    The flavor wow
    Pat O.

I wasn't even that hungry but I thought $6.95 for a 4 piece chicken I'll give it a shot good thing I did this was the best bbq I've ever had. It was cheap and delicious also bathroom was clean and so was the restaurant. There was alot of traffic in and out the door but a real short wait. Aged white cheddar Mac and cheese was out of this world so was the bbq sauce what a gem I can't wait to try something else!

    Bbq Chicken, beans, and cornbread.

We also enjoy the baked beans, which have pulled pork in them, and the " just like Mom's" macaroni salad.

It's hard to describe the way they've carved out an entirely new BBQ flavor. I had the BBQ tacos with pulled pork, which was dynamic. The parfait is certainly a unique way to deliver the whole experience in a single convenient dish. Beans in the bottom, pulled pork, with coleslaw on top. Certainly the different types of slaw influenced the overall flavor but I think it was also the way the cabbage in the slaw was rough cut instead of shredded. Siracha and Dijon were in the driver's seat with one of the slaws I tried. The staff was super friendly. Although the restaurant is a humble place it was jammed when we were there. If I lived in the area I'd probably show up once a week too! Maxons clearly captured the rural area's attention and some folks from town were there too. What a great experience. From the moment see left our vehicle we could smell the fire and the smoking meat. Wonderful! Give Maxons a try!

Fantastic food, drinks, and service…read more - - - - - - - - August, 2026 Visit We went on a road trip, from Missouri to Michigan, for a family event, and on Friday night we joined countless others in attending the outdoors concert in downtown Midland, MI. We set up our chairs on the street next to Molasses, near the stage. And... we became hungry and benefitted from Molasses. We were able to order and enjoy the wonderfully tasty burnt ends before they were sold out; we also enjoyed some tasty street corn and some adult and non-alcoholic beverages. The staff is fantastically helpful and friendly. We look to return on our next visit. Thanks, Molasses!

They all seem to have the country Honky Tonk bar appearance, and I suppose that's what people expect. The staff was reasonably attentive, although they weren't terribly busy the night I've visited so I suppose they didn't have a lot to do, lol. I ordered the ribs with a side of coleslaw. Overall the ribs were fine, but they weren't quite as tender as I'm used to. As I recall the coleslaw was adequate but nothing special. Pricing was a little on the high side, but I get it that it cost money to run a place like this. Overall I don't think I would be inclined to come back.

We ordered a rack of ribs ($32 with no sides), chili cheese fries ($19), and brisket fries ($17). Our takeout order took about 50 minutes, and after a convenience fee and tip, the total came to over $87. The ribs were fairly fatty and average at best. The chili cheese fries were covered with so much chili that they were more like a bowl of chili with fries underneath. The brisket fries were probably the best item we ordered, although the meat was more similar to shaved steak than the BBQ brisket we expected. To be fair, the portions were generous, and while we were waiting, a local customer mentioned that the mac and cheese is one of their better menu items. The staff was also friendly. That said, for nearly $90 for takeout for two people, I expected a much better overall experience. Nothing we ordered stood out, and the food quality simply didn't justify the price or the 50-minute wait. Based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're specifically going for menu items that regulars suggest. Last note for fairness- the actual SMOKE/tenderness of the ribs was very good.
