I didn't plan on eating here the other day and I was just looking at the menu on the window. The person working inside came out to give me a to go menu and talk a little about the restaurant. They were so friendly and welcoming that I was convinced to just try something. How could you eat at Corner Banh Mi and not get a banh mi? I chose the grilled lemon grass beef banh mi. It was so good. It came out hot and the jalapeños were spicy. I don't eat pork, so I was glad that the banh mi came with mayo instead of the pate. I believe (but don't quote me on this) most places have some pork pate on them. This one does not (unless they change their recipe in the future). The Vietnamese iced coffee was okay. The condensed milk at the bottom was still on the bottom and did not fully mix with the coffee. They have some noodle dishes, fried rice, and other entrees on the menu. The lunch specials run from 10:30AM to 2PM if you want to stop in. Banh mi is not on the lunch menu, but worth it. read more

This is the place you want to go for when you want to authentic Vietnamese food. We got the Grilled Lemon Grass Beef Banh Mi and man that sandwich didn't have the right to be THAT GOOD. Everything was delicious, from the the warm and crispy Baguette, to the perfect beef, the correct toppings and man the ratios were so so good! We ended with a couple of coffees and the experience was completed perfectly. Now the service was just the cherry on top! Everyone was nice and helpful and just wanted us to enjoy our quick bite. Tables are clean and bathroom is large and clean. There's 8 seats available inside (one 4 seat table and two 2 seat tables) and 6 outside (two 3 seat tables). I feel that most of their orders come from people calling in or ordering online. All they need is decor in the establishment and some background music and it would be really nice. read more

Absolutely fabulous banh mi and other dishes. My go-to is the shrimp banh mi. The shrimp is always fresh and perfectly grilled, and the veggies are light and complementary, with maybe the best sandwich bread I have ever had. I also recently had the Taiwan beef noodle soup which was aromatic, comforting, and satisfyingly spicy. My only complaint is that the matcha they use for milk tea is kind of old so it doesn't have a vibrant green color, but that's not enough to take away from the 5-star review for the food, pleasant service, and cozy hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with outdoor seating on a nice avenue. read more

As a recent transplant to the north shore from the city, and as a POC, when I tell you I was itching for some decent ethnic food, please believe it. I stumbled across this place when in the mood for bahn mi. I remember warning my husband that though the reviews were good, you can never trust suburb folks. This place is so good. The BAHN mi is the best I've had. The bread is just the right amount of crispy, the meet deliciously seasoned, the veggies perfectly tart and sweet. Because the bahn mi's we're good, I ventured out and ordered a bunch more off the menu the next time I ordered. The Taiwanese soup is divine. Ive been to Taiwan and it would be difficult for me to tell you the difference between the soup there and here. The Vietnamese fried rice and egg rolls ... my friend is Vietnamese - it's the closest fried rice and egg rolls I've had to his moms. I haven't had too much else on the menu since I'm pretty sold on my current favorites but there have been very few misses. Absolutely order from this place !! read more

I felt the urge to write a review for this place right after "inhaling" my banh mi here. As a native born and raised in Vietnam, of course I've tried so many banh mi places around the Northshore as well as Chi town (including Vietnamese town). I can easily testify that this place, hands down, is the best banh mi place in the North suburbs. The bread is fluffy and crumbly but strong enough to hold all the stuffings inside. Some places they make their bread too thick and tough that when you bite down on it, it hurts your teeth and gum. Not here! As they named their store "Corner banh mi", you guess it, banh mi is their signature dish here and they know how to do it well. This place is new and the owner is so nice. Very excited to have a Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood. It's mostly carry-out (there are 2 small tables inside), so I picked up food for our group. They had the food ready a few minutes early, so I was in and out quickly. There was a group of kids that had stopped in for bubble tea, so Hometown, True Juice, and Deep Purpl will have some new competition in the Winnetka specialty smoothie market. The food was really good. The banh mi were nicely assembled and the bread was fresh. We also ordered egg rolls, spring rolls, and a Rice noodle bowl. Everyone seemed happy with the food. The rice noodle bowl portion was large, had all the right accoutrements (lettuce, mint, fried shallot, egg roll, pickled daikon/carrot), and the meat was nicely charred. Will be back! read more

Food is delicious! Love all of their rice vermicelli noodle dishes and all their smoothies. Bahn mi's are tasty! The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because I've never not waited 30 mins to an hour after it has said it would be ready by DoorDash. I'll get a text from DoorDash that says based on your order time it should be ready now. So I head to the shop and then stand around waiting. The last time I waited a full extra hour from when it said it'd be ready. I completely understand the food is made to order, but there should be some update to whatever system as to not be off timing by that much. Especially since it's every person in there is dealing with the same thing. Every time I walk in to pick up food I can see all the customers are frustrated that they've been waiting so long. If the ordering system was more accurate I think that would be very helpful for everyone involved....ill still go back but next time I'll give at least an extra 30 mins to when it say it'll be ready.... read more

This is such a great addition to the area! We have been looking for really great Asian food for a while and this restaurant certainly delivers. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. My friend just waited close to an hour at Corner barn mi. I submitted the order on-line several hours before scheduled pick/up. I even called and made sure they had the order. They said they had it but obviously they didn't.
