Been using this company for nine years and thru Covid and inflation, they have only increased my bill by only $6 in that timeframe. My current bill is only $63 every quarter. I've had Hometown Hauling for over 10 years. I reached out to ask for extra cans because I am moving out of my house in less than two weeks and only have one more pick up (after today) and will have quite a bit of stuff to discard. They said they couldn't do the extra cans because I would have to keep the cans for 3 months and I won't be here that long. Okay fine, I'll just take advantage of my pickup today and next week. I had an extra bag sitting next to the can and the driver came and dumped the can, left the bag. I messaged them back...piggybacking off of my message about the extra cans asking if they could send the guy back around if I put the extra bag in the empty can. Keep in mind, the guy comes by my house quite a few times to back up and turn around to get to the cross street, so he had to come back by my house. They said sorry, they couldn't send him back. The guy was up the street from me and saw me put the extra bag in the can. He pulled up to turn around to go back down the street, stopped in front of my house and pulled off without dumping the can. One bag has cost them a customer. I will not be using them at my new home! read more

Recent change to no longer picking up personal cans is ridiculous, shady, and poorly communicated. They are using the excuse that their new trucks aren't equipped to pickup personal cans or whatever, but my can is identical to theirs. I have always been happy with their service up until the last couple years and it has severly gone down hill. Prices have gone up the last 2 years in a row and the people on the trucks can't even be bothered to do their jobs. I am planning on moving soon to a city with proper garbage pick up, but they keep changing the pickup days, leave things behind and blame it on having to get newer updated trucks? Right. Were I not already moving, I would go with someone else. Do not consider this company, they have gotten absolutely terrible. Left a cardboard box our by my bin today and the truck came, emptied the bin and left the box. So if they arent willing to actually do their jobs or make excuses why they can't, then they need to close and let another company who will do what they are paid to do take over. read more

I am shocked that during my initial Tuesday pickup, the haulers that pickup the trash have caused so much property damage. Not only was the trashcan destroyed by the truck, but the mailbox and the address sign was broken too. When I initiall called, the operator told me that 'It Happens. The cans are made of plastic' . My suspicion is, the drive operator was drunk while doing the pickup. I wouldn't be suprised in this day and age. Now, I want all property damage paid for. With the way we are gouged due to fuel prices, they can provide a years worth of pickup on their dime. read more

The company has no actual knowledge on the locations they service . Worst company I've ever had the pleasure of wasting my time. Signed up for service in December . Dropped on can next day . Never picked up trash for 3 weeks . I called every week to make sure they were still coming , which they replied they were . They NEVER did . Called yet again and had to request a supervisor because I was told the same response as the weeks before ( never ever showed ) so 3 weeks on trash piled up when service was paid in full. I have had issues with them not picking up my can because they said it was too heavy, what? Their truck has an arm on it that does the lifting for them. The driver only has to pull a level to pick up the cans. Now I got no trash pich up Christmas week because of an inch of snow, what a crap reason. Then when I called they said they sent out an email on 12/20/2022 saying they would be by 12/21/2022 instead of 12/22/2022, but I have no email from them, this is just a he said she said kind of a thing they use. If I could give zero stars I would. I have only had service with this company for not even 3 months and will be finding a new company to service our waste needs. We had all of our boxes broken down and neatly placed inside of a larger box for ease of collection, trash guy spills our boxes all over the yard and then leaves and does not take them. After inquiring with the company they claimed "The boxes where not tied together so he was unable to lift them and therefore will not take them". Really? The boxes are broken down, pick up the boxes and put them in the truck, I am really tired of people not wanting to do their jobs. What happened to companies being grateful and appreciative of their customers? Would NOT recommend this company. **UPDATE TO OWNERS** I do not consider the amount of boxes "unreasonable", especially since I have told your company before that I do NOT mind being charged for extra collection and that I just want to ensure what I put at the road is collected, even if it costs more. Your response is a perfect example of why people should not use your service. Rather then owning up to the fact your driver was too lazy to do his job, you put fault back on the customer. Garbage picked on time and any extra besides the big can is also always picked up. I have called the office a few times. Staff always polite and helpful. I'm new to this paying for trash thing. So I picked Hometown Hauling by looking around my new neighborhood they had alot of trash cans so I thought I would give them a try. Well well got the trash cans the next day after paying for 3 mo to start my service. 93.00 Ok all good right?! No. Got a letter in the the mail said your recycling day is 6/22/21. Received a phone call about the wrong day being put on the paper right no big deal. It's every 2 weeks. So its the next Tue. Ok cool. So here comes the next Tue. They dont pick it up. But it's 7oclock before I get home so I can't reach anybody by phone till Wed the next day. My trash day. They come pick up my trash. So I called and talked to the office about my recycling. She said I will have the trash guy come and pick it up I was like ok I need it for the next 2 weeks. Well here it is July 13th recycling day and mine is STILL FULL. I GUESS THEY WILL HAVE TO SEND THE TRASH GUY TO PICK UP MY RECYLING AGAIN HUH. I WON'T BE USING HOMETOWN AFTER MY 3 MONTHS. read more

