldn't mind spending a couple of hours in working, reading or talking to friends. The staff is friendly and helpful when ordering. Service is slow when it doesn't have to be. The second time I went, I was the only customer in line. The person making my sandwich stood and talked with a customer, waiting 15 minutes to even begin preparing my sandwich even though he had literally no other orders to work on. I have yet to visit where my order was given to me correctly. For example, no visible Brie on the turkey and brie sandwich and no syrup in the vanilla lattes I ordered. I really want this business to succeed, so hopefully they can work on their service speed and accuracy. Would love to become a more regular customer. read more

I went to this cute and cozy adorable cafe last week when I was in the area and my chiro recommended this place. Coffee is excellent, had a creamy mocha and staff was super kind and polite. I sat indoors for a while nice calming and cool since it was hot outside. After a few minutes I went and sat in one of the patio tables outside that was just underneath a tree that provided enough shade and sat there and enjoyed the view! I love finding cute coffee shops like this that you can tell are filled with love and pride in what they do! I got the Chicagoan (they got me when they said 4 shots of espresso) and it was divine. Smooth and rich and ever so slightly sweetened. I also got a couple sweets (pecan bar and a jelly Bismarck) which looked absolutely delectable. I got a market salad with chicken to go for lunch. My husband and I were in the area as part of our honeymoon vacation and luckily stumbled upon this gem after having lunch down the street. The service is top-notch, friendly, and inviting. The choices are traditional as well as trendy. Try the nitro-infused cold brew coffee - total awesomesauce! The tasty treats and pastries are a delight as well. You will see artwork from local school children displayed in a very modern layout with comfortable and eclectic decor. It's quaint, cozy, comfortable and quiet! Street-side seating outdoors is readily available, too. EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE! We are a gay couple from Brazil visiting friends from near by. We were welcomed and treated as if we were locals! Walking in, it was super loud in there and crowded. I always get a Matcha latte and my husband gets an iced coffee latte. A 12oz iced matcha with oat milk is $7 that comes with a bunch of ice. My husbands was another $8-$9 for mediocre coffee. He said it wasn't strong even with an extra shot of espresso. Not terrible drinks, they were both good but for them being so small and pricey, it was not worth $18 after a $2.50 tip. Not a lot of pastry options either. Cute little coffee shop, feels very Parisian inspired especially the outdoor seating area. I came on a Saturday morning while the Wilmette French Market was open so the shop was crowded, but the wait still wasn't too long. Most of the servers seemed pretty young and were very nice and sincere. Unfortunately for them I noticed some customers being rude and rushing them when the store was obviously packed. They're just kids, relax! This is such a great spot to have in downtown Wilmette! Everyone here is incredibly nice, it's adorably set up with a surprising amount of seating considering the small space, clean and charming. They seem to decorate for the season, so right now, they're decorated to be a warm, welcoming, happy holiday-esque type of cafe. While their drinks are a bit on the expensive side, you can taste the quality. It's a great place to read, relax, work a little, and just slow down. read more
