Let's start by saying the food is delicious. The ribs, brisket, coleslaw, beans,fried pickles, all excellent. However, the service is the worst we've ever experienced, and this was a non-busy Wednesday evening. We waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive after ordering. And salads came out after the food arrived. Our server had no idea what beers or bourbon they had and had to keep running to the bar with questions. The liquor selection is lacking. It took a long time for cocktails to arrive and 30 minutes for the fried pickles appetizer to show up. Generally just a nightmare. The food is great but we won't be back. read more

We needed to be at an early evening event in Reed City on a Friday night. We took a chance that the Smokehouse had reasonable availability. Upon arriving at 5:30pm, I asked the hostess/server if there was availability. I was told there were immediate openings. I also asked about the service speed, and I was told by the same person that there was a good flow to the service--we wouldnt have a long wait. We decided to stay, ordered drinks, and gave our food order--quesadillas. This was at ~5:40pm. As we waited for our food (how hard is it to make quesadillas?), the restaurant started to fill up. At 6:20pm we were finally able to grab our server--who was hustling, btw--and told her that we needed to have our food. She checked the kitchen for our meals with my spouse trailing behind, and our orders were not yet ready. We had to leave. There was no time to enjoy the food even if we had received it at that very moment. We know that Chase Creek is NOTORIOUSLY slow in food preparation, but we were hoping that the information regarding the service speed would accommodate our schedule. It was a foolish choice. This place is amazing. Out of middle of nowhere is some amazing bbq and one heck of an outdoor patio and bar!!!!! Bbq sauce is a little sugary and may be heavy at times on the ribs. The people were welcoming. Service was very good. I had the mac and cheese with pulled pork. I liked that the mac and cheese wasn't made with a white sauce which is always grainy to me. It was insteady creamy with cheese! My husband had barbequed chicken, which was good but would have preferred it not fried. My Grandson said his hamburger, which was huge was really good. Wow. We walked in and were greeted by a very kind woman. The seats were homemade, spacious, and made out of wood. The tables were also made out of wood and very smooth. The menus were decorated to perfection, I liked the pig holding a knife and fork, it really let me know that this was going to be very good. They had the finest mellow yellow. The food was a bit pricey, but still sort of worth the price. The green walls were really nice and the wood beneath it were also splendid. The windows were placed perfectly. I saw some very beautiful trees while enjoying my delicious food. The carpet was very soft. The bathrooms were squeaky clean. Very spacious. I wish there were more stalls for such a big restaurant. Mirrors clean. Sinks clean. Bathroom clean. The food was cooked to perfection, some of the best fries and mashed potatoes I've personally ever had. I got the smokehouse burger if you were wondering. Was in the area for my birtday at an AirBNB and we popped in for a late dinner. The dining room was empty but they sat us and didn't rush us at all. Typically, this is a three star place. Good because it's in the middle of nowhere. The bbq really isn't bbq in that the (pretty tasty) ribs are drowned in sauce and fall apart, but the burgers are good and overall the food is fine or better than fine most times. It's on-brand for the rural setting, but usually friendly and ok for kids. Typically service is good, but slow. But when did it become ok to keep serving alcohol to noticeably drunk, obnoxious, profane guests? Because it's Friday night at 8 o'clock, does that mean you don't care about the experience of your other customers and you can't bring a family in for dinner. Do you just ignore people smoking in food service areas? Really slow service and sun-par food on this visit --- burrito must have taken 40 minutes and came out luke warm. One of the better places to eat in this area. Family-style seating in some places. Bar seating and outdoor patio with limited seating for dining. Lots of bar space. Pulled pork sandwich was good. Too big and not soaked in sauce. French fries were oddly delicious because they were really crispy! Service was quick and attentive without smothering. We stopped here after a ski trip with a large group of about 20 people. This is the 2nd year in a row of coming here. The ambiance is very nice log cabin style. We got in right before the rush on a Saturday and we got seated right away. The service was great with no complaints at all. I would say most of the people at our table enjoyed their appetizers of bbq wings, fried pickles and chips with the 3 dips. The ribs were huge with an entire slab for the main entree. I split a Ruben and a Philly cheesesteak with my wife. The cheesesteak wasn't as big as the picture and the was just ok. The Ruben was a Ruben nothing spectacular and the sweet potatoes fries were flavorless. I did think the coleslaw was good. read more

Father's Day late lunch early dinner. It was busy but we got one of the last open tables. Service was fantastic. Our server was Kaylah. She was super efficient no drinks or water went low with her asking. She was knowledgeable on the menu items offering suggestions too. No dirty plates ever. I would definitely ask for her or Michelle who is also great. Food is always top notch. Husband had a filet. He is a Med Well meat eater but the meat is still tender and super flavorful. This is a fantastic spot to grab dinner. I stopped in with my father the other night and we both really enjoyed the friendly service and delicious BBQ. The spot was pretty busy in both the dinning room and bar area. I sat in the dinning room however next time I hope to snag a spot in the bar. There is also an outdoor patio area and some green space. This place seems to be the place to see and be seen. After trying the food I can see why it is so popular. Also they have a pretty great tap list of local beers. At the top of the menu are three options of BBQ combinations which I highly recommend. The chicken wings, ribs, and fries were killer. Oh, and do not skip the fried corn! I had no idea this was a thing but now my eyes have been opened to the beauty that is fried corn. Somehow it is sweeter and more tender then your run of the mill corn. I heard about Chase Creek a few separate times from friends. Everybody spoke pretty highly about their barbeque and some friends and I wear starting a weekly dinner club, so we decided to try it out. It is a bit of the beaten path, but really only about 10 minutes of the freeway. It's a large wood cabin type building. It actually seemed a little too large for the small town it's located in but points to the obvious ... the place is usually busy. They didn't take reservations but we didn't have any problem getting in right away with a group of 5. We were unaware, but they were having a fundraiser for one of the employees parents who had medical issues, so any pork slider orders went directly to the family and if you bought a beer, one dollar of that went to the family. It appeared obvious that this place cared about its employees. To add to the family atmosphere, the dining room is one large open area with a massive ceiling fan. The individual blades must be about 12 foot each. Solid rustic wood seating and tables. Very cool bathrooms. There is a bar area on the opposite side of the dining room, but a partial wall separates the areas. I ordered the barbeque sampler platter. It was good, but I felt the chicken was rather bland. It lacked seasoning but was perfectly cooked and juicy. The lack of seasoning is the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars. The staff was very friendly and even obliged our drunk buddy by turning on the massive fan for a few rotations. Overall a very clean place, beautiful building and dining area, and good food. It really seems like a great family place. A little out of the way, but worth a stop. read more

The restaurant is small and often there will be waiting no matter the time or day. This is why it's 4 stars to me. We have tried to go before our most recent visit and left due to the lengthy wait. The ambience is cute. The huge ceiling fan is something to see. It's a cozy place. You sit at long tables with others. The food is a bit pricey but amazing and we'll worth it!! Our waitress was super friendly. I think due to COVID or the employee shortage she was stretched thin and not as attentive as we'd like but that's just the times right now. I would return but my own preference is due to the lack of quick seating won't put it in my main rotation. I would not bring a group to sit in restaurant as it would be an even longer wait than two people which was my sized party. read more
