We also enjoy the baked beans, which have pulled pork in them, and the " just like Mom's" macaroni salad.

It's hard to describe the way they've carved out an entirely new BBQ flavor. I had the BBQ tacos with pulled pork, which was dynamic. The parfait is certainly a unique way to deliver the whole experience in a single convenient dish. Beans in the bottom, pulled pork, with coleslaw on top. Certainly the different types of slaw influenced the overall flavor but I think it was also the way the cabbage in the slaw was rough cut instead of shredded. Siracha and Dijon were in the driver's seat with one of the slaws I tried. The staff was super friendly. Although the restaurant is a humble place it was jammed when we were there. If I lived in the area I'd probably show up once a week too! Maxons clearly captured the rural area's attention and some folks from town were there too. What a great experience. From the moment see left our vehicle we could smell the fire and the smoking meat. Wonderful! Give Maxons a try!

Each item stood out and together they were a great blend of flavors. Service was friendly even though they were busy during my visit. Upon arriving at 5:30pm, I asked the hostess/server if there was availability. I was told there were immediate openings. I also asked about the service speed, and I was told by the same person that there was a good flow to the service--we wouldnt have a long wait. We decided to stay, ordered drinks, and gave our food order--quesadillas. This was at ~5:40pm. As we waited for our food (how hard is it to make quesadillas?), the restaurant started to fill up. At 6:20pm we were finally able to grab our server--who was hustling, btw--and told her that we needed to have our food. She checked the kitchen for our meals with my spouse trailing behind, and our orders were not yet ready. We had to leave. There was no time to enjoy the food even if we had received it at that very moment. We know that Chase Creek is NOTORIOUSLY slow in food preparation, but we were hoping that the information regarding the service speed would accommodate our schedule. It was a foolish choice. Because of time constraints we were unable to get food before our event timelines. We enjoy Chase Creek food, but their food delivery speed is EXTREMELY SLOW!

The restaurant itself had a nice rustic influenced atmosphere. It was louder than I would have preferred, it made it hard to have conversations with others at the table. I ordered an appetizer of Burnt Ends, and the two-meat dinner for two to share with my lady. For meats we chose Brisket and pulled pork. I judge Barbeque restaurants by their Brisket. If you can't do a decent brisket, you shouldn't offer it. While we were waiting the rest of the family and other locals were really talking up Molasses. Unfortunately, the hype did not live up to the experience. First. The burnt ends are not burnt ends. Well, they're poor man's burnt ends in that it's not the trimmings off of smoked meat. It's something made to simulate burnt ends. I'm not sure what kind of smoker Molasses use, but there was no smoke flavor to it. Plus, it was a little tough. It needed BBQ sauce for flavor. The Brisket was also a little on the tough side; it did not pull apart like it should and had no flavor to the bark. It was a tad bland. The pulled pork was juicy, but again almost flavorless. All the meats needed the sauce to make them enjoyable. For sides we got the dill potato salad and fire roasted corn. Both of those were good. We were highly please by them, however if you're going to a BBQ place for the sides... why even go? Overall, I was disappointed with Molasses. The food was good, but not great. It was an okay example of smoked meat. I don't know how they prepare the meat, but it's disappointing. If it's the only BBQ option in Midland, then I understand the love of it, but if you have access to better... or any other. Go there.