One of their trucks was speeding on Johnson School Road early on a dark morning and ran my sister off the road. Although they insist that their truck was only traveling at 20 miles per hour, there is no way this is correct. Now she is left with a bent and unrepairable rim and they will take no responsibility for it. Think twice before you do business with these people! read more

They are a good service, are they the best in the county, maybe not but they are cheaper and get the job done. I have one can a week and have a single day pick up and they have never missed a day. I called Hometown to alert them about the trash that is always being left in the streets, and the trash cans being left too far into the street. I spoke with Dawn, a Manager and owner. Dawn did a great job at being very unprofessional. Dawn also could not communicate well with me, especially by being a manager I expected better service. Dawn had a very nonchalant attitude towards me explaining my issues. I was fine with Dawn telling me that Hometown was not responsible for the damage my rear window suffered due to me avoiding a car accident with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. I wasn't fine with Dawn being unprofessional and using one word responses towards my concern. I would love for Hometown to educate Dawn on customer Service. Also remind Dawn that Hometown is in business because they have customers that pay for their services. Thank you Dawn at Hometown for solidifying that you no longer need our service. This company is a joke. Worst customer service I've ever received. They don't try to right a wrong. Just spend more time arguing their point. Trash men hate their job and always angry, complaining about pizza boxes in a trash can, a drink spilled, list goes on. This is unacceptable and really they don't understand the point of being a GARBAGE company. GARBAGE is gross. It does not smell good. It does not appear like anything else but garbage. So a pizza box will look like - TRASH! Garbage bags WILL SMELL!!! You don't even have to do the old school system where you stand on the back of a truck and manually dump every trash can. I have been with Hometown Hauling for 3 months. The staff are patient, knowledgeable, and helpful on the phone. One morning, my can was on its side, trash spilled out on my lawn (there were exceptionally strong winds the night before). The neighbors' cans were empty. How does this become a 5 star review? I reset my can and dialed HH. Their office was closed. I forgot about it until I can home from work to find my can empty and a handwritten Christmas card from the owner in my door. We have had Hometown for several years however we are soon to leave them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It amazes me that they give no forewarning for no pick up for inclimate weather conditions no is it noted on their FB schedule as we were directed too, much more so that all holidays they pickup the day after your scheduled day. MLK is a recognized holiday nationally therefore it seems like most everyone that has this service on a our street they did not think garbage pick up was running. When calling customer service we were notified we should have checked the schedule and we would have known, maybe so however there was no offer to do another pick-up when they are still in the area other days, even for a small fee. Therefore we notified them if this was left as is there would be a massive amount of garbage the next pick- up day. Due to the windy and wet weather and the mass amount of garbage bags we put them in recliner cardboard boxes so they did fly all over the street with our winds last night. I just received a call from Brad who said due to the bags being in cardboard boxes they did not pick up the garbage in those boxes, bagged garbage. I notified him the reason why these were and boxes and I'm not just going to throw a bunch of bags for cats and anything else to get in, his response is the cardboard boxes have to be broken down, Fully aware that have to be broken down however they didn't even bother to pick up the bags, his response is he was told there was loose garbage. ?????If there was and it was from us, it was little and they could have left that, although I just told my husband about a lady that walked by and threw something in the box last night. Really??? I also told him that this is a reason for us to start viewing the other companies in the area that give two cans at no charge and are cheaper, his response "okay". This is terrible customer service, if there are issues they should be handled with respect and customer concern, there was none. Please offer suggestions on garbage companies that rank high with customer service and care about losing their customers? Amazingly enough since I have cameras on my house, it seems they have came back and picked ALL of it up. I got out of my bed @ 5am to set my trash cans out...Then I get a call from HT hauling @ 8am telling me the driver reported I didn't have my cans out. SO...now I am stuck with stinky trash for a week. This is total Bull. Be aware of the very unprofessional service, I just moved into my neighborhood, and this company