I thought this was a great place until I brought my truck a second time. This time to have the front shock absorbers replaced. I already got the shocks from a friend that works at a dealership in Quincy. When I made the appointment the owner informed me he didn't really want to install other peoples supplies and preferred to supply and install his own equipment, which is fair. He told me he would do it this time only, I said great and if there was anything else that needed to be done just go ahead and do it. He call when the truck was ready, I went and paid my bill not paying much attention to it. (Extra needed work was done) When I got in my truck I noticed my shocks were still in the box not used on the back seat. When I asked about it, he claimed he wasn't there and someone else did the work. He didn't even offer to try and make it right, so much for customer service. I will never go back. Our experiences with Home Towne continue to be very positive. We have found some other mechanics to be slightly condescending toward my wife. We have never felt that way here. They will discuss options for repair with you with a mind on price, value and purpose. The shop front area and work areas appear clean bright and up to date. And to top it off our latest request to help replace brake lights and a headlight was met with 'just bring it by and we'll put them in ... No charge' This may be accounted for by the fact that we have used them several times, but it is one more reason why we are extremely likely to go back. And tell others to start. read more

I initially reviewed this shop on 7/2013. I have never reviewed anything else on Yelp, and yet I am back to write another review for this shop, 2.5 years later. I might never move, just because I will never find another auto shop as good as Home towne Auto. Mark is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and on top of that, he is a good, fair, and honest mechanic. As a woman, I have always dreaded bringing my car in, even for an oil change. I walk away not knowing which way is up, not sure what to believe, and completely helpless. After an exceptionally bad experience at Easton Gas, I gave this (then) new shop a shot and the heavens opened and the angles sung and for the first time in my life, I left an auto shop feeling 100% confident I had been told the truth. We have brought both our cars to Hometown Auto pretty much from the day they opened their doors and I have never had a single bad experience. Fair prices, excellent work, fast service, and most importantly incredibly trustworthy. And now a real life story: I live around the corner from the shop. This morning I was out running errands with my two littlest children (6 months and 2). They had both just fallen asleep in the car, so I sat in the driveway, with the car running for a bit. I had the heat on for the first time this year. After about 10 min I noticed a strange smell and immediately got a pounding headache. I threw the doors open and get my kids out and called Mark. Before we even hung up the phone, he had a mechanic walking up to my house to get my car, knowing I had to pick up my 4 year old soon, he wanted to make sure the car was safe for my kids. I am a mom. Had a great experience with Jon at Home Towne Auto Shoppe. He asked questions to find out what I needed done on my car and answered with honesty & sincerity. After all was said & done, the guys figured out the reason why my engine indicator kept coming on & fixed my a/c problem. Jon kept in touch with me throughout the day & didn't make repair moves until I knew the price & gave the go-ahead. When I picked my car up, he & another mechanic let me know of other concerns they had and even gave me a business card in referring me to another shop that would potentially care of issues that they could not. A couple days later, I received a follow-up call from Jon, making sure everything was running ok with my car. Mark is the best mechanic I ever met. Honest, knowledgeable and reliable. My car alternator broke down in Boston and AAA towed my car to an auto shop in Malden. They quote me for almost $750 to fix it and need two days to repair. I called Mark for a second opinion. He explained two possible scenarios to me and he said he could do it for almost half the price of them and only takes one day! Even though it costs me over $100 to have my car towed back to Easton, it is well worth it. Not only it costs less, but I get the peace of mind of knowing my car is in good hands. I think these guys are the absolute best! They have been helping me with my mechanical needs for me and for my son's car as well and I have found them to be very honest, credible and competent. This is my 2nd review of Hometowne and the service hasn't changed. Mark is one of the nicest guys you will meet. I went in there with a flat tire, full expecting it to need to be replaced. I needed it fixed as soon as possible so that I could pick up my kids from daycare that afternoon. Mark promised to work on it first. We recently had our Lexus repaired by Home Towne Auto. Lexus of Watertown had given us a detailed estimate over $6500. Home Towne found much of the estimated repairs were not necessary and repaired the vehicle for $1,500. The car runs great! These people could not be nicer. Quality work for a fair price. read more
