I didn't know what happened, but I could tell my 6 cylinder was now running on 5 (and quite loudly). The car was still running, so I rolled the dice and kept on driving...luckily I made it to my hotel. When I told Nicole at the front desk about my car issues, she said "I would go to Big Al's in Taunton". Being a stranger in town, I opted to go with my one and only recommendation. The next day I was barely able to get my car to Big Al's. It was about 8:30 in the morning and I told them "I hope to drive home this afternoon". By noon they called with the diagnosis: a spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head, stripping the threads on the way out. I would need a helicoil repair on the head, new plug, wires, throttle body, etc. I told them "go", they were done with the work by 3:00 and I was back on the road to NJ by 4:00. A fast tire leak. Without an appointment they took me in right away, as it turns out I had a nail in the side wall. They took me into the shop to show me and I had no choice but to replace the tire. He told me it would be done later in the day but they called me just a couple hours later to say it was done. The car was clean and left in perfect condition. The price was on point and a great value for my money. I will no longer go anywhere else ever! No matter how far I have to drive. Price, honesty and professionalism all in one place! I didn't feel like laying on the cold ground and at my age it was time to let a garage do the work. I took it to Walts for a oil and filter change $75 for 5qts of fully synthetic oil and filter. When I got home I found over a qt. shy of oil and they never changed the filter. The oil on the dip stick looked like used oil. If you treasure your vehicles and you want them to last I suggest shop around. If you have someone you know family or friend that has some mechanical background. Have them look at the work that was done.

They run an inspection mill here…read more A couple of years ago, they failed the truck's state safety inspection b/c (they said) the front bearings were gone. I had replaced the bearings just a few months before and knew they were good. With the threat of driving around with a red "R" on my sticker, they said they replaced the front wheels bearings. However, in January, I found that they DID NOT replace the passenger side bearings. This past weekend I found they replaced the front driver's side bearings, but installed the outer bearing BACKWARDS! I could not pull the hub off because the bearing race was forced into the spindle taper. I had to cut the hub off and tried to cut the race off but couldnt. Long story short, the axle spindle was ruined so I now have to replace that in addition to a new hub. All in all, that one inspection has cost me over a thousand dollars when it shouldn't have cost me more than the standard inspection fee!