was recommended from my neighbors. After my second trash pick up, it was a disaster. The first week they left 3 bags of full trash in can. I called and registered my complaint they were very professional, and apologetic. Week 2 left trash thrown all in my yard, did not take the items that was intended for trash. Called and registered the compliant, and was told that the driver will come back, and a supervisor will accompany him. Driver arrived with no supervisor very angry, broke up the bookcase that was supposed to be disposed of the 1st attempt of picking up trash, he used the machine and broke it up all the wood was all in my yard. He begin talking on his telephone, and was telling someone that I had he F*** up and called me the N word, and told me to come outside if I need to get something off my chest. He was angry that I was watching him through my security door. I then called the police, because I am a woman and felt threaten and called customer service, and was told that his supervisor was handling it. When the police arrived they stayed with me until I spoke with someone at Hometown Hauling, but when I called she abruptly told me that its being handled and my service is being cancelled, and hung up on me. I called back and ask did she hang up, and she told me that she would not argue with me, and I was like argue and just want my service that I am paying for to be correct, and I explained how their worker was very unprofessional and threaten me. Should of known, when I called at the end of January trying to proactive and set the account up, and was charged for the service that I was not going to use until 2/1/19. This is the most awful company on the planet! They refuse to pick up my garbage, I had a few extra bags beside my can they were supposed to pick up. Their employee cursed at us because there were extra bags instead of picking them up. I called in and let customer service know what was going on and they promised they would send someone out today to pick everything up. They claimed that someone came out with a truck, but the garbage was still on the curb. So I called back in and spoke to the owner, his name is Bob. He was excessively rude and refuse to listen to me after asking me what was going on. He just kept rudely talking over me and acting hostile. I tried to explain to the man that his trash pickup Personnel cursed at my family and the person they sent out to pick up the trash after his original garbage man did not do his job also refused to do his job and the garbage was still in the yard. His employee tried to claim there was dozens or more bags when there was not. I sent him a full email explaining the situation and had pictures of the bags that they had left yesterday and another photo of how many was still there today. He was dead Set On Believing his employee that said these bags are too heavy to pick up. He attempted to explain to me that his employee could easily bench 350 pounds but he still had no ability to pick up these bags. I sent him a photo of my 170 pound son holding a bag and two photos of me picking up a bag with one arm. I explained to him that I'm physically disabled due to my back, neck, my ankle, hip and blood pressure problems. I'm very much disabled. But I was able to pick up a bag with one arm. The email and photos made him more hostile and he said he was going to come to my house with his truck to remove the trash. He brought one of his employees and instead of removing the trash he forced us to put all the bags in the back of his truck while refusing to let the tailgate down. His truck had a lift on it and the edge of his bed was about Chin high to me. He made a disabled person pick bags of trash up and throw them over the edge of his bed while rudely standing there and watching with his employee. This caused me to re-aggravate an injury, I'm calling an attorney because of this scumbag. You pay for their service and they refused to render proper service. I canceled my service with them and went to Rumpke. When I spoke to their customer service Personnel at Rumpke she was disgusted at what she had heard that happened to me and my son. She explained that they would have no problem hauling off extra bags, larger items or anything else we needed as long as we call them in. They said it's actually normal for them to take a full trash can and up to 8 bags of trash with no problem whatsoever. It's apparent Hometown hauling has a serious disgust and Loathing for their customers. I intend to file suit for the physical damages caused by this moron forcing me to pick up bags of garbage and reggravating an injury. If this moron would have paid attention to what I was saying instead of talking over me he would have heard that I record all conversations on my cell phone because I'm a businessman and sometimes clients can be deceptive. I also have the email with the photos explaining that I'm disabled but this douchebag forced me to pick up bags of trash iregardless of my disabilities. Not only is the owner scum of the Earth he's also an excessively ignorant human being. I hope the lawsuit causes so much pain and suffering like he is causing my back and neck now. read more
